  • I give the 101 a quick test and service, I do a low voltage DC power-up, clean all potentiometers and switches, give it a clean and test reception. Sorry for the shaky camera work for the first 2:05, feel free to skip it. (Must try harder Ralph)
** Please do not work on mains voltage appliances unless you are trained, you can get a lethal schock even after it is unplugged. The Yaesu has voltages up to 600 Volts DC internally. Please consult qualified personel. **
A big thank you to Rays-Tek on Ebay www.ebay.co.uk... and Aleks1620 also on Ebay www.ebay.co.uk... who furnished me with the Cinch-Jones connectors.

Great video and I love the old FT-101's I have a couple of them here and restored them to good condition. Easy to work on and many parts radios available. Working on a FT-102 now that needs a lot of relay work. Thanks for the info

It was an FT-101 (no E, EE, or EX). The original, I believe one of the earlier model 101, judging by the serial #.

I just scored a NOS, brand new in the box, example of this rig today! It was posted on Craigslist. Paid $500 plus shipping. Couldn't resist!

I love those FT series Yaesu's, a very "Mechanical" rig to say the least, very versitile as well. I'am seriously considering picking up another 101, I've had several in the past, kinda having Yaesu withdrawls!🤣👍

Shame this had no comments. RUclips is now recommending this video all of a sudden in 2022 to those that have seen other FT101 videos. Hope you read your comments and you are still around

Thanks for the comment, I am slowly getting my content noticed due to making regular videos and participating in Facebook groups. Yes I am still around but haven't done much on the FT101s yet, but watch this space!

I keep trying to watch this video and always get an error message. The same thing occurs with FT-7 videos. Is there a conspiracy against old Yaesu rigs? I'm currently eagerly awaiting the arrival of an FT-101B I recently bought, from Ebay.

Jason, my 101 also blows up the same capacitor. In your case: was needed to replace your transformer or only capacitor? How you confirm if transformer is ok. Thanks
