Racking in 13 sacks in 2018 and 14.5 in 2019, he has become one of the league’s top defensive talents. @John Underrated basically means people don't notice how much he does for the D. He is literally considered a centerpiece for the Steelers D and has been since his 3rd game into his rookie year. He isn't underrated.
@John I agree there but Garret is one of those players that no matter what will get put in that "above everyone else" convo simply cause his draft status coming out of college. Same with Chase Young in a few years if he stays healthy and plays good. Just gotta ignore the few players they decide to overrate until the hype dies down.

As a cowboys fan I was so mad when we drafted taco charlton over t.j. Watt, I didn’t even now who taco was before the draft.
It would have worked out perfectly because our line backers would be left outside t.j., right outside leighton vander esch, middle linebacker jaylon Smith, with Sean lee as the 4th line backer, tell me that’s not the best linebacker core.
@@cprimetime9888 the cowboys run a 4-3 defense though so the outside linebackers don't pass rush, so t.j wouldn't have fit into that system unless they moved him to defensive end

Kyle Volpeil it’s like comparing 5 lineman who were drafted before Trent Williams and start bring up centers and guards. Just barely makes sense just because they play close to each other. Vastly different responsibilities and different necessities (size, speed, strength, IQ, etc).

Guys that may have high upside but some flaws, technique issues, size issues, personality issues, or even legal issues. The difference between inside and outside lb is huge....its not the same position at all. Thats like saying a saftey is a corner back. Inside are play callers/ball chasers and clean up tacklers, they should be judged by tackles. Outside is judged by sacks period. Well, any tackle for loss.

My Eagles had a need a DE/LB and I remember specifically watching him play the Big 10 game vs Penn State and that moment tweeted that he is the guy we needed! We ended up drafting a DE, too bad it wasn’t Watt. We took Derek Barnett who has been sub par and prob won’t ever make much of an impact.
That draft is stacked at the late 1st early 2nd round. Guys like Watt, R Foster, Ramczyk, B Baker, Dalvin, Gerald Everett were all taken within like 10-12 picks 😑

to be fair, not everyone fits a specific scheme and TJ didn’t fit what my Lions needed. Davis was more a prototype 4-3 which is the d we run. more coverage and stopping the run. TJ is more pass rush and 3-4. Would i rather have TJ now, absolutely, but he didn’t fit what we needed at the time.

Ehhh. Only Miami probably wished they had made a different selection. Watt is a 3-4 OLB. He couldn't play in Detroit. If he did it would be as a specialist with a limited role in the defense. He just doesn't fit what they do. The Cards got a good player in Reddick. They needed inside help and got a baller. Davis will probably end up being a solid player and worth the pick. Miami runs a 3-4 and could've absolutely used a better player.

I think this was a good video but what I call this misleading journalism...Let me explain....You cannot compare just the players, You will have to explain the situation from which they got drafted. The previous 3 players before TJ went to Detroit, Arizona, and the Dolphins. The Steelers combined went to more Superbowls in a decade than these teams went to the playoffs combined. The Steelers organization is much better and a better system to step in with a higher ceiling for player success. Getting drafted and success for the most part for alot of draftees careers in the NFL is based on placementt.
Bottom line with real journalism you have to compare apples to apples. These other 3 would have had a much better chance of success if they got drafted with the Steelers instead of the teams they went to. And I guarantee TJ would not have had them same numbers if he went to the 3 teams the other linebackers had to go to and endure them organizations misfortunes. I really like TJ's game but just keeping it real!!
I'd like to chime in a bit.
First, respect to Reddick, he's done well with the Cardinals. It's possible if he and Watt were swapped, that he would have been what Watt is. The rest? Nah.
Even if on a bad team, if a player is on the level to be a Pro Bowler, they will shine. Harris clearly has no in Miami, while Minkah Fitzpatrick was so good it got the Dolphins a trade for a first round pick.
As for the guy in Detroit, I think it's unfair to compare an MLB to an OLB. He's stopping runs and covering the middle, not expected to rush the edge and get sacks.
Sorry but Watt isn’t a linebacker. Comparing him to actual linebackers is stupid because they played wildly different positions. Luke Kuechly and Bobby Wagner are Linebackers. TJ Watt is an outside linebacker which basically means he’s just a defensive end in a different formation. Von Miller and Khalil Mack are “linebackers” but in reality they are just pass rushers just like a defensive end. There’s a reason why they changed the all-pro award for defensive ends to just be called “Edge rushers” because DE and OLB are basically the same position and it was stupid to give Khalil Mack all pro in both DE and LB. You can’t compare Watt to true inside linebackers that rack up 100+ tackles a year. To not mention guys like Myles Garrett (who was drafted 1st that year) is ridiculous. Watt is a beast no doubt about it but please do some more research.
