Glad to see someone identified, and translated the language on the one stone. I've heard (even here in Limey land) of the Pocohontas Coal Co, which I presume was somehow connected with this story. A pity that you couldn't tell us more about the mining tragedy, and what it said on the lad's stone - presumably he was sufficiently recognisable to be identified afterwards?
My great grandfather was a miner on Cannock Chase, and I've inherited an interest in mining history. (I was waiting for the matter of ghosts to crop up - usually does with US cemetery videos for some reason. I'll give you a tip - don't go specifically looking for them. They know you are, and keep well out of the way, just for fun. It's in their Union Haunt Book.)

As to nationalities differences in coal mining areas, that is NOT unusual at all. I live in a mining area in south central Illinois. The seven or so small towns and hamlets in my area all were built around separate mines and the miners came from all over Europe. We had English, Scottish, German, Austrian, Italian. Croation. Serbs, Czechs, Lithuanian, Russian. Ukranian, and Irish in a total population when the mines were operative of seven or eight thousand people. Catholic and Russian Orthodox persons had separate cemetaries, but everyone else were either buried in city cemetaries or on private farm land in country family plots.
