  • This video is a follow up to my last video where I wrecked my storage front cover on my 2018 Polaris Sportsman 570.
    In this video I show you the steps I took to install those aluminum repair kit hinges that you see all over Amazon and Ebay. The links below may not be the exact ones I ordered but there are so many and I'm sure they are all the same.
    If you don't have the cash to replace the whole thing or can't find an available replacement, this may be an option for you. I was fully prepared to buy a new lid if what I did here didn't work but wanted these hinge reinforcements anyway. I believe 2017-2020 all use the same style of lid but don't quote me on that. Double check fitment before you order parts.

    Lol. 3 kids in the house here too.
    Grease holds washers pretty well. Take care. Nice video!

    Nice job with that repair.
    Those hinges look good on there should work out just fine.

    This front-end design on the Polaris was a terrible design. You crafted a solid to repair and replace the damage from your crash. You saved a ton of money going this route instead of buying OEM Polaris parts to fix everything. This video should be helpful to someone who needs to make a repair. Good job man.

      Thanks buddy. I'm just being honest with myself and showing what I didn't like and how it can be fixed. Too many people are pro this - pro that... from tools, to quads, to trucks haha.
      I have to give credit to whoever came up with the original design though, such a great design and its quite solid now.
      There just wasn't much for repair videos so I figured I was going to be working on it anyway, I might as well do a step by step for my process. You're right, I think it'll help someone else out in the future.
      Thanks for the comment buddy! Love that new ride of yours... can't wait to see it in action.

    Nice job and nice that the aftermarket people are making parts. Obviously not the first one that has broken.

    • @ElevationATV
      @ElevationATV  Год назад +1

      Nope! Certainly not. When I first got the machine I wanted to get these brackets to reinforce the original. Only one guy in the US had them... fast forward a few years and they're literally everywhere lol.

    Awesome job the riviots in front look like belong . One would think polaris when design make the metal hinge standard come with not plastic junk . Not like we dont pay good bucks for these toys lol . But you made it ten times stronger nice job 👍

    • @ElevationATV
      @ElevationATV  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I was never a fan of the plastic hinge but then I have to remind myself the stock lid alone is very light weight. You add things like a metal rack, metal basket, heavy items in said basket... it adds alot of weight. So, really it's not "Polaris's" problem, per se. The after market metal reinforcements would have been destroyed or had broken anyway with that collision.
      But yeah, it's solid now. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
      Thanks Norm! Appreciate the comment and watch.

    Thank you for sharing this info, I had no idea such a kit existed and I’m thinking about getting one myself now. Never did like how Polaris designed that. I’ll be going Muskie fishing this summer on Roland Lake with people from Polaris Industries and I’ve been making a list of “why did you’s” to ask them…this is on the list 😊

    • @ElevationATV

      I wanted to get these shortly after getting the machine. I noticed that it was a weak point and when I went online there was like only one guy in the USA making them. So I held off because of the price at the time.
      I don't know if it's necessary a bad design, I mean a stock lid is pretty light. If you combo that with a bumper that has good brush protection then you're probably going to be okay. My bumper has more low end protection so it didn't help me here.
      But yeah, they are pretty reasonably priced now. Pretty simple design, I probably could make them but I just didn't want to screw around and I just wanted it fixed lol.
      Musky fishing!? WHEN ARE WE LEAVING?! LOL
      Thanks for the comment buddy, appreciate it.

      Thank you, I'm happy with it. When the front rack is on I don't even see the rivets anyway... so it came together nicely.
      Thanks for the watch and your comment. Appreciate it!

      No you're right about that buddy. When it happened, I thought it was going to be much worse. I think it was around $60 in parts where as a new lid was going to be a minimum of $300 for new. They are so hard to find used that don't have the same problem lol.
