Mmm, I’m particularly thinking he may be worried about people getting riled up with a mob mentality. I think he also was feeling insecure and defensive because of the image of people seeing this.

To be brutally honest I really don't know if I have the strength to go stand outside of a slaughterhouse and bear witness. It's heartbreaking & all of these make me cry, and it's really hard on my mental health at times. But I'm here to support you Joey. Maybe one day I'll be able to build up the strength to do this. The animals certainly don't have the luxury of building up to it & maybe coming back another day, do they. 💔💔💔💔💔💔
You can be vegan and remain an activist in other ways. It is absolutely understandable to find seeing these animals mentally draining. If it is too much for you, you do not have to do it. Do what you are able to do and that's enough :) ❤

That one chicken just hit me so hard , I’m vegan and seen so much horrific things but the look on that chickens face , it’s pure exhaustion just reduced me to tears . I have no idea how people can justify this.
The guy in the car clearly already had the seed planted in his brain long ago. Seeing your vigil probably just keeps those thoughts fresh in his mind to think about it more. It just goes to show that even small things like this serve to keep the conversation going and the thoughts fresh in the mind of people who know what is ethical.

Apple orchard in my small community offered tours of their store and factory where they make their products. But they won't show how their apples get there. It is hellish conditions for those workers.
They get paid fifty cents for every hundred pounds of apples they pick. I am on our town's volunteer fire department and also serve as a EMT. Every once in a while we get a call to go out there because a worker fell off a ladder. Also the workers pick apples off the ground next to deer shit so there is a chance that you can get sick.
Plus those workers who got hurt working for those slave masters you never see them again. You do hear their names on the radio that they got deported.

They are also abused and exploited in the animal agriculture industries, slaughterhouse workers, who suffer from the highest rates PTSD, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol abuse and suicide more than any other industry.
@@thatveganmuslim honestly mate, some of those people would end up with all those problems if they worked at marks and Spencer's, there's a type, it's mostly the 'rough and schemey' folk. I don't think they're being exploited, they're told how to do their job by the book. It's a whole dynamic that unless you've first hand experienced it you wouldn't fully get it, it's a lot like pier pressure that causes the horror shows that go un challenged. You'll see it in videos where they're carrying on then all of a sudden management is coming or the inspector and it all stops till they're gone.

I always knew 1 day I could be a vegan or vegetarian had a few experiences were I should of turned. But 1 of the things that convinced me the most, I was walking through france and tried to take a short cut and accidentally stumbled on a slaughter house. The noise was horrific. It was a spindly that always stuck with me
My story is very similar to yours, there is a lamb slaughter opposite my nan’s house. Almost every week you see a truck of innocent, curious sheep ready to get slaughtered. Heartbreaking.
I went to a slaughterhouse too in California. As a kid in France, I was wondering why chickens "liked" to live in a big crowded house that smelled awful.

I must admit, im a vegan now and i didnt transition in one day. I have seen some videos of cruelty ruling in those heartless factories, but never actualy watched any documentary. Never needed, my consciousness turned my thinking around. Be more conscious of what you put in your mouth and you'll understand vegan. You will crave vegan. Stay strong Joey!
Yeh my transition happened over a month or so. I did watch a couple docos and read a couple books. Started feeling it was inevitable for me. Still ate meat thinking I’m not going to be able to do this ever again soon. I followed up with a Gary yourofsky speech on RUclips after I had a beef pho 🍲 then never had meat again.

probably the most effective thing is trying to get people you know irl to be vegan...problem is people are too afraid of being judged by people who actually know them which is why probably anti social people are more likely to be vegan in the first place

On getting ppl to think about the vegan way of life in my circle it just isn’t possible. My sis is vegan and a couple of my close friends. As for everyone else I know it is a conversation they avoid, mock, dismiss, don’t care, don’t want to be informed, unwilling to watch video on industry etc... planting seeds just doesn’t fertilise.

I have rescued chickens, they are beautiful friendly animals. This is so sad 🌱
Chickens have an extremely low level of sentience; they operate mainly on instinct. They don't worry about getting sick/old and it isn't like they plan out their lives.
When a chicken sees something edible, it walks up to it and consumes it. A chicken doesn't have any concept of "food" or even what hunger is. No chicken would be able to comprehend the moral argument Joey is making in this video.
Anyone who tries to discredit vegans and mock them who havent been in a slaughterhouse, are cowards.

You definitely won’t see the end of Animal slaughter houses in your life time. Chicken slaughter houses are working around the clock to try and keep up with demand. And they can’t expand fast enough.
Where I live in the Uk there’s some truly huge broiler shed being built. One is 400 meters in length.
Even if you lived until your 175 years old, you still wouldn’t see the end of animal slaughter houses.
The thing is that there is no factory farms in the uk. Farms are farms. Thats how they work.

I want to go vegan, but I can't make my own money and my family doesn't want to go vegan. I even asked my dad after watching a few of these videos. Either way, I love what your doing, keep up the great work and I'll follow in your footsteps when I get older!

Congrats on and thanks for another incredible year of activism and videos. So many great ones but this might have been my favorite, just for that great conversation with the guy passing by, and the great work the activist you were with is doing. Great stuff!
I sometimes have the sense that I'm in a dystopian horror movie series. People have no idea until they tune in and realize what's going on. I was in a ranch style establishment, surrounded by mounted animal's heads and the chandeliers were made from antlers. Outside, they had a bull with a saddle and people were lined up to take turns to sit on the bull and take photos. All this is totally normal and no one questions it. (not to mention the leather boots, purses and of course what was being served as food)

It's impossible for vegans not to feel misanthropic on most days. At times it's hard for me to get up in the morning, knowing 2,100 animals have their life taken per second unnecessarily and unjustly. The only consolation is to know most people are unaware, misinformed, and/or indoctrinated. The redemption for us not born vegan is activism.

Don’t know how you do it mate, I can’t walk past the meat section in a supermarket without feeling sick & frustrated. Let alone seeing them in a bad condition alive just before entering the slaughterhouse.

Those are 6x4 axle trucks with 3 axle "super single" trailers which means they are capable of hauling the UK weight limit of 44tons. You may have "only" seen 3-4 trucks in a few hours but thats 3-4 times 44tons which is a shit ton of meat.

When I first became a vegetarian my reasoning was,
“I have always thought of meat as animals, and never animals as meat,”
I am going to become a vegan as soon as possible (I am trying to do more research so my parents will really support it, I would love them to join me but they probably won’t, I might be able to convince them to go vegetarian tho)
I think a lot of people just don't want to face the reality of the evil that they are funding when they purchase animal products. We need to show them exactly what is happening to these poor animals.
They think if they ignore it hard enough, it will turn into pretty flowers and rainbows.
If slaughter is humane, "done in nice way"... ethical, red tractor aporoved.. etc. Why not allowed to film it. Trying to stop filming even from the outside of the building. If you are not vegan yet, now really think about this.

@@SAMSULEKMOTIVATION12 No. It's not just the fact that they have a different opinion or beliefs. It's what the belief is. It wouldn't bother me if someone preferred mountains over beaches or vice versa, but someone supporting animal abuse is definitely disturbing.
Out in the Woods there’s a difference between directly slaughtering innocent animals than accidental crop deaths. Also no animal is “SHOT” to protect our food that I know of. Thats irreverent when animals are having there throats violently slit and horrible deaths by the billion to stuff your greedy face. When there’s other foods you can eat. I don’t see how your arguing against someone who does good for animals? And I also don’t know why your arguing on a post that is trying to raise awareness with what happens to animals think you need to relook your morals on what’s right and wrong.
