I think Jord would be interested to hear about some of the processes of some ancient foods/condiments that involve fermenting like Garum. They would essentially leave out whole fish in salt in the summer sun to decay and the resulting juices were used as a condiment. There’s accounts of the process smelling so awful that it was unlawful to make near civilization, but the end product was considered liquid gold. But imagine the first guy to try it 😂. “Oh yeah, I forgot I left that pot of fish to cure out. It’s been a couple weeks, and the smell is god awful…lemme taste it”
When using a fan, placing a depot in front gives an easy place to put items for processing without worrying about them despawning or having to throw them and also stops the magnet taking them back.

you can also use the create item vault with refined storage or applied energistics. also always funny seeing someone use large waterwheels and then "oh, have to speed that up" :D the normal waterwheels do double the speed and half the stress. so essentially the same as a big waterwheel with using cogs to speed the rotation up once by 2x
Mathematically, the numbers for the most quartz you can get for method1 which is to sieve the soul sand(19% for 1 Quartz)& method 2 which is bulk wash the soul sand(12% for 4 Quartz) I used Gemini for this so take it with a grain of salt heh To get 1000 Quartz, You need to sieve 5264 soul sand. Or You need to bulk wash 2084 soul sand... I was too curious haha :D
You can vein mine crops with right click and vein mine in this pack, and it does replant. It even works with mix and match plants. That is how I am currently tending my farms, including mystical agriculture (twerk + vein mine + hold right click gets you a ton of essence in a 7x7 farm with even only 1 row having a line of essence seeds.). Just be certain not to left click. If you left click, it will make you replant!
The only "issue" with ID is the sole fact you have to sieve for the sapling. sieve dirt to get grass seeds, 4 seeds make a moss, sieve that for the sapling. i had a squeezer and drying basin looooong before i even looked up how to get the sapling.
The gems can be turned to blocks in a 3x3 grid to reduce the space they take up. Storage drawers can be crafted from putting a chest in the crafting grid without the need of extra wood around it. And you can make apple trees with a sapling and two apples. to have a constant source of apples

You can still dupe dirt by making coarse and pathing it, then breaking. It is just a little more tedious, with no chance of gravel back.

Lactose tolerance is actually relatively rare among ethnic groups, it’s just that two of the three that did develop it happened to go on to populate large portions of the world. The three groups that developed lactose tolerance for adults were sub Saharan African pastoralists, Northern European farmers, and some mongols. Each group had a particular reason why it was beneficial to have lactose tolerance later in life, even though most groups would lose it after infancy!

All you do is put the vanilla tool into a crafting table. I’ve only watched 7 minutes so far so hopefully you haven’t already figured it out this episode
I still love the anecdote: cheese was created when someone was crossing a dessert and so filled their water skin made out of an animal's stomach with milk instead of water and when they when to drink from it near the end of their trip it had become cheese curds from the heat and enzymes in the stomach lining.
Captain you should consider making a dank for the sieve products. Useful to not have things cluttering everywhere, shouldn’t be too hard for you to bring it to diamond level.

My guess for why so many foods that, by logic, would seem revolting and in the early stages probably were have been refined long enough to actually be good is that starvation, and the desire to do anything to avoid it, has always existed.
I'd personally prefer if you did utilize the island's resources like the cows and wheat farm. It just speeds certain parts along and makes the most sense as they are definitely there for you to use them. Otherwise, there's really no point in the different islands. Plus, we all know we'd use them ourselves if it was us.

The cheese was actually an accident, i forgot the place but in a desserted place milk was really refreshing and a person got lost with milk in his container and it turned into what we now know as cheese
yuo can't shift-click coal or charcoal into the bottom of furnaces because it always tries to go into the top--because coal/charcoal gets cooked into graphite. the recipe for graphite overrides the fuel.

Personally, I would do a 4x4 so that it divides a stack evenly. 5x5 is faster, but you've got a bunch of open space on the 3rd sift

I think that having such early access to a bed is the biggest cheese of the cozy island that I don't think has been talked about yet
