Here Are The Lyrics:
I am not dead
I demand I know my rights
I know my rights
You cover illness with flowers
And flowers die
And flowers die
Walk in half view of all mirrors
It makes sense to me
It makes sense to me
Never let yourself out
I did it ruined me
It ruined me
To be morally good
Only rather to love
A devil pretending to be a god
Laws written on paper and paper burns
Eternity is not sunrise
Walk in half view of all mirrors
It makes sense to me
It makes sense to me
Never let yourself out
I did it ruined me
It ruined me
To be morally good
Only rather to love
A devil pretending to be a god
Laws written on paper and paper burns
Eternity is not a sunrise - Видеоклипы
I've always loved the way the album officially closes with William's Last Words, which reads like a suicide note, only for the hidden track to kick in with the words 'I am not dead'

James Dean Bradfield guitaring 100% blows me away every time
It's chilling, this song. I know Richie's lyrics throughout their career often detail the various troubles he had with many things, but this seems to me, to be the only set he wrote that sums up his entire dilemma into one final admission of bitter resignation. The darkest thing they ever wrote in my view
This is easily the highlight of the album for me. So Manic's like to put it out as a hidden track
the genius
I think this might just be my favourite Manics song of all time. It's a tough choice but there's something about this song. It's incredible.

@@WhiteSwan1997 Nicky did say in an interview a while back that some day soon people will get a shock when they actually look back at Manics lyrics and realize what they mean more than they originally thought when first released.
Its pretty mind blowing 🤯 when you do start reading back right from the beginning , New Art Riot ep etc
I only just realized tonight the viewpoint, shoes 👞 👞 that Richey/Nicky took the stance from for Crucifix Kiss.... 🤯🤯🤯
Just how did they know?? This was back in 1990 way before the Internet and mobile phones etc etc.
Mine too
@@Jonny_Redwhat do you mean?
@@polyestermammoth740 the state of the world and where it was leading to way in advance ...mindblowing when you realize. And it adds a new depth and perspective to MSP , a band of layers absolutely.👍
Love this. Nails that Holy Bible guitar tone. Proper scratchy and abrasive. Tension in the chords.
This could have been put onto the third album and would have fit perfectly
Yeah and song would've been much longer like most of the songs on that album were.
How it wasn't on the album I'll never know
It's the time and sound is the closests plague lovers gets to holy bible
discovered this whilst napping. The album played out then this out of this world played. Lovely!
I envy Richey everyday for not being able to express myself as brilliantly and easily as he seemed too.
This band have ment so much to me since 91, not onlky do i love thier music, when you read the lyrics and quotes on the album covers you then get interested in where they came from. The Manic Street Preachers taught me more thasn i ever learned in school,m if only school could have been dare i say sexy so learning was a buzz rather than a bore, sittin daydreaming, staring into space out the window, watching the time buy on the clock, the teacher droning on, the teacher from peanuts. MSP 4EVER
Dave G. Back again and still love this track. Please excuse my typo on original post😵
@@davegardiner1995 I fully agree with what you said. All of the quotes, the literature and poetry that Richey mentioned has introduced me to so many books, more than school ever teaches me. It’s this whole new world of knowledge. Plus Richey’s lyrics are some of the best I’ve ever heard. I’d honestly put him up there with some of my favourite poets like Rimbaud. The Manics are probably the most intelligent rock band out there.
For me I think this is actually the best song on the album, why didn't it make it onto the official tracklisting..?
Archives Of Pain part II
haha bout time Nicky learned to play the bass
Very close to being their best song.
too many to have a best.
Yeah I read that in an interview how they wanted symmetry and that's why they didn't include the song, but in my mind there are a couple of songs this could replace as I feel its much better than "Doors Closing Slowly". Definitely one of their best songs in years along with Pretension/Repulsion, All Is Vanity, Jackie Collins.., Peeled Apples, Journal For Plague Lovers, and She Bathed Herself In A Bath of Bleach. This album rocks
Probably the best song they have ever written JDB 🎸🎸🎸🏴🏴🏴
I think the Manics have felt pressure to create the next THB since EMG and have tried to recreate a new THB for some time. Along the way they have managed to make some brilliant stuff sporadically whatever people say and personally I think its all part of their journey. For me this track is the best they have done since THB since it encompasses the old and new in a way I did not think they could anymore. Great effects and lyrics. All the best for the ever changing Manics - Always facinating.
If they were at their prime in the Holy Bible era this song just shows they can just turn it on when they want. (Musically)
This should have made the album.
The last intelligent band left today. The Manics are just as important now as they were 20 years ago. This is what drives them on.
And TRUTH! Even more so now than ever. 🙏❣
at brighton dome 3 days ago they didn't play this song which peeved me off quite a bit coz i would have loved to have heard it live.
yeah this is my favourite as well, i love the bass in it
I AM NOT DEAD
Never let yourself out, I did, it ruined me.. jeez, hope he’s still with us.. I have a feeling he is..
Why did i only hear about this track now? Great surprise though.
yep, i mean if people have a problem with listening to albums pre-release then there is absolutely no point in them deciding to look up the very thing they don't want to see, and then find it necessary to lecture me about it. =) they are an awesome band i just wanted to share it with the world.
Too good to be just a hidden track.
Great song, but why isn't it on the deluxe 2 disc version of JFPL? I know it's hidden on the standard version of the album but it's nowhere on the 2 disc version.
The song explores the notion of transience / transients (hence the unusual title). Very clever and probably one of my favourite Manics songs.
Clever!
Este álbum lo conseguí hace una par de años y hace una semana descubrí está canción.
The Manic have got a vast array of hidden tracks and b-sides that are vastly superior to a lot of their album material, they need to sort out their song selection policy
Agreed
They also have a problem picking singles. Tolerate was nearly a b side!
But sometimes you just don’t know as an artist. I’m a songwriter, I don’t pretend to be in the same league as the Manics, but sometimes I’ll write a song I’m sure people will love and no one ever mentions it, then I’ll play something I consider shit and people love it.
It’s also worth mentioning that we all have different tastes. I’m sure you could name a Manics B side you’d love to see on an album which I’d disagree with, and vice versa.
In regards to Bag lady, I can definitely understand why they used it as a hidden track. Firstly it doesn’t quite fit musically with the rest of the album, it sounds more like it could fit into the holy bible. Secondly it works well in a poetic sense, as a mirror to William’s last words. You have this almost sentimental acoustic song, full of emotion and sensitivity, then silence, and then BANG! Bag lady comes it, says fuck you to sentiment, and we have Richey back in full fury.
That’s just how I see it anyway.
@@MattJames1958and Tolerates B side, prolgue to history, should have been its own single 😂
Thanks for uploading this :)
Simply Sublime
Respect Nicky, but the combo Richey-James/Sean is unsurpassable!
This song mind 1000% guitar JDB best in the world
ok, now we've established that its not on the special edition version, and that it sounds a bit like archives of pain, does anyone know what its about? cos I anit got a clue!
yeah the bass in this song is very reminiscent of archives of pain.
@Omnislash99999 There will never be another holy bible. I'm glad the mighty manics havnt tried to re-create it, it's perfect as is.
Awesome absolutely awesome
Liking this one best so far.
its on the Album as a hidden track after Williams last words. Its around 7:45
The intro is very much like archives of pain... First time I've heard this song, since I bought the deluxe edition on the day of release, and obviously it isn't on there :(
Good track. Like the guitar.
Amazing
This song is class...
Bag Lady by Todd Rundgren and Erykah Badu are worth checking out too.
Yes i know that, but he was such an intelligent human being he could of planned everything out before he vanished. So the line "I am not dead" could refer to him . And when william's last word's was written it gave the impression it was a suicide note, so on another lyric " I am not dead" it could be about him. Maybe i am looking to much into this.
awesome
they should be much bigger up here as well. They never get enough airplay.
Why oh why didn't they include this on the album?!
from italy:bellissima!
@PeeledApples I think the manics have certainly had all the respect they deserve, loyal fans forever and loads of them. What else can a band ask for. If anything they get too much respect because they are so hit and miss these days. Just my opinion.
Yeah i know. the i am not dead bit freaked me out a bit when I first listened to the album, cos i didnt know the hidden track was there and I fell asleep to williams last words only to shaken awake by "I am not dead!"
Lyrics are off
Walk in half view of all mirrors

not sure. its he last song from what i know so if it isnt then its a hidden track, similar to send away the tigers and know your enemy with "Working Class Hero" and "We Are All Bourgeois Now" respectively.
why isn't this on the £20 version?!?!?!?! what a fucking rip off! how come we miss out on this! sooooo unfair! im in a right strop lol! since i paid the extra... i want that track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*thumbs up*
Can you download this anywhere? it doesn't seem to be on itunes
Very well said. i completely agree with youm im uploading more songs from this album right now so watch this space. If anyone has requests please message me :)
haha yeah i think i am going to do the same, you should be able to find the whole album on youtube now, i purposefully uploaded the songs from the album that were not on youtube. It is an amazing album!
Oh okay, thanks! Which interview was this? Do you have a link please?
Tis awesome-o 9000
as far as im aware the track is free to download from the manics website. however i know it does suck that you don't have it on CD ='(
My English is pretty good, but I can't understand meanings of their lyrics
can someone help?
@beevisiontv
IMO, since a mirror is used to look at yourself, only accepting a part of yourself.
nice one! hope it's in.
The track begins at 7.00 or something after williams last words
reminiscent of archives of pain at the beginning (a good thing)
If it makes you feel any better, when you rip the CD of 'Resistance is Futile' (as everyone still does, obviously), the 1st word of the wave file for the track 'sequels of forgotten wars' is misspelled 'sequals'.
Think it could have been the end track instead of Virginia state, but saying that I like the album as it is. Works.
...it's a secret track starts playing after williams last words if you leave it long enough
Hands down the best song on the album, don't know why it wasn't a normal track instead of hidden...I guess they wanted to have you look for the best without just giving it to you
Its not on special edition unfortunately.
"living abroad somewhere" god let him rest in peace for god's sake.
The song was written before he disappeared ffs!
Listen to 'William's Last Words'.
If that's not a suicide note, I don't know what is.
that's why I love this as a hidden track. "I am not dead" right after. its a punch to the gut.
I think a lot of the lyric's on this album do sum up richey's planned dissapearence. I may be wrong but there seem's to be plenty of clue's. Too clever to just commit suicide, look at lyric's in William's Last Word's and here on Bag Lady. Are they about him? or someone else? it's hard to get past that question mark...
Got mine as well, is bag lady a special track on yours? not on mine. gutted.
not on the track list, is this from the album?
I have their masterpiece The Holy Bible signed! and this signed too.
The last important band. How to make intelligence sexy.
@flashmcnashos i know but sometimes u want the manics 2 get the respect they deserve ykno??
not a clue its a very cryptic song. It sounds as if Richey is tormented "it ruined me" and how everything seems fake "love's written on paper and paper burns"
Where can i get the download for this?
Don't stand so...don't stand so... don't stand so close to me?
@happyman64issocool but its not a competition, its not a football match its just music
Probably about Richey, the first line is "I am not dead", is he talking about himself in reality ? could be. Maybe he will never be found.. but i think he is still alive living abroad somewhere..
yeah, I see what you mean. That would also tie in with the bit about a devil pretending to be a god. Maybe its about how disellusioned he is with life in general?
the last great Manics song.
another album or two since I wrote this, but I stand by it!
Yeah it's supposed to be a hidden track, but I downloaded the album and it wasn't there, which was a shame I was. Pretty dissapointed they haven't put it on the download version of the album
Yes I think you are looking too deeply into it.
well thats odd after the thousands of views i've had your the first person to decide that, wow...
Sorry about my spelling on here too! disappearence i think that's how it's spelt.
Yes very melodic CornelisDonovan, are you a big fan of their's dude? oh someone think's i am richey manic on here!!
philosophical overview???
The start of this is so much like Archives of Pain from Holy Bible. Search for it here and tell me I'm right!
what does it mean, "walk in half view of all mirrors?"
LeppardPrintAnimal Richey was so thin, probably didn't want to see himself face on in the mirror
Not wanting to see all of yourself, as you can't accept yourself as you fully are.
Don't fully examine or question yourself and your life and morals, is how I take it. "Never let yourself out", don't be true to yourself. Living a lie is easier than facing the truth. Bag Lady. A woman with a bag over her head, never looking at herself? Yet she may be ugly underneath. (Though I don't know if there is another definition for bag lady...) A person who never examines their life yet thinks they are morally superior may live a happier life, but they will never get the sunrise of a new life (eternity). They are living a lie. And being religious does not make you a loving person. Faster also mentions a mirror, "The first time you see yourself naked, you cry.". Also, "The naked lightbulb is always wrong." The uncovered truth is always harsh, blinding, and hard to accept. A lot of his lyrics reflect a deeper look into life and feelings of shame or dirtiness and disgust with the world and himself. I could start listing them but then this would turn into a novel, haha...
A bag lady is a homeless person.
A devil pretending to be a God…
.....it did...
Hidden track...at the end.
Kind of glad I didn't buy the special edition now...
i wish people would stop listening to radiohead and listen to manics; OK computer vs Bible? no competition
They're both cracking, why choose
Love them both, and the two albums you mentioned are two of my favourite albums of all time. I agree though that the Manics deserve the same level of recognition that Radiohead have.
It's strange, because I've always looked to both for true artistry. It's been many years since I first heard THB, and I've often wondered how it compares to the more famously 'depressing' Radiohead. Thom's lyrics are great, but usually not that bleak, but the music and his voice is, touchingly so, yet it doesn't make me feel depressed. With THB it's the lyrics that are truly desolate, and that feeling can stay with you much longer. It completely floored me the first time I heard it, I'm glad I was in a relatively good place at the time, and could appreciate the harsh beauty of it!
Not on my album it is not! :(
Michael Ellis It should be. It’s a hidden song at the end. The CD doesn’t stop after the last track, so just wait a few minutes and then this comes on.
@@SiLatics56Annoyingly, and *really* perversely, it's not on the `deluxe` version (I know, dear reader, because I bought it)!
@@jamesthecat Thats a shame 😔
Sounds a bit too much like Archives of Pain. That might be why it was used as a hidden track, to not be accused of trying to recreate the Holy Bible?
