Really digging the lightweight setup. This is something you could bring with you on a damn airplane and write a whole album before you reach your destination 😁
Great tutorial, I'm really enjoying it although I haven't completed it yet, but I'm on the right track (I have to learn a bit more about Loopy Pro and how to assign channels and stuff like that). I don't use the AKAI Mini Play Mk3 but the AKAI Mini Play (they are very similar), and instead of the Rode AI Micro I use an Apogee One sound card (older, a bit bigger, but still portable: 2 AAA batteries), and both devices communicate quit well. I loved the chords in your tune, and I totally agree that the native value of AKAI's internal sounds are pretty decent when we add effects from Loopy Pro. Again, excellent tutorial, and thank you very much for your work!
This is really inspiring! I got the keyboard for being able to quickly play out ideas, and it works. However - when I plug it into my iPad (through Behringer UCA-222 the sound is really low, despite the output from the Akai seems loud enough. Have you had something similar? I am just trying to figure out if it is the SW on my iPad (Koala Sampler), the audio interface (UCA-222) or a setting I have missed. Any input is appreciated. Love your coffee beats!!
Hi man! Appreciate your work! I am hearing pulsing white noise in ableton when i am conecting mpk3 through rode micro like you did in this video. I am wandering if it is problem of rode and i just need to have a better auido interface, or maybe there is something to do about it?
Hello. Thank you very much for this video. I just bought the MPK Mini Play mk3. Already have Loopy Pro installed in iPad. How can I use it with the usb cable to connect to Loopy Pro? It detect my device as the input but there’s no sound coming out. Really appreciate your input on this. Again, thank you for this video.
You need also some audio interface for iPad like Rode Ai Micro that I used in this video. Mini Play do not transmit audio over USB cable, only MIDI data.
@@coffebeats ahaaa… no wonder I can’t get the sound to come out. Hahaha. Thank you so much for your respond. Appreciate it a lot. I will do that. Really enjoyed your looping session. I will follow your tutorial video on the setup. Again, thank you so much my friend. Looking forward to your next video. Have a wonderful days ahead.
@@coffebeatshi again. I’ve just got myself the Rode Ai Micro and it works. Hahaha. Finally I can play it using Loopy Pro. Just out of curiosity, is there any instruments and settings that you like to use always for the akai mpk mini mk3 play for a lo-fi mix?

That is true but you have to be very creative 😉

Hey. Good to hear that. I am planning more tutorial about Loopy so stick with me 😉
| will, that for sure!
Why do you use the phone's effects? Wouldn't it be better to put reverb straight from the midi since that is available?
Does this work with a simple usb c to headphone jack cable?
Anyone know Android compatible adapter and app by any chance? It would be great to connect it to portable speaker
I don't have it yet but im guessing you should be able to connect it to a speaker via the headphones jack
Like a USB-C adapter ?
Do you have a link for the phone adapter please?
Great video. Do you recommend this setup with loppy pro / iphone over a guitar looping station for relatively simple jams with the akai mini play?
Yes. It could be good for guitar looping too. Rode Ai Micro has two audio ins. So you can connect guitar and AKAI simultaneously 😎
IM HAVING SOME TROUBLES WHEN I CONNECT THE JACK CABLE, PHONE STOPS RECOGNICING MIDI CONTROLER, WHAT CAN I DO?
Nice setup, but what is your experience when using a line level or instrument level ( like guitar) in the mic input? Does not saturate ?
When it comes to instruments with high gain you can always reduce gain in settings of rode audio interface
Thank you so much sir for this video! Is it possible to connect a microphone for live looping vocals witb this setup?
Hey, is this the way to only record the mpk? As in the built in sounds, not any external noise.
Hey. Yes, with Rode interface you are recording only Akai without external sounds
@@coffebeats okay thanks!
so for your other videos, did you edit the recording in some way or is it the original?
hey thanks. Do you know if there are any keyboard snths that looping is already on the keyboard?? like MUST you have an outside device to loop?
I guess that MPC key 37 will be the closest to such a device. Maybe I will try it 🧐
This is perfect, thank you my friend!
Please make a video on a simple setup that we can use to make and record whilst travelling on a plane or train etc. Can’t wait ❤

Akai has not the best sound and it is quite noisy but it has good level of sound. You must search problem in other devices
Hi, do you know if exists something like the Akai mini play but with a looper integrated?
There is AKAI MPC Key 37. I think it is closest to ideal looping device. I hadn’t have it in my hands yet
Excellent! I think my set up is smaller, but that's amazing!!!
Can you link to come of the cables used? My son wants to get into this but I am not an audio person. 😅
You will need Rode Ai Micro audio interface for sure. Additionally only mini jack cable will be needed.

Hello. Noise can coming from AKAI because is quite noisy instrument.
Excellent stuff, thank you!
Im sorry to ask but can I do that with a new iphone 12 ?
Awesome explanation, thanks dude :)
Thats great! I m having latency problems using akai as a drum pad! Any idea on how to solve?
You need to decrease buffer (ms) in your audio program I think.
maybe add some chapters for set up, tech talk and music sections?

Very cool - where does the sound go outside of the ai micro? can you just plug headphones in?
Yes. You can plug headphones to have direct monitoring or connect external speaker
AKAI-Love
Any reason to not just use you newer/currently active phone?
Recording this video
Only trying to show that old iPhone can handle Loopy Pro
They shoud HAVE GIVEN A LOOPING FEAT ON THE MIDI CONTROLLER ITSELF .... SAY BOUT 30 SEC thanks so much for this information 🥂🙌❤️🙏✌️🫶
I definitely agree with you
What black adapter do you use?
It is audio interface for iPhone. Rode Ai Micro
@@coffebeats Do you know if it works with android? Does this equipment come with the midi keyboard?
Yes. I think It will work with Android as it has other usb cables too. No, It not comes with AKAI it is separate product
Very nice! Any problems with delay?
No problem at all 😎
ARe you from poland/?
Tak
Will this work with MPK mini plus ?
Yes, for sure
Where do you load your instruments from?
Instruments are built in AKAI. This is version with build in sounds so that why has “play” in name
Cool
New things learned
Thank's a lot
Great video
Is loopy pro a paid application? Can it be used on macbook pro?
Yes it is paid but not very expensive. If you have M1 Mac I think you can run IOS apps
Do you know a similar app for android ?
The closest high quality app is koalas. But is not oriented to live looping. But you can still do it with the playback after recording option
Unfortunately I don’t know any
Had this keyboard, over a year. Sits in draw, never being able to figure out, how to use it.
Never too late ;)
Is loopy pro for android?
I don’t think so but you need to check it on Taesty Pixel web page
