This one is actually just a video on VLC but if you want fast SPI speeds definitely check out github.com/juj/fbcp-ili9341 - there's a list of best performing TFT displays here github.com/juj/fbcp-ili9341#which-spi-display-should-i-buy-to-make-sure-it-works-best-with-fbcp-ili9341 the setup is pretty easy to install and run so aslong as it's a supported screen - there's options you will need to include specific to which display you have.
Nice that's going to be an awesome project - with abit of wizardy you may find running the video directly without the OS Gui will improve performance/efficiency - maby this could help you? forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=265508

@@jakesllama Thanks. Yeah, I'm just looking to use VLC. Are you using the fbcp-ili9341 drivers in this video?
@cchobbyfun Yes that's how I've managed to pull off the 24 FPS - Enjoy playing Friends! 😆
@@jakesllama Ha! Thanks. I'm planning on using it to loop a Star Trek wormhole animation behind a DS9 miniature.
