I was seven when that car came out. That’s the time that women started driving and those were the second car in most families. They were all over the place actually the guy on the street his father own Nugent Volkswagen in Glenview and he used to have on his driveway the Volkswagen bugs and Carmen Gia cars. I don’t remember too many convertibles but being around Chicago they had the perfect bumpers that you can grab onto and sketch in the snow. They grab bars then in 1968. They came out with the one piece bumper which my brother had bought that’s what Volkswagens were decent cars and they didn’t have to get repaired every other week. My buddy could take an engine in and out of a Volkswagen in an hour.
