      Thanks for the reply mate, how is the new turbo going? was the Borg Warner Turbo original? i am skeptical on the cheaper turbos on ebay and such, any issues?@@TwiggsT4

    • @TwiggsT4
      @TwiggsT4  Год назад

      Yeah I believe the Borg is the original, I also have the same scepticism about these turbo, however it is only an air compressor, the cheaper Maxpeedingrods are made in china and they are cheap but they mass produce to make there prices cheaper than everyone else. And from doing research they are tested and for normal use these preform as they should, however if you ask more from these cheap turbos that’s when they start to fail. So I will definitely be taking my old turbo to a professional and get a hybrid made up from my oem turbo. I should then be able to go for more power and still be reliable 🤞

    • @TwiggsT4
      @TwiggsT4  Год назад

      But to answer your question yes the turbo is still going strong but I’ve now got an issue with injectors, so I might get the pp injectors along with hybrid turbo and downpipe 👌

    • @Aileron90
      @Aileron90 Год назад

      awesome to hear twiggs!, i heard with the ACV, you don't need injectors, jsut the nozzles as the injectors from the 150Hp 2.5 tdi are identical. i'm going to do the same thing!@@TwiggsT4

    I found it easier just to take the head off with intake etal attached all at the same time, had timing to do anyway and replaced the head gasket and head bolts while in there. Made a tool for the C clamps, mare. Good luck for the MOT fella.

      I only rebuilt the engine a few years ago, I do have another set of head bolts and gasket. Book time for this job is apparently 1.5 hours 😮 I have a tool for those clamps and I also have a home made wedge but I couldn’t find that today. 🤞 cheers buddy 🍻

      @@TwiggsT4 Aye that restriction and exhaust joint is coming out next timing and gasket change for the PP down pipe for sure, always something to do 👍

      I used a exhaust clamp back to front and a 13mm wratchet spanner to put the spring clamps on. Those clamp tools are made of toffee and break 🙂

    Those exhaust clamps are a TWAT usually take your fingers off - hate them.
    Then they squeak when engine moves when changing gears.

      A stainless downpipe would eliminate this 😉

  • @TheOriginalDaveJ

    Aye, strange thing.
    When I took the manifold and turbo off there was no gaskets.
    Got my turbo back from refurb and hey presto. . Gaskets.
    What a difference with gaskets btw.
    Quick question, what paint do they use to paint the hot side? Anybody know?

    • @TwiggsT4
      @TwiggsT4  Год назад

      They are machined flat and don't really need a gasket, but using a gasket it was easy enough and good to see the difference in the ports from the exhaust to the turbo. If I had the time I would port match them at work.
