Did any fluid come out of the pipes you remove from the engine bay when you took them off to reveal the pipes you were attaching i.e. does it leak engine coolant down the back of the engine?
No, didn't have to replace the matrix. It blew hot air through all vents after unblocking the matrix. Prior to unblocking I had next to no heat coming from any vents. If you have hot air blowing out some of your vents I would imagine your matrix is fine, and that it's probably an electrical problem with your vent actuator/ diverter.
How did you remove the hoses ? Did you only replace from the bulkhead, or from the other side at the engine too ? The metal ring on the hoses on the bulkhead side arent clips. Im worried i will ruin the hoses or worse, break the pipes coming out of the bulkhead ? Any help here appreciated.
@@sakibh85 I didn’t remove them from the bulkhead side, it was from the engine side. You need to follow the hoses back from where they enter the bulkhead. It is really hard to get the clips off with the limited access. I used long nose pliers, but I think you can buy a tool for removing those specific hose clips..
Doesn't give any info on how to remove the pipes - do you remove the pipes from the plastic dome on the bulkhead - or do you remove the dome itself? How do you undo the clips? they aren't Jubilee clips / what do you have to remove first in order to get to the heater pipes? the battery box? No useful info here at all.
I followed the pipes back from the bulkhead, towards the engine and undone the clips with long nose pliers. Sorry the video lacks information. First video I’ve ever made & only made it because there was almost no information out there on how to do it. Was just trying to stop people paying £800+ to get their heater matrix replaced as flushing the sand out the matrix with some water does fix it, at least has done so on mine. I’m sure your video will be far more informative though 👍
@@neiljones6215 Thanks Neil - my mate has taken his car to two garages who both failed to sort out the heater and a water leak - the second garage then quoted £1,000 to swop the matrix....
Hi mate just done this it worked for 30 minutes then blowing cold again the top pipe is hot bottom pipe just warm new matrix? What do you think 🤔 thanks for your time
@@daig1984 did you manage to fix this same thing happend with mine flushed worked fine for a couple days but after a long motorway drive it went cold again
5 months on and it’s still working great!
Don’t suppose you have any photos of which pipes I need to flush it. Can’t see any clear photos online on which I need to connect the hoses to
Unfortunately not. Access is pretty awful but it is doable. You need to look for the two hoses that go through the firewall.
@@neiljones6215how did you undo them? Did you turn or just pull out ??

How did you remove the excess water from the heater matrix after flushing? Thanks
Do you remember which pipe is the inlet and which was the outlet?
Did you replace the matrix and did you resolve the heating issue I’ve got a MK7 Golf GTD and I’ve only got heating on the passenger side.

Replace the matrix m8 flushing doesn't work
Hi @James. I have the same symptoms on my GTD, heating only on the passenger side. How did you solve yours?

How did you the hoses of av only got pump plyers
Just used long nose pliers, really awkward to get into as almost no access.
The access to the pipes in the engine bay is terrible I don't know how you've managed to connect it up

I had removed the bag already, and I had no holes in it.
No it’s not, the author is spot on with his statement
Better replacing the matrix doesn't work
6 months later and it’s still working perfect…🤷♂️
