Chas, thank you so much for the great video. I'm an old geezer but I have never soldered anything before. You taught me how to solder! Got the same soldering iron as yours, watched your video twice, and my Morserino went together first time. The hardest thing for me was that antenna connection; boy that's tiny. You should have seen the smile on my face when I flipped the switch and the darn thing lit right up! Thank you thank you thank you!

Just received my MR-32 kit yesterday. I watched your video twice and put the kit together with no issues with the main build. Installing the Lipo batterry was another issue. Problem was was with the battery connections (powerpole). Took me almost as much time to do that as to build the kit. Had to use the extra spacers to fit the battery and the powepole connectors. (thats what they are for). Thanks for your great video.

Thanks, Chas, very nicely done. I followed step by step and as a novice kit builder, I learned a lot.

Finished assembling mine yesterday. I’m new to electronic kits and soldering. Ordered and soldered two other beginner kits just to learn some soldering. Important for the Morserino is a small (tiny!) tip and thin solder.
Only problem I had was soldering one of the wires to the board. It slipped through the hole and the insulation got soldered, not the wire. Never could clear the solder from the hole and wound up soldering the wire to the top side of the PCB.
But, it all went together Ok and it works great!! Awesome little kit and very useful functionality.
Hint: Remove the thin, narrow protective tape from the receptacles where the paddles insert.... Otherwise they won’t work and you’ll panic wondering what you messed up. 😉

Thanks for producing the video, I followed along as I assembled mine. Worked perfectly. (except the on-off switch, maybe because I'm using USB and not lipo) I've owned the kit for a year, finally got a good soldering iron and it went together with no trouble.

Hey Chas, thanks for a great video, I watched all the way through and learned alot. Going to be assembling my Morserino this weekend and now I'm more aware of all the little gotchas I need to avoid. Barring any issues with parts (feeling your pain, VA2SOB- been there, done that!) I'm hoping for smooth sailing and a clean build. Thanks for taking the time to put this together and walk us through the process, very helpful. de KG9MG

Thanks for the great video! I used your tip on soldering and it helped me greatly. Lit up the screen as soon as I put power to it. I was stumped at first with no audio but sent an email to Willi and he is sending a new one to me. In the mean time I can use my headphone to practice.
Thanks again for your great video!

Is this kit for a beginner builder or one with some building and soldering experience. I'm a little nervous about giving it a try.

If this was your first video, then you could have fooled me. Nicely done. You mentioned your keyer, what type did you settle on. Also, how’s your morse code coming along?

I am totally, totally new to all this. This video is wonderful, and I think should get me through. I have ordered the MR-32 kit and the Weller soldering iron he mentioned. Can anyone tell me specifically (like an Amazon link if possible) which solder I should buy and what temperature I should set the soldering iron to? Any help much appreciated. (I did also order a practice soldering board). Thanks. Bonus question: If you want to order an old fashioned morse code key? is that the right word? does anyone have a recommendation?

I use Kester 24-6337-0027 | Sn63/Pb37 Solder WIre, 44 Rosin, .031 diameter, 66 Core, and set the temp to 700f. Thank you for the kind words, they are appreciated.
      My latest build is www.instructables.com/id/RadioGlobe-Spin-to-Search-Over-Web-Radio-2000-Stat/
It was a challenge, but at the moment, I’m the only one to build one, other than the author. Towards the end of the long instructions, I have posted my build.
      Best wishes and be safe,
      Chuck

The temperature of the soldering iron should be ~700 degrees F. The dial is calibrated in F on my Weller.
You can start looking for a KEY at hamradio.com and search for Morse Code|CW|Keys. The prices vary greatly.
