the tattoo isn't there to make the OP feel bad it's there to show how much love a mum has for her children. cousin needs to stop, mum is trying so hard by keeping it covered.

Tattoo removal takes SEVERAL sessions, is very expensive, and is even more painful than getting the tattoo in the first place. It might be their dead name, but it is the name the mother loved enough to give her child. Since OP is the one that changed their name, are they willing to pay for the removal and aftercare? How about a little understanding for the mother? She's covering it when she needs to and OP needs to STFU! Love the pink popsicle!

A friend of mine whose sibling came out as trans described the experience from her perspective as being similar to morning someone who passed but yet they are still there. I don’t fully understand because I’ve never been through it but she said it’s like her brother died and someone who is similar to her brother replaced him. She basically mourned the loss of her brother while welcoming in a sister she didn’t know she had and it took her awhile to wrap her head around it all. She loves her sister but there are parts of her brother she misses and she still mourns those parts. She also said it was hard having to keep her mourning private because she didn’t want to hurt her sister’s feelings.
So maybe for the mom the tattoo is a bit like a memorial. Yes her child is still alive and well but it’s not the same and that tattoo is her way of honor her memories and love. That doesn’t take away from her love now but I think it’s disrespectful of what mom has gone through to expect her to cover it up and pretend the child she birthed and raised never existed. Maybe instead a compromise could be found with another tattoo that includes OPs new name. I don’t know but I do feel that what mom is going through is being treated as not important and it is. Overall I think it’s hard all around and people need to give grace not hate.

Agreed that OP is 10/10 AH. I have several tat’s with my kids names and they don’t care that they don’t got by those nicknames anymore. I am not saying OP doesn’t deserve his opinion but the mom is an ADULT and OP does not have the right to make demands. As far as the depression goes- it was Fkd Up to say “I don’t believe her- she’s lying” depression is a dark beast that attacks without warning. NEVER judge someone for it. 😮 😡

As a trans person op is 100% TA I get it names are huge for the trans community and imo in general as they’re connected to your entire identity but the mom is covering the tattoo, she’s doing everything she can be reasonably expected to do to make OP comfortable, and to be honest OP and OP’s cousin are incredibly unreasonable!
Same, that story made me a little bit sick once it got to the point where the mom started covering it up with clothes. She's doing her best! If it were my mom and my deadname, that would be good enough, especially considering the consequences of getting it removed/covered up with just black.
This lady's child needs to get over it and the dead name triggers u omg I would hate to see them in a real situation even if I changed my name I wouldn't be upset with the name my mother gave me
Okay so the issue here is that the OP is trying to control what his mom does with her body. I wouldn't mind if my dead name was on my mom because thats who i was. So yeah. He is an AH. He should have just been happy shes at leaat trying to meet him half way.

The mother literally got the tattoo before OP came out...... No matter how you look at it it is very ridiculous to expect somebody to change something on their body to make you feel comfortable... 😢
