Some people have different mindsets, and you can't change them. The best response is to give them a smile while still being respectful and kind - you'll loose nothing and afterall, won't ruin your day.
I used to work in Bermuda at Elbow Beach, and it is a fantastic country. Living there is a very laid-back lifestyle, but people love boat parties and rum swizzles. I thought arriving there would make me the only Filipino, but I was surprised that there were thousands of Filipinos residing and working in Bermuda. Most of them are professionals and well-educated Filipinos working in the field of finance. In addition, many Filipinos also come from the cruises.
People are very polite, and going to church is like experiencing what you see in the movies - close community ties and all well-dressed. I love wearing my coat and tie with Bermuda shorts to match 🙂
I had a wonderful time in Bermuda and will treasure the experience of having lived on such a fantastic island.
Now, I'm in Hong Kong doing content videos in RUclips (still a very new health and wellness channel) and running my own solo business.
    🙂

Oh my goodness! I can feel the trembling and all... Wanna hug you right now. While watching this video nainis ako, nafeel ko yung nginig, and natawa din ako. Wish I was with you that time kasi wala lang, katipunera pa naman ako pag mga ganitong pangyayari. Para na din may karamay ka haha. Natawa ako sa end part talaga... That's the spirit te Barbs. Love you!

Very sad that you went through that experience, he doesnt speak for the majority of locals, Bermudian nature is not normally that mean , yes there is a stigma against forieners living here and doing better than locals but there are so many here its not a individual person issue like yourself and you should not have had to deal with such discrimination from those that dont see the big picture and who are ignorant bullies, its a immigration problem allowing non bermudians the same or better living conditions than locals which make the locals mad but for every i person leaving bermuda there are more coming here so that telling ppl to go back to their country is rude and anti social behaviour that should not be tolorated. Do not allow that one person to tarnish you view of the bermudian culture of welcoming any and everyone to our island. We import everything here including different cultures and like you said we all immigrated here from somewhere if not us personally our forfathers...

Thank you so much for the nice and comforting words. I understand that some locals may have certain feelings about other nationalities coming over (affecting jobs, cost of living especially rising rental fees). But everyone’s been nice and pleasant until today’s incident. I think the guy was simply triggered. And that had he given it more thought (before speaking), he wouldn’t have said that. I hope he was fine after the encounter and it did not affect his whole day.
I very much love Bermuda, and will continue to love it. I love exploring its gems and speaking with people. This was a one-off. I’ve been here a while and have nothing but good experiences. Just yesterday, I had 2 very sweet and touching encounters.
Thank you so much for taking time to watch and explain. I really appreciate it. Have a great day.
