Michael is in top form here. His vocals are spot on and sung with incredible joy. And his dancing is off the charts good. (3:00) I don't think I've ever seen Michael happier than he appears in this performance.

he called those pauses "sizzling"...once u get to the last rehearsal u will see a load of these things and how aware he was of how a pause can dramatise an effect and draw an audience in even some more. He also used to make us W.A.I.T....was the king of anticipation. U will find for greatest of all times he released just a few solo albums...for him it was all about quality not quantity and he kept us anticipating for each album for 5 years starving and missing to get something new ...he made himself rare to create this mystery around himself ...didnt give many interviews ...appearances were rare...so u craved him even more. Even to the point that when he agreed to do the Pepsi commercials (there are a few not just the accident one)...he made it part of the contractual agreement how many seconds they are allowed to show him...he would like just be shown quickly and then be gone...so you would go...omg i want to see him some more...or u had to record it and pause the video to see him clearly...these sorts of things...He was a master of these things. Even behind the stage he would make an appearance be an event..he would not just come to the stage...no he made u WAIT...AND EARN IT... it was all part of his phenomenon. These days ppl are impatient, you can now go online and pull all at once and a song only lasts 2 mins then the next is played...everything is faster and ppl do not pay attention to details and easter eggs ...etc etc ...MJ was the master of tiny details, hints, symbols ...there was always another layer or another thing u missed to detect....and find.

3:01 Omg i love this move, i think i already told you, its called "Ankle Breaker" or simply "Rock With You Legs". You saw him do it already in the Rock With You music video, in the Triumph Tour and at Motown during the Billie Jean performance. I aslo love the movement he does at the same time with his arm to give the effect that he's pushing his head away, he always combines the Ankle Breaker to that🔥

Seph are you gonna be reacting to any of the 1987 performances too? There's a few songs he performed that he took out of the setlist for the '88-'89 concerts. Such as: Things I Do For You, Off the Wall, Lovely One, and Shake Your Body. They're all amazing!! Also Billie Jean was quite different as well

Please, remember this era when you start to listen that MJ couldn’t or didn’t like to sing live. In the next tours he will often have health issues and do playback.

Michael didn't like to tour, but definitely not because of singing live. Michael said in an interview: "It's a difficult thing to tour. You go from one continent to an other. You're sleepy, the time zones are different, you can't sleep after the show, the adrenaline is up."
And even if he did later, you said it he had health issues. Most artists who stand without dancing use playback. So imagine him dancing non stop and singing at the same time and aging. Of he earned to use playback later on in life he earnt it
