Glad you all enjoyed it, I was the programmer for the main gameplay. Many all-nighters getting this finished.

Sure did enjoy this back in the 80s, in fact this is one of the games that I’d skip school to play. Had a league system on pen & paper going and everything. To this day I still sing or whistle the intro music sometimes lol. Great memories.

Thanks for this great game. It was way ahead of its time. Unbelievable how realistic it was for a 1987 game. P.S.: Have you been a fan of the Edmonton Oilers back then? They were so god-damn strong in this game, it was impossible to beat them without some cheat goals :-)

For 1987, just an amazing hockey game!
Played this every time i went to my grand-parents. This game was just waaay ahead of it's time. I could play this game for hours, so addictive.

I played this game for hours at a time. It was so ahead of it's time in that you were able to be a General Manager of a team. You could make trades, release players, etc.

I was the first kid on my block to get an Atari. It was Xmas 1980. Our house was frequently The Hang Out so to speak because it was the central point for several friends of mine that all met in elementary school. I got a C64 sometime around 1985 and I've been a huge hockey fan my entire life. SuperStar IceHockey was really the first home video game (console or computer) that really felt like hockey. By the time this was released, I was in high school. This game was just insanely fun and very popular. Serious, serious play ensued and we had weekly round robin tournaments on Friday after school let out and we wouldn't crown a champion until well after midnight. One huge glitch that we finally had to prohibit was if you skate with the puck into the upper right hand corner of the rink or the upper left hand corner of the rink, come to a stop with the puck just on the goal line and then wind up for a full slap shot...this no-angle shot would score every time. And what was weird was, the puck would travel straight down the length of the goal line, trigger the goal light when it passed the first pipe and then continue sliding on the goal line down to the bottom of the screen. This action would suggest it never fully crossed the goal line between the pipes and below the crossbar but, it triggered the goal light. For fun games we would say, "Liners allowed!" for tournament games we would say, "Hey...no liners, you hosers!" Great game and just so many good times playing this!

    nice game for that time!!!
    Thanks!!
    Nice flashback!!
    The best way to score:
run towards the goalkeeper and just before that pass straight ahead

If I remember correctly, you could play 2 on the same team. But one had to be the goalie. That was the case in there Soccer game. Sporttime Superstar Soccer.... Me and my best friend used to play this way into the night in weekends. 11 years old. What a time to be a kid... I miss the 80's !!! 😔

I call these sportime titles my perverbial "babysitter" during my latchkey childhood days. I poured my heart into building a team that could stand up each season and tournament. Thrilling stuff

I made the video to archive, not only an older great game, but to remember the game and the time of my life when I played it. I spent so much time, when young and struggling, playing these games....Enjoy!

Don’t know if anyone knew this but there was a bug in the game. When you shoot, before the shot hit the goalie, you press space bar (pause) . When you resumed the game the shot was usually always a goal.

I traded for Watson on Edmonton after Year One. He was fast as hell, skated circles around everyone when fresh, and always blew past the goalie to tuck the puck into the net. He was my "Bo Jackson."

Loved this as a kid. There's actually a glitch move you can make playing center, where you skate right towards the goal with the puck and pass straight ahead. Automatic goal every time.

My friend and I used to play this relentlessly. One game we got 99 goals. The score was 99 to 7 or something, so after 99 goals we scored our 100th, but it reset back to 1 and we lost the game 3 to 7 or something lol. It was such a fantastic game.

I had a cracked version of this game that would often stop working after a game. My wins ended up being loses :(

    • @fordprefect4728

Yep. The UCF crack did not always save after the game without Speeddos, JiffyDos, etc. But the cracked version by Eagle Soft Inc. worked fine just like all cracks done by E.S.I.

I had that version too. Ended up having my local gameshop bring it home for me, spent ages playing that game. Never quite worked out the trading points bit though, as I would lose my points, even if a trade was denied.
