I'm a maxis match person, but the idea of harassing someone for using alpha cc is wild to me. If someone wants to do alpha cc, that's fine! It's their game, it's their Sim, they can do what they want. Why would you harass someone for that?
My thoughts exactly! I've tried both and each are alright. As long as it's free I don't mind 😅 I love the Alpha hair and build items, but I prefer Maxis cause I'm lazy and I don't want to change every sim in my game so they all look similar.
It's confusing to me, too. I absolutely have the way Alpha CC looks, but that's just because I hate how video games try so hard to look realistic. I prefer cartoon looking games, so when the new sims 4 style came out, I was ecstatic. Still, as a gamer I'm fully aware that there are people that do enjoy the ultra realistic style. Different strokes for different folks, I'm not gonna harass someone because they have a different preference than me.
He was a Maxis Match boy She said, "See you later, boy" He wasn't good enough for her She had an Alpha CC face But her head was up in space She needed to come back down to earth... 💀🤣
alpha cc is soooooooo gorgeous and the only, ONLY reason I don’t use it myself is that I want everything to match style-wise so I would need to download so much cc that my laptop would explode lmao. Alpha cc creators (and users) are wildly talented and I’m never disappointed by the gorgeous creations they make. That being said, maxis match creators are also wildly talented because they can match the style SO WELL that sometimes it’s impossible to tell the difference between cc and maxis. Also thank you fgg for pointing out the racism aspect with alpha cc hate because it’s SO TRUE.
Largely paraphrasing “ we're too used to writing down/sharing every internal thought we have, and then sharing how we disagree with others” absolutely fucken agree with this. “if it doesnt effect you then maybe shut the fuck up” preach!! It's so easy to just ignore content you don't wanna interact with. It takes so much more energy to interact with/put energy into something you dislike that rather than just skim over it and ignore it. I feel like this can be applied to so many aspects of the internet & life
THIS. I will never understand people who choose to engage with content they hate when it isn't even hurting anyone. Even if I didn't care about other people's feelings, I would much rather spend my energy on stuff I enjoy.
@@rabidpinkbunny8915i guess cuz sometimes it is hurting them, but not others. so for many something may seem harmless- when to others it’s damaging in some way. while i agree there are many times we should keep our mouths shut and mind our business (maybe this is one for me) we need people to speak up too. ofc, with the exact context of the video it’s much less srs but a lot of things that seem trivial and small can be big in reality idk if i’m making english
I dont post half of the comments and posts I write. It's so important to, right before hitting send, ask yourself a few questions: "Do I want this on the internet forever?" "Does anyone actually benefit from me posting this?" "Do I want to share these thoughts, do I want people to know this about me?" "What if I didn't post this. What would change?"
@@brendathevehicon I do that sort of thing as well. Before I hit "send", I'll ask myself "Is this comment actually helping the situation?" If not, I usually realize it's actually "a me thing" -- that I'm just cranky or venting -- and I don't post. Cheers!
The Sims Reddit forums are/were a PRIME example of people being harassed over their Alpha CC. I was SHOCKED to see the way people go in on others who use it. I use a mixture of both but goodness! Use what you want! And it ABSOLUTELY is a racism problem, you're right! . My friend and I tested this out when she posted her (white) sim with Alpha CC and I posted my black sim. People complimented her sim while I got comments like, "Why does it look like that?" or "her lips are way too big for her face, no one looks like that etc." It's ridiculous. Thank you so much for bringing that point up because no one ever wants to talk about that aspect, and I think it's super important. There's a reason that black/brown simmers had to carve out their own spaces because the responses were getting ridiculous.
"play another game" They CAN'T. Why?? BECAUSE SIMS DOMINATES THE LIFE SIM GAME MARKET. There ARE no other options if you want a life sim game! LifeByYou was cancelled. There's no other alternative!
@@Helios26-kp1ne I mean, but not right now, or for the 10 years it's been around. But yeah, it does seem like there are a lot more life sims are coming onto the market.
@@Helios26-kp1ne also, people who use Alpha cc generally like realistic style, right? Well, Paralvies offer even more cartoonish style that Sims 4 😅 so I doubt they would enjoy it. I know I probably wouldn't, for what I see, I'm not into that much cartoonish style game. Sims looks more realistic in my opinion.
It’s pretty crazy how the tables turned with alpha vs. maxis. I remember when RUclipsrs got hate for using “clay hair” and since 2020 now everyone hates alpha
I've seen people who deliberately mix Alpha CC and Maxis Match CC with intent to see how others react to it, and *those* people are the ones who scare me.
That'd be me if I played 4 instead of just sticking with 2. I've always mixed CC styles in my game, be it in language, fantasy vs realism, "cartoony" vs "realistic," grungy vs clean. Real life is a hodgepodge without any concrete "theme," so why not play that way, and make my game look how I want, where I want.
I mix both and I don’t do that to provoke anyone…. I don’t even share my creations. But I can imagine some people doing that to the extreme just to provoke haters lol
I mix them, but not for reactions. I just have a lot of cc and I use whatever I wanna use. If I make a sim with realistic skin and use a maxis match hair or a sim with minimal/maxis match details and alpha hair, I’m the only one who has to like it
The point of Sims 4 is to create the stories you, the player, want, so if using Maxis Match or Alpha CC or no CC helps the player achieve this, then why should anyone else care?! We should not tear other people down and make them feel bad for something that makes them happy and doesn't hurt anyone else. We should support each other and be kind.
11:36 That's why I use both. Vanilla S4 is trash at doing afro-textured hair styles, and the variety is very little. I've found some afro-style hairs on MM, but I've found the most from ACC.
as someone who's in the modding community for FFXIV hearing "this isn't Second Life, this isn't IMVU" just sent me into a whiplash. I'm all for people expressing themselves in their video games! I love seeing what people create...even if it can be questionable at times, they're still expressing themselves through their character(s) (or plots in sims case as well) :>
I tend to be neutral on Alpha CC vs Maxis Match. I prefer Maxis match, but that's me. I likes my mods to look at home in the world. That said, there is a line in the sand I have with alpha cc, and that is when they make toddlers and children look like adult beauty queens. And yes, i have seen it. It gives me the ick. I keep my mouth shut, but I mentally judge them. Outside of that one specific point, I don't care for the most part what other people do in their games. Alpha cc for black sims? I *get it*. It's really hard to reimagine hairstyles that properly show your hair texture in that classic cartoony Maxis style. Honestly, I think that is great.
I really wish more Alpha CC made toddlers...look like toddlers. Kids are having this issue now too and it's disgusting. They're kids they should look and dress like kids, if you want to have a family where that's a plot point that's one thing but don't tell me EVERY single one of them should look like that...that's giving p bear vibes and makes me hate it even more.
and the toddlers thing!! its crazy!!! i work with kids, and kids are in no way “beautiful”. some can be more or less matured facially but theres no reason to make them look like models, it always creeps me out
Its kind of the same for vanilla builders on the whole base game build vs packs build. it gets annoying when people on the gallery point out the amount of packs you use in a build. God forbid I use the build/buy mode of things I bought.
I hope that we as a society can adopt fakegamergirl's message here: stop hating on what others like (as long as it's not hurtful to anyone else), and grow the f up
I'm just happy Custom Content exists in the first place, because the modding community has been keeping the Sims 4 going for 10 years now. If you watch videos from 2014 you'd be shocked how bone dry the game was.
I'm sorting CC in S4S as I watch your videos in the mini player, and you're SO right about the racism thing. A lot of CC that represents other cultures is going to be alpha, especially black culture, because a lot of it just... doesn't translate into MM and it doesn't look right. This can be evidenced by the black EA hairstyles that a lot of people have criticised for looking off. I've used semirealistic CC for two decades (as we call alpha CC in the TS2 community) and it's crazy how much hate it gets from newer players. Meanwhile in TS3... it's all you get. In TS2, there's both, but it was honestly mostly semirealistic until the 2010s. The MM crowd took over and keeps hating on the CC that's BEEN around and that's from established creators. I create stuff for TS2 (I'm 2FingersWhiskey!), and feel really pressured to make MM versions of a lot of my content because I knew that a lot of players would absolutely snub their noses at it otherwise. I've shown my stuff to huge servers only to be blasted for having it in a style "nobody uses anymore." It feels bad to know that the playstyle I've been using for longer than most players have been alive is suddenly "ugly" to a lot of people because Maxis pushed their style over into outright cartoonishness... not the other way around. TS2 and TS3 looked very realistic and used a lot of photoskinned textures - for example, a lot of TS2 cars have it, as well as rabbitholes in TS3. I love me some good Maxis Match in TS4, but also, I play a game set in a time period where most of the CC I've found is simply going to be alpha. The vitriol is even scarier when you notice the difference in response to an absolutely gorgeous, realistic build that took hours, to a house that is Maxis Match and took easily 1/4 of the effort. Alpha CC is really tricky to work with and make look good but a lot of (majority white) simmers just refuse to interact with posts about it. This is really strange to me. I appreciate the efforts of everything and all the different aesthetics the game has to offer, and how unique each person tailors their game to be. I've seen a LOT more innovation in the alpha side lately and it's sad to think that they get none of the attention compared to something that "looks correct" to others.
So good to see someone from TS2 modding era. People really got on their way to harass creators that have been in the sims modding community longer than them. And you're right about everything, up until TS4, everything was Alpha CC, some may argue that TS2 looks cartoonish, but many of the textures are a bit realistic, it's just the modelling of the models that were a bit cartoon looking due to the limitations. And also the reason TS3 is so heavy, is mostly because of the realistic textures, they are really heavy, specially considering that TS3 wasn't so optimized like TS4 was, and also the cartoonish looking of TS4 helped make the game run even on some weak laptops
The only big problem I have with alpha cc is the normalised sexualisation of kids or toddlers in the game or making them look 20 years old at the fresh age of 3
If the aim is to do that, that's wild.. but I noticed with Alpha CC that just applying a realistic hairstyle to a toddler for example sometimes does make them look like a child instead of a toddler, sometimes same for applying one to a child and making them look like a teen (I tend to play the game with teens-adults and rarely with infants-children so I could be misremembering).
How does it do that? It just makes the hair for example look more realistic? So the only way this would be possible is if you put specific items on your sim toddler that would sexualize it. But you can do that with mm too. At the end of the day as a cc user alpha or mm you still choose what kind of items you use for your si.
That is a really specific weird generalization that does not have to be true in any way shape or form. There is many alpha CC creators and users that do not do that and to subscribe that to a whole group is super to the left and if you were going to be that wild you would have to say the same thing about maxis match Because there’s also that problem it just looks more maxis
@@MsInterestedParty did I say it was a generalisation? No. I just said it was more normalised. Every time I look at alpha cc I see a toddler in a crop top and with a full face of makeup. Can’t say I’ve ever had that with MM, personally.
Tea sis. Because the aesthetic mismatch isn't my favorite either but most of the curly hairs I find are from Black creators like Ebonix and also alpha. Plus mermaid stuff lol
QICC has a nice afro collection. generally I'm sorting through my entire modfolder right now, if you need diverse maxis match cc recommendations, hmu, i have quite a lot imho
Totally agree about the negative commenting thing, like that just seems like so much energy lol. I do find a lot of Alpha super unsettling to look at, especially because there's an over all trend in the Sims in general (which is a reflection of real life expectations) that "pretty" sims tend to fit a really specific, like...look? There are exceptions of course, but most of them tend to look EXTREMELY made up, EXTREMELY skinny with "perfect" hourglass proportions, "perfect" full lips, ect ect. That's kind of a problem in general, but when it's "Maxis style", my brain kind of goes, okay, this is a cartoon, it's a barbie doll, this isn't SUPPOSED to be what a real life woman looks like. With Alpha cc...idk, it's harder for me to disconnect that, and honestly, I can find some of it sort of triggering for my body image issues and insecurities about my features in general. But again, that is *my issue*, and it's my job to filter that and to do the work to not engage too much with it, to scroll past, to close the window, yadda yadda. It's not fair to take out the problems I have with these wider societal beauty standards out on a random simmer, any more than it would be to blame a person for getting cosmetic surgery when they are just trying to exist in the world that has put those same pressures and expectations on them as I feel. There's never any excuse for harassment, full stop. Anyway, interesting video, sorry for the long comment lol.
I'm mostly MM. I don't hate Alpha, but it feels out of place in the game. And I would never tell anyone their Sim is ugly. We all play the game differently. And everyone's taste is unique.
I'm so fucking glad I was never actively part of any online community for any of my special interests because my disinterest in human connection outweighs my need to share my hyperfixations/special interests. This sounds so miserable to be a part of. It's so weird how humans seem to have an almost innate drive to infight.
I’m both alpha cc and maxis cc lover and user, more often than not I mix the two together in the same game and in the same sim, and it looks very cool. 😎
I feel the same way you do about the choices of cc use as kits. So many people hate on kits and refuse to buy them , and I find that their content adds in subtle ways to my game. Especially with clutter. People will download whole "player inspired" kits and packs, even pay via patreon to their favorite cc/mod creators whatever they ask but then refuse to pay $5 for a kit that you don't hafta worry about breaking with every update. But I'm not hating on those who refuse to get them. I just think it's not as fun, and that you have less options with gallery downloads. By the same token, use maxis match with alpha cc, but I'll also just go vanilla with some of my creations. I guess my point is: why are you limiting yourself?
I just feel like it’s disrespectful to shit on something somebody made when they weren’t asking for your opinion and just wanted to show what they made
i dont get why people r so pretentious over what type of cc they use. my perfect combo of cc types is mostly maxis match for the hair, anything for the clothes, and mostly alpha for the eyes, tattoos, and other skin details. alpha cc is pretty but i just dont want my game to look too realistic. the Alpha cc eyes and tattoos tho... i just love them so much. (tangent) i need to go over all the cc eyes i have tho cause something is replacing the defaults and its p¡ssing me off cause the babies only have really strange eyes and the aliens only have the base game brown eyes.
I remember some (fan-made) stuff back in Sims 1 that was photorealistic and people were, well, people about it. Like a toy castle image over the dollhouse.
Oh my god, I literally paused the video to mention Skyrim to myself on changing how it looks with mods and as SOON as I unpaused it you said Skyrim! 😂 I LOVE when this type of thing happens! But it's so true! No one, literally, no one cares about people modding Skyrim to look like a completely different game/genre. But Will Wright forbid you change how The Sims looks! 🤦♂ Side note, honestly, Alpha CC reminds me a lot of Sims 3. So it's not even THAT different from Maxis in the past. And I also use both.
im a maxis match type of person, I don't typically use alpha cc because they tend to be the ones that end up glitching out on my sims more. The ones that work well in my game and ill use them periodically.
I'm shocked to hear this because all the hate I've ever seen personally is towards maxis match. Calling them stiff and clay like. Really shows how much it doesn't matter lol.
Same. I've seen plenty of Alpha CC-fans insult Maxis-match fans. Personally I'm not a fan of the Alpha aesthetic, I wouldn't say it's realistic-looking at all. But I just don't put it in my game and if I see that kind of content I ignore it.
I used to use alpha but that was early days. The CAS got better and I wanted a more Maxis match look. So I discovered Clumsy Alien and I only have a few clothes that are alpha now. Sims 2 cc was necessary because the default stuff was just like a sharpie in the makeup section. It had moving hair animation too.
I really don’t care if people aestetically mod their game. I just like Maxis Match because I like the game to match without needing a whole makeover of the game. Its more like, I want my kid to have a backwards hat and there are none in game, so I get one via mods (CC). I Mod my game but also its rarely CC clothing anyway. For me its about the gameplay mods 😊 But what will make me angry is when I love a peice of CC and it has English instead of simlish. But only because I wish I was talented enough to remake it for myself in Simlish.
my holdover hatred of alpha cc is definitely from when people tried to charge for their mods (in TS2 and TS3 eras), and wasn't it just last year people were still charging for alpha cc? or putting trackers in the files to stop people "pirating" their mods. I just don't see this with maxis max mods.
I like both to be honest and have both in my game. When sims 4 first came out there was a lot more Alpha ccs that looked fantastic and then slowly the maxis match caught up and so yeah, I have both in my game lol
I mix them, I prefer more maxis looks for hair and clothes (alpha for textured hairs though they tend to look better) and a wide mix of alpha and maxis for skin details, I like some redness and pores it makes sims feel a little more natural.
I'm a firm believer in the razor's edge camp ( cc that's neither true maxis match or completely alpha cc). It gives you the benefit of blending into the game without needing to rebuild every lot in the game and giving every townie a complete makeover while adding in decent afro textures, and actually usable shoes necklaces and and more than like two or three options for eyeglasses.
I've definitely seen a few alpha cc users going after maxis match users but it's not even an issue, just a tiny percent. Maxis match users on the other hand can be so nasty to alpha users, but I feel the sims community would burn each other at the stake for far less. I don't like using alpha cc personally, and I question some people turning their infants into nightmares, but alpha cc can be so pretty I really don't see why it's such an issue.
r/TheSims and r/Sims4 are so fucking annoying when it comes to this. What really pisses me off is when the comments on a showing off an alpha sim post are like “I usually don’t like alpha cc because maxis match cc fits in better with the game, but she’s pretty!” Then people basically echo back the same opinions in the replies. Like, NO ONE FUCKING ASKED, and it’s not a hot take. That’s like the fucking reason it’s called maxis MATCH.
I prefer maxis match, but all of the super colorful rainbow hair is alpha cc! So I basically use both. Drives me nuts that people have any drive to just... attack others for something as simple as an preference.
As a Maxis Match person, I love the alpha cc users because they have such pretty sims. It's their game, we shouldn't be fighting about what's better; it's our game, we should be happy about what we are doing not what others are doing in their game.
This build is so gorgeous and omg yes your points are so good! When will people learn basic manners! If you don't have anyhting nice to say then don't say anything especially if it's something that will not affect anyone negatively, it's just a game, that's just someone else's preference, harassment is not the answer to whatever complex emotional unpacking you need to deal with!
I dislike all cc equally, that's how superior I am. jk. in all seriousness though, people who harass others for how they play sims (or how their sims look) probably also harass people for their coffee orders. They never learned to just mind their own damn business.
But to be honest I only ever hear MM players complaining about alpha CC. Alpha players don’t give a shit if someone uses MM and we don’t hate on it. It’s always MM players having a superiority complex 💀
I'm always so impressed with alpha cc, I'd never use it because I like the art style of the sims 4, but it's so pretty when other people use it. I'm specifically thinking of clare siobhan's Sims, but it applies to most alpha sims I see. Also, this build is awesome, I love it!
Maxis Match Vs Alpha CC is like such a chronically online debate, like who tf cares. HOWEVER, Most of the black simmers I follow often use Alpha CC. Which is mighty suspicious of the community.
I’m Asian, but I still use alpa cc for adults because I just like my sims to look hot in my own world. However, I’ll still use Maxis Match cc and mix for some sims and underaged sims since I find alpha cc kids creepy af
I’m glad that you pointed out the racism involved in the alpha cc debate. Black sims get a lot of hate comments, but there’s also a disproportionate amount of hate directed towards black simmers who use alpha cc.
yeahh, my main issue with alpha is that it doesnt match with literally anything i PAID for, ESP in cas, so i dont use it! i adore maxis match cus of the same reason lol
When I played sims 4, I mainly used maxis match, not that I didn’t like alpha, just wasn’t my style of fashion. The only bit of alpha I’m not keen on myself is the ones that makes the toddlers look like grown ups. Like full blown false lashes, glamour outfits and all that. But again, that’s just a style choice, we ignore it if we’re not interested. However, like you said, a lot of alpha cc is either played or made by black simmers to make sims that reflect their peesonal tastes and aethetics and it always felt a bit weird that they get so much hate for making or playing with alpha. Like let people play how they want to play. Plus the amount of times, I’ve downloaded a maxis match cc thinking it’d look nice only to have it look completely different in game because they’ve used so many shaders and filters on their example images is unreal.
Maxis match is my go to except for eyelashes and I wouldn't be suprised if some of the tattoos in the game are technically alpha. Also I feel like the alpha cc I see tends to have some representation the game itself lacks.
I don’t use CC anymore but I’ve had both Maxis Match and Alpha phases, even a point in time where both existed in my game at once, but literally idc what anyone else wants to use in THEIR game as long as it’s not any illegal behavior towards children or animals. A *lot* of the anti-alpha crowd is really just veiled racism because it’s harassment usually towards a black creator or black sims. Light skinned people/sims don’t get the same level of hate, some but definitely not the same. If you don’t like something, literally just scroll away from it, you do your thing and let people do theirs too. I hate people on the internet sometimes
I had no idea people were fighting over this :0 it's such a dumb thing to fight over (like 90% of online debate tbh) I mix maxis match and alpha cc on my sims, it doesn't even faze me, i can tell it looks different but it doesn't bother me at all so i'm glad i never share anything on the gallery i feel like people on both sides would want to kill me x)
i personally am into the strict kind of maxis match, cause i rlly love the sims' clay-ish aesthetic and like having it yknow match the rest of the game! but harassing someone cause of a videogame is just stupid
The alpha hate has been leading to a problem in the MM community where I feel like modders are so afraid to make things that are alpha because of backlash that they've started getting really loosey-goosey with their definition of "maxis match". I've seen a lot of CC lately claiming to be MM that don't match at all in game and should probably have been called alpha. We gotta stop being terrible to people online for stupid reasons like how they prefer to mod their game so that things get labeled properly so that we can all enjoy our game the way we want to. Edit: THANK YOU for pointing out the racism thing
I’ve been very into user created content since Sims 1, and this is such a Sims 4 debate. Personally, I can’t fathom getting so married to a single visual style that I forget that mix and match with multiple styles looks way cooler and more interesting than any one could ever, at least in my opinion.
I think some of the people that don't like alpha CC are those people who saw a cute or pretty sim and downloaded the sim only for the sim to look nothing like they're supposed to because they didn't have all the CC for the sim, and then they get frustrated cause they have to search for the 30 to 60 CC items to make the sim look right. Personally I'll get some alpha CC if it looks nice, but I usually go more towards Maxis Match, one item that is good for both types of people is the CC 3d eyelashes, they look a lot better than the ones EA tried to give us and they look good on both Alpha CC sims and regular maxis match sims.
I use maxis match hair but alpha skins and sometimes alpha clothes. This entire MM vs Alpha thing is really dumb since everyone has their own way of playing the game.
I mostly use MM cc but I also use some Alpha CC as long as it's not hyper-reallistic. Personal preference, cause of it not blending in with the rest of the game. No, I don't like total Alpha CC, just like I don't like the....(I forget wtf they're called?) The lighting mods and stuff that give Sims that cool dreamy look but then they've got that crazy-ass super dark outline around them almost from the shadows. But I'd never harass anyone for using it. That's childish. Let people do wtf ever they wanna effing do. It's not hurting me one bit.
I prefer maxis match because I like when a game has consistent artstyle, but I have nothing but admiration and awe for alpha cc users. I've seen some GORGEOUS sims that I have to pause on and process because WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN THIS ISN'T A PROFESSIONALLY DONE REALL LIFE PHOTO?! It's pure witchcraft
maxis match is relatively new because sims2 and 3 both had a specific look to them that most didn't like, so cc was meant to replace their base designs. sims2 had very limited facial features and s3 clothes were all polly pocket chewable. it makes sense that maxis match is playing homage to the sims4 base designs, i think bc s4 far widely accepted as the more stylish and modern in comparison to s3. so in that sense, alpha match is strange looking bc it feels dated due to its association with the older games. i think also a lot of younger ppl like the minimal/clean look of s4 and aren't use to the way alpha cc sits? even with mods being updated to look the best they can, alpha cc cannot be minimal and maxis match cannot be detailed. they both have their pros and cons, i use both bc some aesthetics are exclusive to one modder
i loved alpha when i was younger but when i realised how much effort i have to put in the game to make EVERYTHING match the style i switched to maxis match and fell in love with it lol anyway play your game the way you want it, thats why the sims is a sandbox game. its your choice.
I'm a maxis match girlie and don't like alpha, however I've never harassed someone for alpha cc because it ain't my game and people deserve to be happy. Let's leave each other's picnics alone, yeah? HOWEVER I will say the yassification of toddlers with alpha cc I've seen a handful of users do makes me feel uncomfy and I will die on this hill.
I raise you: we fix this by stuffing the fighters into a room and force them to play modded minecraft Minecraft is THE game where the fanbase actively runs away from the Vanilla experience as much as possible. Have you SEEN the shader mods? The mod packs? THE OVERHAUL OF THE ENTIRE VANILLA TEXTURES? Its insane
i think my biggest problem with alfa cc is that often the sim kinda looks like a kardashian but that stands true for a lot of sims on the gallery and i also dont care, your sim your game
My main problem with some of the CC out there is that it either has too high of a triangle count, or the textures are so flat that it breaks the low-poly-but-high-quality illusion.
I like mostly alpha clothes with some maxis match mixed in, mostly maxis match makeup and skin details with some alpha mixed in, and hair is a legit 50/50. Don't ask pansexuals to choose its homophobic
i mix and match alpha and maxis match , except for the hair because i (personally) dislike how the basegame/maxis style hair looks (its too solid/clay-like for my liking) , so i stick with alpha hair but everything else in my game is mixed , i don’t mind other people using the maxis styled hairs ; i just dislike it on my sims in my game , i don’t see the big deal between what type you use
I'm a maxis match person, but the idea of harassing someone for using alpha cc is wild to me. If someone wants to do alpha cc, that's fine! It's their game, it's their Sim, they can do what they want. Why would you harass someone for that?

She had an Alpha CC face
But her head was up in space
She needed to come back down to earth...

I use both. Whatever looks cute or matches my character's aesthetic, I'll download it. Also, don't forget to download the meshes y'all.
Same! Oh man, the amount of time I don't see mesh and it messes up my sims, HAHA. Thank you for the reminder.
What is mesh
I see meshes and I clock out I cannot lol
Same, i like both ^_^ depending what it is :3
@@Berutoruto_aot iicr when someone makes a recolor of someone else’s custom content, they usually link the mesh, which is the original custom content
alpha cc is soooooooo gorgeous and the only, ONLY reason I don’t use it myself is that I want everything to match style-wise so I would need to download so much cc that my laptop would explode lmao.
Sometimes, often Maxi Match ccs are even better looking than the maxi match from the original game lol
@@rabidpinkbunny8915i guess cuz sometimes it is hurting them, but not others. so for many something may seem harmless- when to others it’s damaging in some way. while i agree there are many times we should keep our mouths shut and mind our business (maybe this is one for me) we need people to speak up too.
ofc, with the exact context of the video it’s much less srs but a lot of things that seem trivial and small can be big in reality

Cheers!
Im a maxis mixer and I feel like a divorced child hearing one parent talk down on the other when this debate comes up 😭
Woo! I’m in the same boat.
Stooooop, this just got to real 😭🤣

heard fgg say “prawn addiction” and was legitimately confused about how people get addicted to prawns before i realised 💀
Oh.
I got it now...
lol
Literally same. My first thought was like hmm maybe they buy a crazy amount of shrimp chips? I guess that could count as an addiction...? Oh wait
Do I use mods, no. Do I care about this topic, also no. Did I watch this entire video and loved not only the build but the discussion, yes. Yes I did.
They do this to maxis match black sims too. Someone posted a black girl group and most of the comments were bashing black features as plastic.
@@andpeg for real? 🤦 these people are so transparent!
"play another game"
They CAN'T. Why?? BECAUSE SIMS DOMINATES THE LIFE SIM GAME MARKET. There ARE no other options if you want a life sim game! LifeByYou was cancelled. There's no other alternative!
There's Inzoi and Paralives. Inzoi is at its early access phase for content creators, it looks really good so far. There are other options.
@@Helios26-kp1ne I mean, but not right now, or for the 10 years it's been around. But yeah, it does seem like there are a lot more life sims are coming onto the market.
Wait,really, they got cancelled?🥲whyyyy
@@Helios26-kp1neparalives isn't even out yet, and it won't be for who knows long
@@Helios26-kp1ne also, people who use Alpha cc generally like realistic style, right?
@@AnInsideJokeI never thought about it that way, i've always played like the original commenter. You've given me a whole new perspective, tysm
I do this lol. I like the look of maxis match hair and clothing but I prefer alpha cc for skin details, eyes, accessories etc. so I mix them
I mix them, but not for reactions.
Alpha CC afro textured hair looks so good
Me who has alpha cc and maxis match in my game...
We have the best of both worlds
Tbh I think the Sims community has a problem with being horrified by sims anything less than supermodel hot in general
as someone who's in the modding community for FFXIV hearing "this isn't Second Life, this isn't IMVU" just sent me into a whiplash. I'm all for people expressing themselves in their video games! I love seeing what people create...even if it can be questionable at times, they're still expressing themselves through their character(s) (or plots in sims case as well) :>
I was thinking the same, this Alpha CC vs Maxis Match / Vanilla FFXIV vs "Modbeast" discourse is just weird, let people do what they want!
Society is so rotten that we are now harassing someone for the design of a pixel
They're kids they should look and dress like kids, if you want to have a family where that's a plot point that's one thing but don't tell me EVERY single one of them should look like that...that's giving p bear vibes and makes me hate it even more.
i have found great maxis match cc for black sims, but most of it borders alpha just because theyre complex. sucks :(
and the toddlers thing!! its crazy!!! i work with kids, and kids are in no way “beautiful”. some can be more or less matured facially but theres no reason to make them look like models, it always creeps me out
Its kind of the same for vanilla builders on the whole base game build vs packs build. it gets annoying when people on the gallery point out the amount of packs you use in a build. God forbid I use the build/buy mode of things I bought.
I hope that we as a society can adopt fakegamergirl's message here: stop hating on what others like (as long as it's not hurtful to anyone else), and grow the f up
Speedbuild saturday is evolved into video esays
I'm just happy Custom Content exists in the first place, because the modding community has been keeping the Sims 4 going for 10 years now.
If you watch videos from 2014 you'd be shocked how bone dry the game was.
This!!!! 🙏🏻 we didn't even have TODDLERS back in 2016😭
I'm sorting CC in S4S as I watch your videos in the mini player, and you're SO right about the racism thing.
I've shown my stuff to huge servers only to be blasted for having it in a style "nobody uses anymore."
It feels bad to know that the playstyle I've been using for longer than most players have been alive is suddenly "ugly" to a lot of people because Maxis pushed their style over into outright cartoonishness... not the other way around.
The only big problem I have with alpha cc is the normalised sexualisation of kids or toddlers in the game or making them look 20 years old at the fresh age of 3
Yea ! True ! It’s a thing I don’t understand … same for the normalised over sexualisation in general
QICC has a nice afro collection. generally I'm sorting through my entire modfolder right now, if you need diverse maxis match cc recommendations, hmu, i have quite a lot imho
oh from the top of my head: goamazons also has a few cute afro textured looks, theyre just more annyoing to look up and download (TSR)
Was this the first time fakegamergirl wasn't cut off at the end of the voiceover??? HISTORICAL MOMENT
Couldn't click until I grabbed some cereal. SBS is my new Saturday morning cartoons.
Frr😂❤
I guess my point is: why are you limiting yourself?
imagine the happiness and fulfillment that is being a fan of a game without interacting with their community
I lowkey use both because some of my sims just look better with one than the other. But overall, they're both very pretty!
I just feel like it’s disrespectful to shit on something somebody made when they weren’t asking for your opinion and just wanted to show what they made
2:00 Except some modders lock their mods behind Patreon.
i dont get why people r so pretentious over what type of cc they use.
my perfect combo of cc types is mostly maxis match for the hair, anything for the clothes, and mostly alpha for the eyes, tattoos, and other skin details. alpha cc is pretty but i just dont want my game to look too realistic. the Alpha cc eyes and tattoos tho... i just love them so much.
(tangent)
i need to go over all the cc eyes i have tho cause something is replacing the defaults and its p¡ssing me off cause the babies only have really strange eyes and the aliens only have the base game brown eyes.
Maxis can't even match. There are so many in game assets i don't use just because they don't work with the aesthetic they established
This. They need to go back and re-texture their earlier content so it actually matches. But it's EA, they won't.
Ooohhh, so /that's/ why some rando called my sim's hair ugly in my old sims 2 video over a decade ago...Crazy shit.
I LOVE when this type of thing happens!
But it's so true! No one, literally, no one cares about people modding Skyrim to look like a completely different game/genre. But Will Wright forbid you change how The Sims looks! 🤦♂
Side note, honestly, Alpha CC reminds me a lot of Sims 3. So it's not even THAT different from Maxis in the past.
And I also use both.
For some reason I thought it was Sunday😭
im a maxis match type of person, I don't typically use alpha cc because they tend to be the ones that end up glitching out on my sims more. The ones that work well in my game and ill use them periodically.
I love both. i always used both. I do see simmers saying alpha cc is ugly and bash alpha cc users, then maxis match users. They both are gorgeous cc.
Just to talk about the build for a second, I genuinely didn't think it would turn out that cute. It's so adorable 😂😂
Speaking of the "WW Incident", there are still animations for questionable actions with animals online. :|
WHAT????
I really don’t care if people aestetically mod their game. I just like Maxis Match because I like the game to match without needing a whole makeover of the game. Its more like, I want my kid to have a backwards hat and there are none in game, so I get one via mods (CC).
I Mod my game but also its rarely CC clothing anyway. For me its about the gameplay mods 😊
But what will make me angry is when I love a peice of CC and it has English instead of simlish. But only because I wish I was talented enough to remake it for myself in Simlish.
I prefer maxis match cause in my personal experience it's easier to use and is less often broken, also i think it looks better
my holdover hatred of alpha cc is definitely from when people tried to charge for their mods (in TS2 and TS3 eras), and wasn't it just last year people were still charging for alpha cc? or putting trackers in the files to stop people "pirating" their mods. I just don't see this with maxis max mods.
I like both to be honest and have both in my game. When sims 4 first came out there was a lot more Alpha ccs that looked fantastic and then slowly the maxis match caught up and so yeah, I have both in my game lol
Alao imagine getting mad at someone playing with their own dollhouses lmao
I mix them, I prefer more maxis looks for hair and clothes (alpha for textured hairs though they tend to look better) and a wide mix of alpha and maxis for skin details, I like some redness and pores it makes sims feel a little more natural.
I use both 😂 if it looks good and it's available, I'll use it 🤷🏾♀️
I'm a firm believer in the razor's edge camp ( cc that's neither true maxis match or completely alpha cc).
Me who didn’t know there were mods until I clicked on this video: Oh cool!
exactly!!! gotta wait for inzoi to see the light of day by 2025
I prefer maxis match, but all of the super colorful rainbow hair is alpha cc!
I create Sims for others, and I’ve noticed that most of my clients prefer a blend of both Maxis Match and Alpha custom content styles.
Alpha CC just clashes with the game's style and looks uncanny to me, mostly in sims. But in build/buy, Alpha doesn't bother me much.
Yes, if I'm using alpha, I'd rather it be in b/b
yeahh, my main issue with alpha is that it doesnt match with literally anything i PAID for, ESP in cas, so i dont use it! i adore maxis match cus of the same reason lol
The masses learning about "uncanny valley" was a curse. Anything remotely realistic in style gets called uncanny valley
3:07 alright yes ma’am i am sat
I had no idea people were fighting over this :0 it's such a dumb thing to fight over (like 90% of online debate tbh) I mix maxis match and alpha cc on my sims, it doesn't even faze me, i can tell it looks different but it doesn't bother me at all so i'm glad i never share anything on the gallery i feel like people on both sides would want to kill me x)
12:18 This is a nice build. Which pack is the outer wall from?
lovestruck!
@@crystalcaste Really? Ohhh, yeah. I forgot Lovestruck is a latin theme.... That's so on the nose. I think I genuinely hate EA now.
i personally am into the strict kind of maxis match, cause i rlly love the sims' clay-ish aesthetic and like having it yknow match the rest of the game! but harassing someone cause of a videogame is just stupid
I was very meh about the topic then you made an amazing point worthy of an award!
Ah yes. Skyrim. Such a wonderful point.
I use both-😅
I mostly use MM cc but I also use some Alpha CC as long as it's not hyper-reallistic.
It's pure witchcraft
maxis match is relatively new because sims2 and 3 both had a specific look to them that most didn't like, so cc was meant to replace their base designs. sims2 had very limited facial features and s3 clothes were all polly pocket chewable. it makes sense that maxis match is playing homage to the sims4 base designs, i think bc s4 far widely accepted as the more stylish and modern in comparison to s3. so in that sense, alpha match is strange looking bc it feels dated due to its association with the older games.
i think also a lot of younger ppl like the minimal/clean look of s4 and aren't use to the way alpha cc sits? even with mods being updated to look the best they can, alpha cc cannot be minimal and maxis match cannot be detailed. they both have their pros and cons, i use both bc some aesthetics are exclusive to one modder
i loved alpha when i was younger but when i realised how much effort i have to put in the game to make EVERYTHING match the style i switched to maxis match and fell in love with it lol
anyway play your game the way you want it, thats why the sims is a sandbox game. its your choice.
I raise you: we fix this by stuffing the fighters into a room and force them to play modded minecraft
Minecraft is THE game where the fanbase actively runs away from the Vanilla experience as much as possible. Have you SEEN the shader mods? The mod packs? THE OVERHAUL OF THE ENTIRE VANILLA TEXTURES? Its insane
I personally like to mix the two 😈… alpha by its self sometimes gives me uncanny valley it makes my brain feel like they are watching me back.
great video 👍 wish I had more to say but I got excited about skyrim mention and lost my train of thought
i think my biggest problem with alfa cc is that often the sim kinda looks like a kardashian but that stands true for a lot of sims on the gallery and i also dont care, your sim your game
Let's just change how the default replacements that don't flag as cc. The sims in the gallery look nothing like their portrait 😭
My main problem with some of the CC out there is that it either has too high of a triangle count, or the textures are so flat that it breaks the low-poly-but-high-quality illusion.
happy to have an alpha save and a maxis match save. best of both worlds
I like mostly alpha clothes with some maxis match mixed in, mostly maxis match makeup and skin details with some alpha mixed in, and hair is a legit 50/50. Don't ask pansexuals to choose its homophobic
the house turned out so beautiful, i wanna play in it sm
i mix and match alpha and maxis match , except for the hair because i (personally) dislike how the basegame/maxis style hair looks (its too solid/clay-like for my liking) , so i stick with alpha hair but everything else in my game is mixed , i don’t mind other people using the maxis styled hairs ; i just dislike it on my sims in my game , i don’t see the big deal between what type you use
