  • The Sunshine Coast, what a place! Getting to explore and tell the story of BC's Sunshine Coast Trail, meet the local people who are integral to the trail and the place-and have an amazing time doing it-was truly special.
There were certainly some highlights, including riding the mountain bike trails at Coast Gravity Park, and spending a night atop Tin Hat mountain, one of the most scenic spots along the hut-to-hut trail. It was an incredible place to watch the sunset and an incredible display of the Northern Lights!
I hope you all enjoy this episode of Trackin' Dirt-be sure to leave your comments and questions below!

I've lived here most of my life, side fact, Roberts Creek supplied the best weed on the West Coast 😂
The stuff sells like gold in Vancouver (now that it's legalized)

Great video! I'd like to hike a portion of this trail and this was super informative. I'm wondering how many kms Eric hiked each day / if he was shuttled or if it is possible to hike from Sarah's Point to Tin Hat Mountain in two days. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Well, anything's possible. The current speed record is just under 29 hours for the full trail. But that's far from normal. Most people would not hit Tin Hat on day two. There are huts in between at Manzanita, Rievely Pond, Fiddlehead and Inland Lake before you get to Tin Hat. Of course it all depends on your speed, how long you make your days, and the time of year. But I would say four days to Tin Hat would be more enjoyable.

I really love the videography, however I am confused. The distances between the hut locations visited are rather far apart. It would take a solid day of hiking and long hours to cover these distances and that is without all the stopping for videography, interviews, etc. Were all these miles hiked within the 3 day period of hiking that the way the show is cut together suggests or were there either more days and/or support transport?

He did not do the full route, but was shuttled to different start points. Which is one of the great things about the Sunshine Coast trail: you can do as much or as little of it as you like because there are lots of pick-up and drop-off points.
