"Do you think Twilight would have still wanted to do it?" Absolutely. This was TS' goal right from the start of ep01. She would've probably failed, though, pretending to be friends don't count for Elements of Harmony.
We saw that in the first episode, one of Twilight Sparkle's tasks decreed by Princess Celestia was to make new friends in Ponyville. Basically, it's any mother's advice to her children as they start a new school year.
thinking about it there is one point that as a ruler celestia failed, she ruled for thousens of years, and had problems with the yaks, griffins, hippogrifs, dragons in short celestia gets an D- in diplomacy, even when she told twilight to go wake up the dragon she failed to send a proper diplomat with her so she can learn or even inform twilight that it was a diplomatic mission almost causing a war
I always thought that Celestia framed the Crystal Empire thing as a test as an excuse to keep Luna out of it. Maybe their first encounter with Sombra was how Luna became corrupted in the first place, and Celestia wanted to protect her sister this time. It's the only way her actions make sense to me, but admittedly there isn't much evidence in the show to support this interpretation.
Celestia is not only a teacher with magic. His voice is subdued. As if she were motherly. I imagine her as Gandalf but a female angel. Oh, and Avatar Roku.
@@DawnSkyStudios But without Hogwarts school. Let's remember that Celestia created a school of magic and from what we see in the show, she doesn't have any major problems.
@@DawnSkyStudios What's more, there's an episode in season 8 where Twilight gives Starlight the job of running the school. Later, Discord casts a spell on the paintings, ladders, and armor during a treasure-hunting competition. That's when we have a Hogwarts school in the show.
Thanks for having me Doc! Next time I'll just stay in my room so I don't end up skydiving when I land in a scene with no ground (I can't fly like you). This was a fun analysis! 😁
Regarding the events around Nightmare Moon's return, Celestia had a thousand years to prepare. For all we know, five ideal element bearers living in the very town Nightmare Moon would appear in was set up decades, if not centuries in advance.
I just wish some of her flaws actually got called out in the show. Because when a character makes a mistake and the show doesn’t acknowledge it (especially if it happens often with a specific character) it can get very insufferable.
When ever thinking about this question about Celestia by a good ruler or not I always find myself unable to come to a decision because of two questions for which the show gives no answer... "How much have Celestia's profetic dreams shown her about what's about to happen?" and "How much of what she does is more about grooming Twilight for the position of ruler?"...
I think Celestia made a mistake in the past because of what she did a long time ago. I think her mistake may have passed to Twilight during the start of Season Eight. We should assume that Twilight must fix her mistake before the events of G5.
Just like anyone, people will have strengths in some areas but not others. She has to have been a good ruler for her to be so beloved and to have ruled for over a thousand years...unless you believe in the theory of Celestia being a tyrannical monarch, of course. But as a teacher and mentor, she has proven that she is not the best at that. Putting Twilight aside, let's look at another case...a case that only exists in the comics, unfortunately: Sunset Shimmer, as seen in The Fall of Sunset Shimmer Unlike that of Twilight, who she saw as a worthy successor with greater patience and virtue, it's implied that she did what she could to teach Sunset about patience and humility...but Sunset did not have any of it. Sure, she could have realized that she needed a different approach to guiding Sunset on the right path, but this was when she was leading the School of Magic all on her own. She's proven that it takes experience for her to know when her students have to be guided down a different path, even if that experience is rather drastic. Just look at what happened to Twilight in Lesson Zero: She had conditioned herself into believing that she needed to send letters to Celestia on friendship lessons every single day, when that could not have been further from the truth. It's very unfortunate that it took for Twilight to take the role of adaptational villainy to be taught this, but she was eventually taught this. By contrast, Celestia had only been teaching Sunset through personal discussions about her progress in school and such, and not having any involvement in Sunset's personal life, unlike that of Twilight. If Celestia had realized that she was not enough to help Sunset, she could have guided Sunset away from becoming the power hungry villainess we see in both the comic and the first Equestria Girls film. But Celestia failed to realize this, likely from a lack of experience with teaching students who are simply up to no good or have pasts that lead them to become selfish and antisocial like Sunset.
Ye it’s an interesting subject to talk about. Celestial is a pretty mysterious character, and I like that she isn’t perfect. (Little off topic here) Well not as obvious for me how questionable her actions where (when watching it the first time). It is very much with another leader, twilight in g5, but that has been already been talked about thousands of times.

Wasn't it like comfirmed in s4 that she can see visions of the future? Maybe that's why she's always so confident in twilight

It is a valid interpretation, and it would be nice to see her trying to protect her sister after all she has done

Another thing done better in the comic, at least she puts up more of a fight there. It took me over 9 seasons for me to realize it.
Celestia isn't the worst princess
Never said she is, besides, the whole worst and best princess thing is opinion based, we tried to be more objective here
Thanks for the video to both of you, I'm glad that someone did an analysis of Princess Celestia, an interesting video.
that's why i prefer Princess Skyla

Thats the comic story the screenshots I show are from, she admitted her failure with Sunset
Celestia had been grooming Twilight to take her place from the very beginning.
That was a really amazing collars and great video about the pretty good leader
She did that part pretty decently

Sunset, the comic I was referring to is Sunsets backstory and she was one of Celestias biggest failiures
