🌼 Off the silver screen, Daniela is a biologist interested in the ecology, behavior, and evolution of social insect societies, mainly honey bees and wood ants. She completed her doctorate (PhD) in honey bee genomics and behavior at the University of California, San Diego in 2022.
🌼 Currently, she is completing a UC Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Riverside with Dr. Jessica Purcell's research group, studying supergene evolution in a native wood ant.
🌼 Daniela strongly believes in the importance and value of science communication and education and strives to make science both accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience. Her science communication style is broadly influenced by theater, dance, spoken word, comedy, and telenovelas.
🌼 She is also currently working on developing STEAM educational programming for the incarcerated communities of southern California as part of a larger prison-industrial complex abolition project. She is interested in developing courses that use zines as learning tools to promote interactive engagement with scientific topics.
🌼 When she’s not analyzing DNA sequences, you can find her papercrafting, gardening, foraging for wild mushrooms, hiking in Death Valley, or looking for horned lizards in San Diego's beautiful chaparral and desert regions.

Love the vlog. I am so happy that your Bees are doing well. I don't think people understand how we literally depend on them no bees no us. Your back yard is amazing and that pink craft project came out nice. I need to find one myself. I am currently using the pink craft cart from Micheal's and yeah it is pretty full. Thanks for letting us tag along.
Hiii aww thank you so much, I really appreciate you! I definitely agree, bees are so important, particularly the native pollinators! I should probably get a bee hotel for them as well. 💖🐝 And ooh yeah the craft carts just can't hold a lot of weight and I completely crushed mine with all of my heavy goodies haha But I'm so happy with how this one turned out! 🩷

Thanks so much!! Yeah I actually tend to enjoy chores (except maybe wash the bathroom haha) but its less fun when I don't have enough time to get them all done and then my house stays messy through the week. And yes omg I'm glad you mentioned that. I knew it was coming up but it wasn't in the front of my mind. I would love to do something. Are you going to do any ritual? 💖

I’m impressed with how unimpressed daisy was with your painting lol. That’s how my dogs are too. Always looking at me like “I see your petting hand is doing something other than petting me…”
hahaha yeah the pugs are always following me around, trying to see what I am up to. Daisy especially. I love seeing these speeded up sequences when I'm editing and seeing exactly what my pugs are up to, because I don't notice them as much when I'm focused on a project like this!
