I thought the same thing & also thought "I put a copius amount of mayo on things, it can't be that much" but that with gyudon... I just can't think of tasting good
Maybe not as much, but if you don't do it in a similar manner as Laplace and only adding a little bit, you'd be surprised at how many times you actually add more once all the little bits of mayo you put on is gone.
This might seem a lot, but if you're doing it in a way that you don't plan on adding any more than you can actually handle, then this might be fine.

Hear me out, you can still see the meat on the bottom of the mayo + there's no way of telling the actual depth, but judging from the keyboard in the background there should be some depth there. So maybe, just maybe the proportions aren't exactly like what it seems. Considering just how good Japanese mayo tastes I'm still willing to try this
i actually used to like Mayo as well or a mixture of Mayo + Ketchup whenever im eating fried foods like chicken or breaded pork but barely about a quarter of the amount that she uses. I was under the impression that it cuts off the fat from eating fried foods but after casually eating like that for 3 months, I gained about 15kgs of weight so I had to stop. by then I discovered that they make Mayo in my country with heck tons of oil so I ultimately ended buying Mayo and avoided it even now.
Fun fact mayonnaise is made out of 15% egg,85% oil and a frick ton of sodium some even have mustard in it. 4 table spoon of mayo have fat content equal to 250g of steak ps: steak have 60% unsaturated aka the good stuff so that make mayo even worst.

Traditional (home)made is basically just an emulsion of egg yolk and olive or grapeseed oil (which are healthy) with whatever aromatic you want and as little salt as possible. As with everything moderation, but as a base a proper mayo it isn't unhealthy.
Lastly mustard is one of healthiest superfoods in the world.
Japanese mayo is actually good on beef bowl, fried food (tempura), and a lot of different types of food as long as you don't do what she did lmao
