I remember watching him play for that magnificent Milan side of the late 80s and early 90s. I said it then and I'll say it now.....the best defender I've ever seen. He turned defending into an art form with his elegant style of play. He could read the game and knew exactly where to be to intercept an attack. His passing out of defence would make the best midfielders jealous. Absolute legend

Actrually seen him play, just amazing. SO precise in hhis tackles, this man never went into a tackle to just damge the opponent,never played dirty in a sense. His techinique as a defender was like no one today. Love for Franco Baresi!

Reading the play, intercepting, marking, tackling, organizing deffence and even start build up play from deffence, baresi had it all..
Nesta is the one almost similar to Baresi, while Maldini physical presence and his deffence ability made him well-known so easily..

Su Baresi l'unico dubbio riguarderebbe la tenuta fisica nel calcio di oggi oggi, ai tempi potevi sopperire con tecnica e velocità alla mancanza di cm e peso oggi non c'è un centrale sotto 1,85 m per 82/83 kg, lui era 1,76 e di corporatura esile

@@marcovavuso727 l'unico infortunio traumatico quello al menisco usa 94, nel 1981/82 stette fuori 5 mesi per un virus di cui non si è mai saputo cosa fosse. Infortuni seri non ne ha avuti. Più che tenuta fisica i dubbi sono di struttura fisica per quel che riguarda il suo adattamento al calcio di oggi anche se c'è da dire che la preparazione fisico-atletica è diversa, ci sono giocatori degli anni 80 (Cabrini, Briaschi) che hanno confessato di aver giocato col crociato lesionato cosa oggi impossibile perché allora i ritmi di gioco lo consentivano
