    I love how we are getting so many real time.options now! Great overview as always!

    Justin: This is a great option! I am more inclined to pay for something once.. get to know it, then have a subscription option after AND have the option to ADD upgraded features (such as the "Slots" ).. Thanks for the review, very helpful.

    WOW, this is definitely powerful to send to a client so they can see what their home could possibly look like before they finalize the mortgage contract.

    Revisiting this - they now have a monthly subscription starting at $19/month. Looks like they're taking direct aim at Enscape. Much more welcoming!

      There's definitely some more setup involved with Shapespark, but once the lights get baked, you can create some pretty impressive renders!

    Looks great Justin but it is way above my budget :-)
    I think the comparison with Lumion price wise or otherwise is not great.
    It looks that Lumion has way more to offer, but Lumion is also way above my budget.
    Still a nice video. Keep up the good work!

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Willem! A Lumion License, just for the regular version, is around $1800, which is more than double the cost of this program, so from a cost standpoint, it seems like a better deal. That said, Lumion does come with significantly more features than Shapespark, so that's the tradeoff. I'd say Shapespark, Lumion, and Enscape all have plusses and minuses, it's just a question of which features and what cost are most important to people. Thanks for watching! :)

    hey..you are really great man..can you help me out i have downloaded the shakespark render software and i want to know is it possible when i render my sketchup model how can i upload it on sketchfab and how i gonna do that.thanx

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  5 лет назад

      I don't think that's how this works - Sketchfab is a place where you upload models - I think any rendering that happens happens on that site. You don't upload renderings, so you wouldn't interface it with Shapespark...

    So yeah, I'd agree , another real time renderer. No bad thing. Real talk tho, who really has the money for an $800 license of anything.. I'm open to answers, but it *feels* like a lot of u watching the channel are hobbyists/striving to become professionals ? (generalising) I have been messing with this extension myself in the last 3 weeks, my time is nearly up. I get only a little time with it (the pc running the software) isn't accessible to me 90% of the time. And my current laptop would die running anything real-time, trust me.
    I'll definite check out that deeper guide you mentioned Justin, sounds interesting. For instance, so far I did absolute nothing apart from export my sketchup scenes with default settings. Oo- I did actually (from within sketchup), add light sources (which was a menu item enabled in SU after installing the extension). But, in the exported RT, I saw zero effect of these to be honest, so there's more to learn (for me anyway).
    Thanks for the opacity tip. One thing I did find i did have some surfaces in my model which were just flat, no depth to them at all. They had brick textures applied to them. When exported, from in front of them, you can see the texture as you should. Yet, navigate behind that surface, look back at it and it will be transparent as if there is no surface there at all. -something about sketchup is kinda particular when it comes to 2-sided surfaces I believe. -I ran into a similar issue with Sketchfab.com and the developer said their renderer had issues with sketchup and dual-sided (or not) surfaces, I can't remember the exact details.
    The fact that you can add lights to this is already quite a differentiator to the Sketchfab website experience of RT. Sketchfab is pretty impressive IMO , especially for free.
    I'll have more play with this extension.
    Last thing, don't quote me on this, but due to the ubiquity of unreal engine or Unity, I wouldn't be surprised if the cost for those apps is lower than this. This is a different category though I guess, as It runs in a browser whereas I think UE and Unity run in a desktop program.

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 лет назад +1

      I do find real-time renderers SIGNIFICANTLY easier to work with, but there is usually a fairly substantial cost that comes along with them. I'm sure this is targeted more towards professionals than hobbyists, though I know I have some of each on this channel. I try to split my content so that the stuff I cover is useful to both whenever possible.
      Sketchfab is still on my list of things to cover, but I probably won't get to it until I cover VR in a couple months.
      Unreal and Unity are both less expensive, but I think they have some of the same issues you were talking about with SketchFab - the materials don't map properly, so you have to work around that, and they also have a higher learning curve. They are VERY powerful if you can get them working properly though. Thanks for watching!

      TheSketchUpEssentials happy to have some positive sketchup chat to be honest! I had a horrendous bug/crash today using my 2016 Pro version, which lost 6 hours of my work. I'm enraged!

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 лет назад

      That's no good at all! :( I'm assuming you weren't able to find an autosave and at least get some of the work back?

    • @SkillipEvolver
      @SkillipEvolver 6 лет назад

      TheSketchUpEssentials no I lost it all. I never discovered the real reason why it crashed, It happened to me once in 2017 and it is just infuriating. (Auto save every 5 mins is set in the option), along with create backup -but after the crash, which happened doing a simple draw rectangle operation, I checked windows explorer file create/modify dates on the working file and it was as if the file hadn't been opened since December of 2017. The truth is, I'd been working on it all day.
      So all I can think is, when SketchUp opened the file, somehow it failed to communicate that with windows (for whatever reason) and appeared to be saving and auto saving, but was not.
      Scanned the system thoroughly for backups or temp files, but nothing recoverable.
      I put up a post about it on forum.sketchup.com in the technical assistance section I believe but no tech support was forthcoming. In my OP, i mentioned that my hardware is old. But I think they leaned on that and concluded telling me it was likely a hardware fault.
      I've since ran health tests on the hard drive and it found no faults, so I've ruled that out.
      What else can it be? Sketchup failed in my opinion.

      Hi there! If you're looking to learn the basics of creating renderings before picking a program, I'd recommend starting with Twilight Render - it's basically a full featured render program that you can download and install for free. In addition, I've created a playlist of videos designed to help people get started with rendering - ruclips.net/video/go8UrmmZ6TE/видео.html - Hope this helped!

    Yay.. more render engines.. so many it feels over crowded already.. I like the fact that it's a one time fee though feels a bit overpriced for what it is. They should add pre made material library and a model library to make the work flow faster and the value better . You do need to renew at 400$ for hosting which makes it more expensive in the long run.. should have a cheaper stand alone on time fee version and a subscription fee for hosting that you can cancel anytime..

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 лет назад +1

      Lol - what's really funny is I've only really talked about 3 or 4 on the channel - there's just a LOT of them out there. I'm a bit confused by the hosting cost - my understanding based on this page - www.shapespark.com/docs#faq - is that if you want to, you can pay a monthly fee that is less than the $400 for just hosting some scenes, or you can use the basic plan which includes 5 scenes. I think the $400 is for updates and support as well, but I'm not 100% clear on all of that. I think a lot of programs are struggling to integrate with the way that SketchUp works with materials, which is why they all handle materials different. Thanks for watching!

    • @stevegravatte2324
      @stevegravatte2324 6 лет назад

      well said...I agree totally. After years of having to pay subscription for ACAD and NEVER being able to keep up with all their updates (for example), it would be nice to pay once for Core software and then pay for added features or subscription later.
