Thought i'd finally make a comment after lurking for a couple weeks, I gotta say that this stuff is pure GOLD. Thanks coach for the awesome tips, it flows into my wrestling style perfectly and finally gives me something that's fairly high % from closed guard. Not to mention your ghost escape series is also amazing. Keep up the good work and detailed explanations this shit is fire.
friggin’ awesome coach. I play this game and against good guys they always bury their elbow when I try to drag it across. Now I know how to deal with it once they bury it. Will get the kimura setup and threaten the wristlock, if I don’t get it will armdrag to back. If he rips it out then get the kimura again. What a great setup. Thank you. Can’tnwait to try.
Yeah, at first I was kinda concerned about that other arm being freed up, but then again just use the guard to throw em off balance and hafta post out with that arm
Great series! If you're not sick of closed guard stuff, I'd love to see your take on the hip bump -> kimura -> guillotine -> 100% sweep -> scissor sweep -> switch... (and probably a few other) series.
You lift him up and throw him down instead taking him down by going down with him. Their head goes down on the concrete and knockout. Lethal self defense, effective to finish the fight quickly. You don't wanna take chances and take so long just to execute threat.
is it possible to go for an omoplata when you have the reverse kimura grip? it seems like you could theoretically swing your leg over the shoulder while trying to rip the arm free. or even a modified gogoplata choke
I tried this today in sparring and everything worked great until I tried the wrist lock because of heavy sweat my partner slipped and escaped his arm. It is super sneaky though no one will see it coming hope to get it next time
Any concern if the guy locks his hands together? I'm guessing this stops the wrist lock but opens up other options (maybe baratoplata since the other arm is no longer free to block the leg from coming over?)
Locking would a good way to get dragged easily. Baratoplata is there but not something I go to a lot. It fails for me due to lack of flexibility. I would just armdrag.
Used this and got my instructor on my first try, however he didn’t tap so my goose wasn’t tight enough (e.g. I didn’t grab towards the fingers enough).
Sounds good. That’s a lot more technical than I get. I just want to be high on the knuckles. I don’t go that in depth enough to know one way or another. Maybe!?
hey coach, i'm just amazed at your videos and i find them really instructing. i have one question though, and i'm sorry if you already answered it somewhere. Since i'm an mma fighter, do you think this technique would be effective since we're wearing gloves? Or should i just use it on bjj/submission? Thanks for the great videos.
This is for grappling really but the more you train it, the more you can hit it on a moments notice. Like a lot of moves, there is motion that needs to be developed and then it actually can pay off in MMA even if the general move is not designed for MMA.
Remember white belts! You're not allowed to wrist lock under most competition rules. (Although in training most of your colored belt partners will be happy to let you try and then wrist lock you a lot, lol)
This may sound stupid but your instructions are so realistic.
such a great instructor! Such great material! Big thanks brother! these "series" segments are pure gold!

Very awesome, ty for sharing!
Clever! It works
Omg nice
More good stuff thank you
Awesome video
Love the series
And Sylvester is doing the video XD
Awesome!!!
Great stuff. Love it!
Sneaky slick!!!
Cool technique but how do you protect your face if he starts punching you?
You need to execute quickly before that happens for sure. Once applied correctly, strikes won’t save them as the pain will be too much!

i’m a white belt
Wow that’s awesome! Yeah you need to get the sweet spot on the back of the hand/knuckles.
TeachMeGrappling Coach Brian My coach teaches us to focus on the index and middle knuckle and rotate to the ulnar side. Thoughts?
