Wow i dont remember a market but just shops/thrifts over there. That thrift was bigger to back in the day then they down sized, but the inside wasn't remodeled either.

Thanks for posting!! The view from the Walmart side down to the Sears is amazing! It looks so small!! The store you can barely see the name of was the Oriental Relaxing Station.
@@HEYMANWITHJAYMAN It's impressive how methodical they are being with the demo. When you drive on Tustin at night, the center entrance is still lit up like nothing has changed. I wonder when the old JC Penney begins its demolition.
@@jeffbatdorf yeah & weird how they chunked out the wall in the back like it can be replaced like nothing ever went on. But i havent been there lately so maybe the whole back end is gone?? Minus the JCP building
Thanks for the video. Weird cause I don't live very far from the Orange Mall. Yeah I know it's "The Village" and Used to go there a lot. And the thrift stores too. The Thrift store "Sheepfold" moved to Tustin Ave.
It's really upsetting that all of these strip malls are closing down entirely. I have dreams of opening a music venue and I'm sure I'm not the only one with dreams of opening a small business. The closure of these strip malls, for what, luxury apartments? Instead of dropping rent prices and allowing small businesses to thrive is just sad.
Spent many hours at the Family Thrift Shop, always great stuff there. If you went on Saturday it was hard to find a place to park. That entire center has been empty now for about 3 years. The last thrift store closed when the virus kicked in and people stopped showing up. Still wonder about the Orange Mall, nobody really seems to know what the game plan is.
Great video! You visit all my my old stomping grounds. I used to work at Shaffer Park in the summer I would go across the street on my lunch to get tacos and go thrift shopping

@@HEYMANWITHJAYMAN Yep... I was over there a few months ago and also saw your video on it. Sad to see it go. Seems like the Brea Mall is still active though.

Are they tearing down the whole mall to rebuild the property, or just the enclosed mall portion itself. I didn't live too close to it but I did pop in once in a while. I remember way back when it was called "The City", and that was one of two locations of an REI store in Southern California. Most memorial time for me was going there the Saturday afternoon after 9/11 to see the re-release of 'Apocalypse Now' (director's cut) at the theaters on the west side - literally tons of security personnel in and around the mall, and all the shops were open, but very few customers that weekend. The old Crystal Cathedral (independent Christian church) is off to the northwest of the mall property, even that's changed as the local catholic diocese bought it and uses it as the main cathedral/church - cool place if you've never been in it.

Thanks for the replies. With so many of them closing or re-branding I can't keep my scorecard up-to-date! 😟😟 I need to go over to the South Coast Plaza area, maybe I'll drive around there and see what's changed, especially where Sears used to be. I've seen some predictions that this Christmas shopping season will be 'down' and worse if a longshoreman's strike happens (October 1), so more malls might be closing in 2025.
