Yes it was but in all honesty the rappers back then who was considered fake would look like Gang leaders against these rappers today for the simple fact that most rappers from the late 80’s & 90’s lived in real life ghetto slums & many didn’t have heat or AC back then, also back then before social media & hi tech video games hiphop emcees was raised as kids & teens outside & that helped paint the picture of where these rappers lived & they exposed it in there music videos…also when you would see a legion of goons posted up outside on there block in front of there apartment building in NewYork city it was just showing you everyday real life in Brooklyn, Queensbridge, Bronx, Harlem, Washington DC, Northern NewJersey , Compton , Oakland etc…BUT today in this generation these same hoods have Aircondition, Heat, running water hot & cold & internet in the crib & all the kids have cellphones…..plus you can drive through any hood today & you may not see a handful of goons outside, back in the 80’s & 90’s it was just normal life in the hood to see goons posted up & selling dope…..in this generation the term drug dealer is really the dam dispensaries because out here in California that’s where most people go to buy there weed….So definitely today it’s almost all fake today, dudes keep rapping or talk about pull up to my hood WELL it’s nobody outside it’s nothing frightening about it unless it’s a lot of homeless there, back in the 80’s & 90’s not only were there homeless but you had to deal with the real gangstas / the street cats who out there politicking on there block smoking weed & drinking 40’s amongst many other schemes etc. Today I saw on Facebook where it says Snoop Dogg diss 6ix9ine & in the comments these idiots are saying well Snoop is a fake so how he talking bout 6ix9ine…..well Snoop again is from the real era of Gang culture & he been around real blood & crips down in Southern California back in the 80’s & 90’s he doesn’t have to actually be in a gang to rap about what he seen UNLIKE today these kids are all claiming sets but nobody hangs outside on there block, nobody is out there slanging dope all day & night on the corner etc & there ain’t no more fist fights in the hood….Wack 100 done disrespected Nipsey & a bit of everybody but yet dudes will get on clubhouse online & argue allday with him but nothing happens, 6ix9ine is being pretty much labeled the poster child for Brooklyn….smh…..neither would be ANYTHING back in them wild & crazy 80’s & 90’s…..Wack would probably be pushing up daisies now if he would have made those disrespectful comments back in the 90’s & 6ix9ine also.
