- Today I'm checking out the new fusion champion, Packmaster Shy'ek, and giving my initial thoughts on whether or not he is worth going for in Raid: Shadow Legends!

I absolutely love that he will synergize with dog type champions. It's a cool idea even if there aren't any broken combinations with it.
I've been advocating for synergy kits just like this for a couple of years now where Legendaries gain benefits from lower rarity teammates. I hope this synergy concept gets used more often in future champs.
He's definitely going to go into one of my Hydra teams. They mentioned that new dogs may be on the way, but even without the dogs he has the skills I need currently. And I have the resources available again after skipping the last one.
Him being a force hp champ is alone worth it. That are some of the toughest stages in cursed city
Yeah 2 fell hound with aoe provoke set and blessing for big decrease speed sounds fun! That would be many important debuffs taken care of with a good taunt too
But why 😂 so much trouble to build an average at best team

Might also release a void Lego amazing hound alongside him so people do the fusion “just in case”.

To be fair we don't know if a new hound champ is gonna come out, which is why you can't definitively say it's trash, but functionally yeah, I'd say this is a great maud fusion.
@@DeathsRHM It doesn't say "any hound champ" though, which means they would have to give him a buff later and Plarium doesn't do that very often.

If his A-3 also had, “ can not remove,” I would go for him. That would be very valuable. I appreciate the outside the box approach on this champ. Honestly having to run him with one of the dogs in end game or late game to get the whole value of his kit is a no go for me. It is creative.
I'll go for him, enjoy playing the game, so nice to have something else to focus on on top of the Marius missions xD
He seems, 'okay' at the moment, but he might improve depending on what is added to his 'Hound Roster' in the future :) Thanks for the info, Nubs! Looking forward to the actual showcase in the future! :D
The idea is cool , but i will not count on plarium to add a new hound that fits this champion any time soon.
He is very strong for hydra, even without the pack, as he checks a bunch of boxes. Block debuffs without a hit is amazing.
And hex without a hit + 20% damage against hex’s places by him. Only tough part is no hex on decapitated
Very strong is a bit of a stretch. Wouldn't fit in any team for me personally

In raid short on fusion Brakus was beaten and bowed down to him. Could he find way back to being useful?
Watched both your and Hellhades vids on this...interesting you both refer to it as FOMO extreme. I personally love having in-game options to do off-beat things. This seems like just a really fun opportunity to have fun in the game. The framing by CCs that each fusion either has to be the most broken champ or a complete skip is an odd landing spot.
It is fomo tho. Sure the champ seems fun, but even plarium themselves are aware of how the synergies with dogs is kind if sub par, so they hint the addition of a new strong hound champion. This creates fomo as people who initially weren’t convinced, will now feel forced to do fusion just incase plarium decides to have a guaranteed or free login champ that’s a hound.

-> Packmaster fusion event
-> Packmaster 5* soul event for 4-5+ days after the last fusion event/s finish... who knows, maybe even a 2 week long Titan event with a Stitched Beast + Fellhound among the various milestone rewards?
-> Surprise!! NEW! free log-in Legendary Champ a week or two later who is fairly average on his own, but gets pants-on-head bonkers OP when paired with the Packmaster!?
-> 3 various Summoning events over the next 4-5 weeks, including a Summon Pool w/Packmaster featured + a 15x progressive chance with Packmaster + 2x Ancients odds w/10x chance at Packmaster...
Would probably be a good way to really milk the $$$ out of both new players AND anyone who skipped out on the fusion when it was available. ;-)
I'm think Cursed Set + Retaliation Set for this guy (im under the assumption that the hex ability just deals more damage for all ally attacks and not just the ally attack skill) and he could be a decent hydra champ and phantom grove. Given that we always get a chance at a high blessing after the fusion and he could be decent for progression in those 2 areas. Might get him but I'm also on holiday during the fusion so I wont try too hard

It's an interesting set of abilities for sure, quite unique which will make him desirable. I haven't finished my orc FW yet so will get him either way I think.
Worth noting though, that is 3 tanky support champs in a row from fusions even if the player base did select one.
I would love to see a sacred order st Bernard dog. Something like whenever he attacks when its not his turn, heals allies the amount equal to the damage or something similar. Give him counterattack and a shield and counterattack buff skill and there you go.
Oh good! I'm so glad they said that. I was thinking, wow, bunch of rare dogs .. would be nice if they made a legendary dog for Shy'ek.

I'd consider double fellhound if manageable - in in cursed, 1 in provoke....sort of a budget oboro/mikage team.

vs Fire Knight in CoS if you were to bring in Fellhound/Goremask that's potentially 5 reflect pings and 3 counter attack pings from the A1s off Hex that hit Fyro's shield. 8 free hits isn't bad least of all as an earlier player for CoS. EDIT Stitched Beast is another 2 hits and and a 100% TM drop on his a3. Deadrise 14 regular Fyro/Gryphon does have Orcs as one of the potential factions in the last 2 rotations.
Looks like a great new fusion, and I wish I'm able to get, but can't wait to see what others can do with him.
Will they actually add new dogs and updating his kit? Im sure theres a common or uncommon called something like pit cur which doesnt seem to be mentioned
Edit: I just realised there might be more common and uncommons in undead. None any good but why not just make all hounds
Regarding retaliation for his A1, Mikage doesn't join up with a Shadowkin ally when she retaliates/counter attacks, nor brought in for an ally attack. She has to be on her turn for it to work, so I'd say it will be the same for Packmaster.
Def seems like a way to hook people mid-fusion to pay for whatever fragments they missed when they dangle the must-have combo with him

i like these funky unique champs, and he actually seems decent without dogs in the team...which is likely how he'll be played unfortunately

Even if it's ally attacks, with that taunt + passive, and the A1, he's bringing a lot of ally attacks to the table himself for the damage buff depending on the number of enemies and the number of dogs
Maybe the epic dog will be next on the buff list
I wonder if they're going to make a mythical dog to pair with him. It would be cool to have a mythic fusion event, so then everyone has the chance to get it if that's the case. At least a legendary dog that is a guaranteed or fusion, but myrhic would be cool!
what is taunt doing in shogun?
also if they added another unit that would be a good pack unit for him wouldnt they need to add that to his kit? unless the next pack unit clearly has "packmaster shy'ek" listed somewhere on its kit.
Fragment champ. Easy to get. Unique ability with the dogs that could be cool with future champs. Definitely doing it
I am wondering if they plan to add temp champs like they did with the Blademasters. You only have a limited time to get these champions.
I’d like to put it out there that some people are still waiting on a coldheart after years of playing.. same could go for fellhound. I understand they are rare but that doesn’t mean you will always get it
For people still struggling with content I can absolutely see where this guy and some Fellhounds in Stun sets would just grind through just about anything. It might take a while but if you are unable to progress that tactic works at most levels and this guy seems to crank that up quite a bit. Sucks that they made him an orc since there aren't any AOE dogs in Orcs so not much use in Cursed City where I need help but definitely a bonus tactic for a lot of newer accounts if they need it.

He should have been released alongside a legendary dog. Also, he should have a dog revive. All the dogs are super squishy so I don't think this will work at all without him having some sort of passive revive for dogs, I'm thinking along the lines of how Var-Gall works. Skipping this unless there's some stupid hidden O.P team for hard content. I'll be pretty annoyed though if a decent dog is released after this guy's fusion, people skipping will be gambling that the next dog release is crap.
I think a full dog team could be fun, put some of them in provoke set, and just let them run.

I never had a taunt champion so I didn't even know that taunt prevents hydra heads from devouring. Good info thanks for that! Before your video I thought he's shit but he is actually a good addition to any account I'd say. He isn't great (3 turn cd on block buffs isn't optimal) but he does so much stuff that helps the team he is at least decent.
Reflect damage needs to be fixed so that it works with Shields and other damage cancelling effects!
Fellhound in provoke set could be a good combo in hydra
I was thinking a Cursed set for Fellhound myself, plus give him the new Nature's Bounty blessing to boost the A1 decrease speed to the big version
The Packmaster's Hex ability is only for 1 turn, and won't trigger vs. decapitated heads? Plus, he's already brining a 2 turn Taunt on a 3 turn cooldown

Will never going to use this champ, but I'll get him... if I get a dup, he'll help in my Faction Guardian since he's a fragment, which is such a relief after all these fusions....

Easy way to make the dogs usable, make his passive increase the % chance of the dogs' abilities.

That’s a really cool fragment, if you take out the hound synergy, you have a pretty solid champ, balanced, not really OP in any way. And then the hound synergy just looks really fun to play with, it’s not gonna be broken, but it’s gonna be fun.
This champ idea is borderline fun, the game needs more stuff just for the fun.
Is the champ great? Not really, still has a really good kit for mid game hydra teams.

The dog thing is really cool but if you ignore all that, he's still great for Hydra. Mischief tank with aoe block buffs and hex and single target dec def.
Just thinking... high speed in relentless plus merciless together with eostrid. We might achieve 100% taunt uptime. Just add Provoke
I skip the fucion for the queen Ankora so i didn't whent for guaranteed King because i thought i would never pull him im going for this packmaster im not letting that happen again lol
They should have added all the werewolves as well for his synergy. I just want an excuse to use Brakus somewhere cause he looks so cool
This champ needs to a LOT of testing. Hope our hard-working CC's will tackle them all.

Make his A2 a full team heal, or the surplus healing as healing for the team then he would be a great hydra champ with his passive

He doesn’t need a cursed set since when he’s hit he places it. No weak hits, always places whenever attacked

He's great for hydra without any dogs, and 20% damage is massive.
Full team cleanse and heal would have made him a much better champion for progression in hydra.

odd champ, id love to chase him but I dont want to spend resources either but if he doesnt do well enough garenteed they release a dog thats nuts so the next champ like this is fomo city

I think you are missing the point, delete all of the doggy stuff from his kit and he is still one of the best Hydra champs in the game. I think he will do for Hydra what Wixwell did for clanboss.
Seems heavily reliant on them releasing a dog with a really good A1 (multiplier must be good), which also has a kit for some specific content.
