That night shot of the small local was nice. The PanAm boxcar was a nice bonus.Don't see many PanAm things around here. Thanks for putting the video together.
Hi Mr.Jawtooth, Great video, those were some nice old signals, very surprised to see them still in service. I can remember as a kid, visiting the grandparents, having to open and close gates. The good old days, gone forever.
it looks like the lone engine switching was aware of the crossing gate problem, as they were taking it slow and easy! :D Last thing any locomotive driver wants to be doing is filling out incident forms! :D
Loved those old working signals. Over the past few years Norfolk Southern and CSX have been replacing block signals that have stood for several decades with modern signals that all look alike. Many of these older signals featured designs that associated them with a previous owner/operator of the rail line in question. For example, the Pennsylvania Railroad and Baltimore & Ohio each had distinctive position light signals that immediately said “Pennsy” or “B&O” on their respective territories.
Smitty SF-3751 Great video, like the night runs, and you were not kidding about all the rail fans. Never saw any people watching trains back in the late 60's. when I lived in Columbus.
That PamAm box car you moved with, I have seen many of them in use down here at the paper mill in Macon GA, at the south end of Benson yard. Just a little tid bit.
Good news Jaw Tooth you can still find those G-type signals all the way up the Big4 from Columbus to Berea and on the Pennsylvania in mansfield and Crestline, and also up the Toledo line and Youngstown line. You want rare signals you need to look for the old Pennsylvania position signals, the ft wayne line some still, between CP ORR and mp140, CP MOHICAN and CP CREST, also the River line down around E.Liverpool.
Jaw tooth I laughed so hard because I'm a trucker, I drive for werner enterprise and I been on the Anheuser Busch account Hauling beer outta their for 7 years and I realized where you filmed this thats my job site, and I know the guy standing their he's the security guard that let's Csx in the yard everyday I see em all the time in their its cool I actually am getting ready to Get on with Csx once I go through training as a conductor but right now I gotta do my drug screen and Physical first Good video and videos buddy 🙏🍻
Also Thank you for tellin us the railfan hangout in Columbus I live here and for the longest been trying to find a good spot to watch the trains I'll be at cook rd alot now hope to meet you 1 day 👊
nice video Brian.wel i gat this noon one base antenna for the 2 meter and 70cm band.i put it on mine balkon on the 5th floor. mabey also one beam antenna.
Hi Jaw Tooth. Interesting selection of freight wagons. It always looks so precarious when containers are stacked one on top of another on the train, especially when the smaller container is stacked under the larger one. This is something that you would never see here in the UK as it would never fit under the bridges and in the tunnels
Nooooow then -sundown and night live action -we are being treated to some extra special Jawtooth video ! This is special -love the signals and the impatient CSX machine! There was no running the red at that crossing ! Bit of a special treat Jawtooth -thanks for this one ! Take care -stay safe ! Regards
There's some old searchlight signals still in use on the BNSF and CP in spots yet. There might even be some Grizwalds still in use too in the Twin Cities. But there's only 1 crossing I can think of that still has a good mechanical bell on it yet on a class 1 line.
This is awesome! I know right where this like is in Columbus. This line also runs by my house north of Delaware and they just started setting new ties out, and I believe they are getting to replace the rails.
Awesome! I go up there every year in March but this year they cancelled the seminars that I was supposed to attend. I got some good videos of the different crossings up there last year
Road crossing Gates where late to close at the start of this video, good thing the loco was at a slow speed I'am sure the engineers knew. Quite sure no one is in a hurry how good is that. What there's more lol always looking for more.
Who you calling old, son? Mid-eighties, Alamogordo, New Mexico. The Southern Pacific was replacing searchlights and semaphores with those 3-light signals on the Tucumcari line north out of El Paso.
Hi Mr. Toot! That engineer at the beginning was a tad impatient....should have pulled a little closer to the crossing and stopped, waiting for the gates to come down...must be late for lunch, 😆...nice dusk shots, always a good time, Please...stay safe. Never know what you might catch from those passing engineers with no mask on...✌😂
@@JawTooth Sweet i don't like it being dry for long because droughts can lead to fires lol and i have a garden planted and it's in pretty bad shape right now hopefully you could be able to come back to Newark sometime there is an Indiana and Ohio Railroad train that runs right behind my house taking trash trains to Zanesville it has Ohio Central #4218 horn
@ 2:29 mark: the lower signal looks pink while the top signal is plainly green. Although one should never assume, are both high lines now operated by CSX on one of them and NS on the other?
Great video Brian. I have never seen you shoot night action! That NS A line runs north up through Lewis Center where I grew up and on up into Toledo. Going south the line goes through Chillicothe all the way through Portsmouth.
I shoot at night some times but they usually don't get many views. I have a night time coal train that I filmed in Virginia that I am thinking about posting but they just don't do very well.
Hey jawtooth!! Hows a goin??! Havent heard from ya in a while. Anyways awesome video and if you want to itd be awesome if you could come up to alliance ohio for some more ns action! Me and my other 3 railfanning friends would love to meet you! See you soon!
Yes one was NYC's Big4 line to Columbus, and the other was a Pennsy line up to 1968 when they sold it to N&W so they could reach Bellevue and the Nickel Plate for which they had merged.
You know its funny to think if they actually know that those gates on those crossings dont work right. If they did, they wouldnt malfunction like that Jaw.
Ok thanks .nices switcher and nice end of scanner action, do you see my RUclips channel? Check it out last Friday there was the Big Tress train come down from Felton to do a test train
That night shot of the small local was nice. The PanAm boxcar was a nice bonus.Don't see many PanAm things around here. Thanks for putting the video together.
Thanks Steve! I bought a Pan Am boxcar in HO. Not many people realize that they were an airline at one time

Hi Mr.Jawtooth, Great video, those were some nice old signals, very surprised to see them still in service. I can remember as a kid, visiting the grandparents, having to open and close gates. The good old days, gone forever.
Great catch on that old signal getting knocked down, JT!!!
LIVE ACTION, BABY!!!
The Heritage signals were awesome! As always... fantastic LIVE ACTION!!!! But wait... there's MORE!!!
Crossing gates that play "chicken" w/drivers, old school signals, a #PanAm boxcar...never a dull video w/Jaw Tooth! Thanks! #ButwaitTheresmore
Great ,never seen them signals operate , i love the glow off the old stuff , i wonder if the new gear will last that long .Great work there Friend .
Great shots of the operating trilight signals. I spend a lot of time modeling signals and always enjoy seeing a train knock one down to red.
it looks like the lone engine switching was aware of the crossing gate problem, as they were taking it slow and easy! :D Last thing any locomotive driver wants to be doing is filling out incident forms! :D
Nice video Brian! I like how you were able to video the train at 16:46 knocking down that signal.... green.... yellow....red!
Glad you enjoyed it

I just love it when I find videos taken in my hometown/backyard. I have rail-fanned at Cooke Rd. many times. Great video. Keep 'em coming!
I was supposed to go to Cooke road on Tuesday but we spent too much time in Circleville and didn't make it.
Nice to see the old code line still in existence . Like the old signals too ! Nice catch , jt !
awesome catch JT, i loved the lighted old USS signals. Now that is LIVE ACTION!!!
Thxs Jaw love the radio in the videos, and the blocks signals changing.....

I like that old signal, very neat they still use it and it still works. Lots of train action at that spot I see why a lot of rail fans flock there lol
@ 4:03 that's the most consecutive number of cars I've seen strung together without graffiti in years. Something must be wrong.
prob some on the other side
The old signals were a great feature to see made to last
The Cooke road Crossing in Columbus Ohio I want to go check that out sometime and video some trains going by

It would be sweet to get ahold of one of those old block signal stands when they replaced it with new ones.
U. S. AND S. CO. (Union Switch and Signal Company) made around 55,000 M1911A1 .45 ACP pistols for the US Army in 1943.
