    When you recorded singing I think, "ok, nothing special"..... but at full mix and posprocessed voice I just have a jaw dropped to the floor. WOW!!!...

    Amazing video! the launcher adds something like a 3D efect, I feel that adds more sound all around, I don't know how to describe it.
    I love it.
    Thanks for doing this video. It's super helpful

    Great video, I really like your channel. I own a matched pair of 013 fet and they are simply amazing. Warm lows and smooth top end. There’s a dip in 10k range which could create lack of clarity, but that can be improved with eq. Having said that, the launcher looks great.

      I had bought a used pair of the 013 Tubes when I did this video, I got a really good deal on them. Not sure what I would have picked if I reviewed both first, the FET versions are such a great deal for the money, and very similar.

    hard to deny the impact of the tubes. More exciting, sounds more finished very nice! That's my experience too, tube mics contra fets where tube mics sounds more finished, polished and exciting. Half job done before you start to mix! Good Job !

    For balanced presentation of frequencies, I'm a little disappointed that the tubes produce such a clear, classy picture by comparison. More "mix ready", as folks have said; not that the FET/non launcher signal was bad or couldn't be tailored with eq. Even so, the FET/launcher combo really impressed me on drums & bass, & while the launcher has been on my radar for a while, this is the first demo I've seen that confirms how it can shine, & on what sources. Thanks for putting in the effort to make this shootout!

    Great episode! Sounds great. The launcher definitely has the punch in the low end and open in the mids and highs really beautiful coloring.
    I’m really impressed. Will have to get a launcher deluxe soon.

    Looked away until I liked the sound more, then looked back. Every time: FET + Launcher.

    I think the guitar solo really solidified it for me. The FET with Launcher Deluxe combo is the winner. I'm very curious however how it would have sounded with the TUBE and Launcher Deluxe combo, but thanks for putting this together! If anything, it makes me want a Launcher Deluxe. I have a pair of the original Launchers but they're usually not in my mixing process due to their incredible gain boost. Now with the use of saturate mode, I would finally be able to use them on the mix buss. The FET was already very clear, but the Launcher added so much more to it. That guitar solo was a great place to showcase those differences.

    I almost always preferred the more natural sound of the fet. I guess if I want to glitz up the sound, the launcher or judicious EQ would my preference over the hyped sound of the tubes. The bottom end of the fet is untouchable and the top end is far more refined imo. On vocals there was an intimacy and presence that drew me to the fet again.
    Great job putting this review/comparison together!

      Ya, I agree. I'm glad I got the tubes, but it's a lot more money for those extra few percentage points. That's usually the case with most expensive stuff though...

    To my ears the tubes sounded a little fuller and "bigger" then the fet as if there is a more detailed information. the launcher i find a bit harder to make out. there is definetly something. i find it hard to pin in words. more a feeling of.... pleasing. considering the prices i dont think i would pick up the tubes over the fet. the difference just is too hard to justify. however the launchers offer possibilities. just that little bit of taste somehow. at 600usd i still a hard sale, but i think that is a bit more realistic.

    I was thinking to get a preamp for my tlm 103 but i'm considering the soyuz 1 channel, Any opinions ?

    • @MillSounds
      @MillSounds  Год назад +1

      I've used TLM-103's a lot in the past, they have a lot of high end air on top. I would be worried the Launcher Deluxe might make that mic a little too bright and sibilant on vocals. Worth a try though!

    I don’t hear a lot of difference between fet and tube.

    • @MillSounds
      @MillSounds  7 месяцев назад

      Then I saved you a lot of money, you’re welcome 😂! I bought the 013 Tubes first, I got an amazing deal on them used. Soyuz sent me the FETs to do the comparison. I still love the tubes, but the differences were pretty small at times. If I had done the shootout first, I probably would have saved money and gone for the FETs as well.

    Why is there never a Tube/Launcher combo in the test?

    • @MillSounds
      @MillSounds  11 месяцев назад +2

      I didn't have enough radial splitters/launchers to do all of that at the same time 🤣. I had to pick, and I figured more people would be curious about the fet/launcher combo. I've honestly not even tried running the 13 tube through the launchers yet, I'm always pretty happy with the 013 tube as is.

    • @Aquiiin
      @Aquiiin 11 месяцев назад

      thanks for the reply. I feel the Launcher is great but very very subtle. I wonder if a nice preamp or other boxes like the RND Masterbus Transformer for example would give a better, more obvious result @@MillSounds Any leads?

    • @MillSounds
      @MillSounds  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Aquiiin I've got a RND MBT coming here on review next month, I'll let you know! The Launcher is subtle most of the time, but can interact very differently depending on the preamp an how the impedance differences interact. They definitely like being pushed a bit on louder sources, I like them more on drums and guitar amps (my Soyuz 1973/Launcher combo is going to be glued to guitar amps for a while).

    • @Aquiiin
      @Aquiiin 11 месяцев назад

      @@MillSounds awesome! curious about what you find out! I think I will save up for the MBT as well!
      Regarding 1973, its sounds a bit bright and shouting to me. Like for news or certain advertisements. Don't you like the Bomblet more for guitars and amps?

    • @MillSounds
      @MillSounds  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Aquiiin I loved the Bomblet, but have some mics that are in a similar ballpark sonically. The 1973 was really different, and sounded absolutely amazing on amps and outside kick drum (it was worth it to me just for those two things). I did prefer the Bomblet on most acoustical instruments and vocals.
