    Thank you for the information it's really helpful. i would like to ask if it's possible to control this matrix using esp32 microcontroller and if adafruit neomatrix library works with this matrix? if it doesn't, do you know about any libraries in esp32 that supports it?

    When you're dealing with batteries it's important to know what the configuration of the cells are. Batteries are built by adding cells in series and then in parallel. When cells are in series you add up the voltage and when cells are in parallel you add up the capacities. So to get 38400mah battery, you'd need a 1s8p configuration. But that would be a pretty terrible battery and you'd not be able to charge your laptop with that. Most likely this battery is a 4s2p configuration. That means 4 cells in series, and two of those 4 cell batteries in parallel. Which means you'll get 16.8 volts and then you take the capacity of the battery and multiply it by the parallel value, so 4800x2 = 9600mah It's really deceptive marketing by the companies to state what they did, because there is no way you'd have anywhere near 38400mah of capacity in this battery. But thats aliexpress for you :D

    are these the 64x64 pannels that you got from aliexpress chained together ? if so did you use the adafruit software from github to display video? i just ordered one of the 64x64 ones you had linked in your other video and was wondering if I could display my pi's video

    • @jakesllama
      @jakesllama 9 месяцев назад

      Heya! Yes indeed sorry for late response. To display on chained displays you just need to declare parameters as seen here in the github documentation. --led-chain=<chained> : Number of daisy-chained panels. (Default: 1). If you want to stream from vlc like me it's alittle tricky you'll need but look here: flaschen-taschen github.com/hzeller/flaschen-taschen

    I wonder what is this power bank for? The case is too fragile and with the sharp corners, it is no great as a portable power bank. The other option is to have it sit on the desk, but what would be the point? I really like the idea that you can use your own cells, and replace individual cells as they go bad or to replace the entire bank of cells.

    • @jakesllama
      @jakesllama Год назад

      Yeah it's a fair point - I tend to carry it in my backpack for remote working scenarios which really helps out but wouldn't risk having it lie around. I have since broken corners from dropping or had to replace the usb-c port due to leaving the cable plugged in while it's loose in the backpack. There's loads of other IP5389 models with durable cases

    Hey there Jake bro👋 Nice video, This is indeed a very cool DIY Product. But I think it's only good upto 65w while pulling the charge out of it. I do also have this but only board module with ip2368 ic which is bidirectional pd ic. Greatscott has also done amazing video making power bank out of it. (m.ruclips.net/video/_WI9Nwqvplo/видео.html&pp=ygUUR3JlYXRzY290dCBwb3dlcmJhbms%3D) Overall I'd say it's worth it👍

    I'm powering my Pi and matrix through the barrel jack on the Adafruit bonnet, with the matrix cables going into the terminals on the bonnet. Is there any reason you chose to power the pi and matrix separately? Was it just to show power draw?

    • @jakesllama
      @jakesllama Год назад

      There's no right or wrong way - I just powered manually as I did not have a power source for the bonnet jack handy. Also I planned to place all units within a cube format - allowing me to attached a battery pack via usb so it was mobile, although I was unable to draw upto 3 amps via the battery pack on 6 panels. this will involve a custom mobile battery pack I suspect. Hope you're enjoying your new matrix, enjoy! :)
