We got this vacuum after our ecovas broke. This vacuum seems a little confusing at the beginning as you said there are lots of settings and it seems to work a little different because of the FREO AI. We have a dog two girls and two boys and there hasn't been one hair caught up in the brush in about two weeks. Obsticle avoidance is great. It does a great job with almost no maintenance as long as you check the water containers. We are very happy with the robot so far. Thanks for the review.
Is Freo Z superior to Curv or L40 for a no carpet house and long hair ?
@@Victor-f9z1m I have this same exact question.
@@Victor-f9z1myes
@@Victor-f9z1m well as you say the navigation is wonky (not obs avoidance), the mop doesnt extend to the very edge and neither the side brush. If aaallll you care about is obstacles avoidance then dont even get the narwal, better spare some money and get the eufy X10.
@@xeon2k8Narwal has better object avoidance than the X10. Also the narwal can mop pretty close to the edge, it only struggles with corners. But overall it is the best robot vacuum out right now.
I got this one earlier this week. It's good, basically the same platform as the X Ultra but with some improvements. I do wish you could turn off the obstacle avoidance, most robots provide that option in the app but this one doesn't, that's not a feature that I need and I find that when this is disabled, robots will clean closer to walls and other objects. This is the only robot that I have seen that empties it's dust bin before the start of a clean, most of them empty after the clean is done. There is a way around that, when it's done, you can manually tell it to empty in the app. I'm waiting for the Narwal Flow which should be out later this year, I think that's going to be really good. It's going to have an onboard water tank and use a mop roller, similar to the Eufy S1 Pro. Ecovacs is also coming out with the X8 which will also use a roller for the mop.
Great video, I just saw that Narwal released a floor maintainer solution that is compatible with the Z Ultra. I went ahead and ordered it for my wood floors. Will you be getting that in to test out?
From all the videos I have watched, I have seen that Narwhal has focused very much on its AI. From the base, not only knowing if it needs to have the robot remop, a surface, or if it needs to rewash the mop pads. But also, how hot the water needs to be while it's washing the pads. That is especially good if it's cleaning up. Different types of dirt, oil, or spills, etc .And of course, not to mention the AI that is completely packed into the robot itself. From the extremely good obstacle advoyance, also how it can identify if it's needing to turn off, it's brush roll and the suction. To focus on a wet mess, then it will go back-and-forth to the base station until that mess is cleaned up. Or it raising its mop pads and boosting the suction to focus on a dry mess. Not to mention the picture taking or the very good depth perception to tell how far its from the obstacle. There are just so many features with the robot itself. I think this particular robot, it's the type to turn on the AI function and leave it alone, let it figure the mess out. Hopefully, 1 day I can get my hands-on one.
Until then, I'll just keep watching your amazing videos.
Thanks for the video. Just ordered one with the automatic water exchange!
Glad I could help!
Any updates? Are you happy with the robot?
19:50 It got it when it was going to do the carpet cleaning. Had the mops spinning before it made it to the carpet.
In italy costs 799€ for the black friday, 899 other occasions. the QREVO CURV is 300€ more expensive (+25%). So for us the decision is easier.
I like it, I want one!
Hey, what is the quietest vacuum on balanced mode between the Z Ultra, Qrevo Curve and L40 Ultra? There are a lot of sales and I want the one thats the quietest when running and also when at base station (washing and drying mop).
thank you for everything!
Does it lift the mops when returning to the station?
How does the narwal z compare to the eufy x10 pro omni?
Good day sir, thanks for the video!
Currently (Black friday offers) I can get the Freo Z Ultra, Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra or Dreame X40 Ultra for about 1000USD. Which would you get? Thanks :)
This is super hard. all are good, freo z best mopping but uses alot of water.. s8 best obstical avoidance. dreame L40 is better than x40. Dream L40 is not the best at these two items but right in the middle with both.
@JustADad Thanks for the reply! How srange that you find the L40 better. According to their own page, it's supposed to be a slightly inferior model:
-Less battery 5200 mAh vs 6400 mAh
-Little less suction power 11000 Pa vs 12000 Pa
-Has 1 laser instead of 2 for obstacle avoidance
-Avoid less obstacles 100 instead of 120
-65°C vs 70°C hot water mop pads washing
Its supposed to be cheaper but because of the black Friday offer, the x40 is cheaper 🤪
Thanks again for advices and good reviews!
@@MightyCalvesI think in the comparison he said they are basically identical in performance, so buy whichever is cheaper.
Not really sure why he changed his mind and says the L40 is better. Curious if he replies.
I have the Freo X Ultra and I'm thinking of getting the Z Ultra as well for my collection, currently it's out of stock. Interestingly, I heard in another video that there is no way to disable the obstacle avoidance, that's a first, every other robot I've seen does provide a way to disable this feature and I have disabled it on my robots that offer it. I don't have pets and I pick up things that could trip the robot up before starting so I don't need the obstacle avoidance and sometimes with this feature enabled it won't clean as well.
They need to add blowing air for corners like shark does. That's alot of dirt remaining
Is it possible to use it without the cleaning solution (i.e., to still mop, but only with water)?
yeah you can turn off the solution in the app
i have the dreame x40 for a test month, how does this compare?`because the freo z is 500 dollars cheaper where i live.
It doesent have that good vacuum power but the obstikal avoidens the mopping and the ai functions are better
Dreame is better but as you have noticed 1/3 more expensive.
I just bought the x40 ultra. Very disappointed with it. It misses spots and goes back to areas it already did. It's very inefficient. The side brush randomly stops working.
@@nanobot5365actually I have found that if you turn the z ultra to the highest suction mode it does a great job. But most reviews show it in the normal mode, which is quiet but not the best for vacuuming.
How does it compare to the eufy x10 pro omni?
That’s what I wanna know! I want to buy my first robot vacuum and debating between eufy and this one.
Following
@@carolinahardin6912 I went for the eufy in the end. So far I am really happy with it. The unit as not as pretty but smaller and is less obvious. It does what it is meant to do rather well. And it's cheaper got it on Black Friday deal the Narwal was more expensive. I also have a lot of other anker products( one speaker, four headphones and one smart scale)
I know their apps are good. I had an old eufy vacuum robot before but that was no good with two Maine Coons, one Norwegian Forest Cat and a husband. The detangler on the brush actually works. I have long past shoulder blades straight strong hair 😂 Hope this helps.
Have you seen the 3i S10 Ultra??? It looks insane. I hope you get to try it out.
I thought so too, but turned out to have terrible carpet performance. Might be OK for hard floors only, but object avoidance wasn't so good either. Also app is limited, and roller gets hair tangles.
I am going to get it
How is it for cleaning specific rooms in the second map?
I returned this due to terrible edge cleaning and requiring frequent refill of the water. Cleaning time is very long also.
i get that, good points.
@@vkdlvkdl that's only for the first week or two (we have a big house) , once it knows everything and has cleaned it multiple times it becomes very efficient. Are house had about 3500 square feet of cleaning and it can literally do the entire house, three floors with two recharges. It's very impressive. I was also thinking edge cleaning would be the the biggest knock against it but really its been doing fine, just my experience.
@@Sheps246I had the vacuum for 30 days and ran it everyday so no that's not the case.
I think there might be a way for you to customize when it auto empties the dust bin and washes the mop pads
Best anti-tangle brush methinks
I love it!
It picked up a ladybug 21:27
What's the name of your little friend at 21:23?
So I had to go back and look. Wow it’s a bug. That is so funny. Thanks for that. I had no idea
@@JustADad Hehe yeah it was quite fun. At first I thought you noticed it, then you shoved your finger in there and at that moment I knew you haven't seen it. Hopefully the beetle enjoys his heated "room".
Can you please tell me how the qrevo curv compares in regard to downward pressure on the mops? Im buying both of these later to compare but i would really prefer to only buy the better mopper.
buy the curv it's a much better all around package, if the only thing you care about is mopping then get the S1 pro
The Narwal is better overall. Both do well vacuuming. Narwal is better for mopping. Curv is better for getting corners. Narwal is WAY better for obstacle avoidance.
Narwal is better where it really matters, though if you don't need the best obstacle avoidance then the curv will do fine, but it's more expensive too.
@ I ended up with the Narwal and don’t regret it. Also the curv didn’t have an automatic water system available right away, and before I hooked one up on the Narwal, I was changing the water out 3 times a day at first I was mopping so much.
No on board water tank at this price is a let down. To clean an average home it’s going to have to go back to the base a lot to keep the mops wet.
It's a pro and a con. Many years ago, I had bacteria or something grow in my Roborock S5 Max water tank. It was like big clumps of goo that grew in the tank. The robot was not used for maybe 2-3 weeks during summer, and there was some sun shining on the water tank for parts of the day. Anyway, since S5 Max had removable water tank, it was no issue just taking it out, and after maybe 30 minutes I managed to wash it out. The goo did not return after so it was no big deal. However, if it was an internal tank, then there is no way to clean it. So I have not bought any robot that does not allow me to remove the tank since. Having no tank at all is second best option in my opinion. I live in a big city in Sweden, so the water should be always good quality.
Personally, I find it will make more mess with an in board water tank because it’s just putting water in the floor and not absorbing anything.
I initially thought the same but I've come to change my opinion after using it. The mop pads have to be cleaned regularly during a mopping otherwise it just streaks the floor so it really should go back to the base station anyways, instead of just putting more water onto the floor. The vacuum does this mop cleaning quickly and efficiently, it's fast, it knows where it's going and just does it. I had the deebot t20 before and the process took a lot longer so it really dragged out the process but this seems to just work quickly, probably becuase of the hot water helps.
@ this is the reason I went with the Eufy S1 Pro, it has a self cleaning mop. Since dirt is cleaned off the mop as it works it never leaves streaks. The only time it has to go back to the base is if the dirty water tank is full, the clean water tank is empty or the dust bin is full. It does a mop washing at the base when it’s done. It also uses far less water this way so I don’t have to refill the tank often. Its regular price is the same as this one but there is always a sale.
I have 2 of these and not having on board water is not a problem. Ask me any questions. I have zero regrets.
Hey, Can you do eureka j15 pro ultra, it has been just released and they say that it has 16200 PA which is a lot in term of vaccum robot, if you could review it and emphesise on the size of the pad and the robot size compared to the dreame x40 or roborock s8 maxv ultra, also the size to the internal water tank and the size of the clean water and dirty water, abd whether the mopping pads and brush roller are interchangeable with eureka j12 ultra.
I'm fan of your work you are doing an incredible job man, chers from France
I ordered it and it will come next week.
@JustADad perfect, I knew it you wouldn't miss that one, Thank you
Now I know you mentioned that Electro lies in the water what does it actually do though?
Google
Doesn’t have an onboard water tank! Don’t buy!
It's better to not have it, means it's actually cleaning and not just spreading dirty water. The mopping pads never get dry.
@ do you have any idea how much water the Narwall uses? It has to go back to the dock three times for 150 square-foot run and it uses 45 ounces for that. It’s definitely not worth it.
Never buy a vacuum thats no on board water it takes forever to clean
Not as good as people reckon 👎
More detail please. I am considering getting one.
the dreamy X40 is a lot better that can drop it's pads extend and lift the front brush and has a good app I never look back
@@bobcat7664I just got my x40 yesterday. I'm really disappointed. It's very inefficient. It vacuums areas that it has already done and misses other spots. The side brush randomly stops in the kiddie of a room (no carpet there). In going to keep testing it, but so far I think I'll be returning it. Not sure what a good alternative is.
Sorry to hear that but there's a lot more people out there happy with their purchase have you tried to update the robot vacuum
@@bobcat7664 I updated it before using it. I wasted so much researching it prior to buying it. I just finished mopping age it's another huge con. There are strips of unmopped areas and random little puddles of water. It's definitely going back. Any other good alternatives? The idea of researching more vacuums is sickening lol
i dont get the narwal hype.. almost all of the reviews ive seen on them are lackluster but somehow they try to hype them up in their reviews.. to me... the only thing they have going for them is their AI seems quite a bit better than some others..
Interesting how it did not really address “the paw print” wonder if the floor’s wood pattern throws off the AI’s pattern matching. I hope there’s a « one pass clean it all dumb mode » rather than it trying to be too clever by half . Thanks for the real world experience and I liked the informal brand comparison at the end , it would be nice to have general comparison of brands like build quality, reliability and stuff that does not come out on a mop tests of a single item. Keep up the good work.
It's possible that the mud was too thick and the robot thought it was over waste, but it should have shown that in the app.
