      Thanks! You won't be disappointed with the buggy, but the build process is a bit frustrating (for reasons that'll become apparent when you start putting it together!) The finished product looks good and drives great! 👍

    Oh, yes! I already watched this video twice and I think I'll watch it again!
    I'm loving how it jumps and generally handles on that dirt track, what a great place you found for it, it is the Dirt Master after all!
    I just got me one, and I'm done with the build, very nice, I will start painting today, really looking forward to getting it out soon, except it's raining like crazy, ha ha...
    I think I'll grab another coffee, watch this again, and the song is nice, too!

      Yes, I did have the optima back in the 80s and I remember how noisy the chain drive was and changed to a belt when the conversion kit became available. Kyosho are about quality and in my opinion one of the best RC company’s.

      Thanks for watching! The Dirt Master is a real performer! The only mod I've done to mine is fit a Javelin rear wing to it, as the kit one is a little on the flimsy side and doesn't stand up to much abuse. Mine is also running stiffer springs and thicker oil for use on high grip carpet, so not exactly ideal for a dirt track. Nevertheless it was a hoot to drive! 😁

    Cool 👍 It's amazing that you're shooting while piloting yourself. I also took some RC videos, but I can't shoot so much following the car. I don't think it's possible with a stick type transmitter.

    • @KaiCityRC
      @KaiCityRC  Год назад +1

      Thanks! I use a pistol grip transmitter so I can drive one handed while filming with the other. That isn’t possible with a stick controller. The only work around would be to attach the camera to a selfie stick and then attach that to the transmitter somehow.

      It was so nice to run on a proper dirt track...it has been so many years since I've had the opportunity to do so. It's just a shame that this particular circuit is so expensive to get to from where I live.

      This was shot at Tsukuba RC Arena. It's about a 2.5 hour drive from where I live. It's a long drive, but the Arena is worth it as it has so many tracks. (video coming soon!) But what makes it less appealing is the cost in fuel and expressway tolls - it's about £80 / $100 just to get there and back. 😩 As I already spend way too much money on this hobby as it is, and I have a good track close by, it will be hard to justify visiting this one "regularly". But at some point, I will return! 👍

    Hello David, great video and great looking Dirtmaster!
    Can I ask you for a front and rear suspension set up suggestion in mm?
    Because I struggle to find something that works for me.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards.

    • @KaiCityRC
      @KaiCityRC  4 месяца назад +1

      Sure! I have the kit dampers set up as per the manual. Front adjustment collar is pretty much wound all the way up, the rear is 5mm from the top. That works for me, my driving style, the tracks I run on and the electrics I use. Hope that helps. 👍

    Great video! Of all your buggies is there one you’d recommend for running on the beach and sand dunes? Particularly from a protected drivetrain perspective?

    • @KaiCityRC
      @KaiCityRC  Год назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting. 😊 Alas, I've not yet had the opportunity to run any of my buggies on a proper sandy beach! 😥 So I can't comment with much authority. The owner of the RUclips channel "Toys They're Not" regularly runs on the beach, so it might be worth leaving a comment over there.
      I can say, in fine powdery dirt the Dirt Master did surprisingly well at keeping the dirt out. I always put a bead of grease (usually anti-wear) around the edges of gearbox pieces before assembly. It acts as a sort of gasket, helping to provide a better seal. This seems to work quite well.
      As for the buggies, 2WD would be my choice (less drivetrain components to worry about). Definitely avoid the Optima's as the belt guides are not very well dust sealed. The Scorpions gearboxes are pretty well sealed and easy to clean if the worst happens. Though sand could possibly enter via the spur cover. In that regard, the Ultima is better as its spur cover comes with a sponge gasket. On the Tamiya front, I'd say that the Lunchbox would do well. It's easy to maintain and tear down should you stray too close to the water! And the big tires would be beneficial in deeper sand.
      Hope that helps!

      @MRX5000X Год назад

      @@KaiCityRC Thanks for the detailed review and tips! Due to the rarity and specialness of the legendary series buggies I'm hesitant to run them in the sand. I'm thinking a buggy that's more disposable or has lots of parts availability makes more sense.

      Correct! I went there this past weekend! It was good to run the YZ-2 / YZ-4 somewhere new. I ran mostly indoors on the main track, but I couldn't resist going out to the 80's style dirt track. Because it was so hot and humid, no one else was there! 🥵 😅
