i so agree, the exec level is also immaculate with the environmental storytelling, like the room u get the admin card in was just a terrifying sight to walk into
I also agree with others on this one. This was the most notable atmospheric track in the game, it's a very fitting sense of dread for the Executive level when you finally get here and start uncovering more about what happened on the station.
The first time this soundtrack hits is such an “oh shit” moment….. really captures the feeling of how alone you are and how far SHODANS corruption has went…. While you’re looking at the bodies of the other wealthy nobles aboard the ship that Diego sold out to ensure his own good….. just an amazing soundtrack to an amazing game. Very well done on the atmosphere
Hearing this track while listening to the Diego log about how he wishes to be spared by SHODAN, offering to be the spreader of her divinity and selling out the location of the resistance was absolutely haunting. That, and the contrast between the elegant rooms filled with gold and expensive goods and the corpses and blood everywhere. Executive may be my favorite level this far, next to Research and Medical
So I expected the remake to have pretty faithful remixes of the boppin' tunes from the original game like the Nightdive Waves remastered soundtrack, but that's not what we got really at all. Instead, we got really awesome, atmospheric tracks like this that really convey the lonely feeling of wandering around a space station, not knowing what horrors might await you. I think out of all the decks in the new Citadel Station, this one is my favorite, in no small part due to this music. I would be much more annoyed at crawling through the big vent system on Deck 6 time and time again were it not for this track. Seriously though, I cannot stress enough how immersed the music helped me feel in this game. I had not been immersed in a a game this much in years, maybe ever, and I had to pry myself away from my keyboard after realizing that I'd been playing for 5 hours without so much as getting up from my chair.
I feel like they took inspiration from Mick Gordon, and not just his work on Doom but his work in general with the synths and guitars. But if you listen closely, you can hear some notes from the original game being played. Listen to the flight deck combat track for both the original and the remake and it comes out pretty clearly compared to the rest. At least so I felt :)
@@HEXAGRAM-mo4cg You are right about that, it does seems to very slowly follow the old tracks, the tempo is just so much lower that I honestly couldn't hear it at first. This also sounds similar to the original executive track although aiming for another sound.
Despite the bop of the original, there was always something melancholic about the track in the Executive level in '94. This version takes that mood, refines it, and goes all in for the best (and worst) feeling of being lonely and isolated on a desolate space station.
Easily the best piece in the game executive level might just be my favorite because these vibes are immaculate

i gotta go with flight deck exploration personally
Don't mind being lost in Citadel station when this music is playing in the background. So badass.

Especially when you consider that the people on Executive would have been the first to die as they posed the greatest risk to Diego.

It sounds a lot like his work on Prey (2017) to me. Very similar in tone, which is understandable considering what both of them are about.

There is a teleporter in a secret that allows you to skip the crawling. The track is lit though.
@@VergilxUA can you tell me where it is generally? im there rn in my playthrough and thatd be mad useful
This track is fire!
I can't agree enough, I'm so glad they remixed the Executive track!
@@quotepuro6097 Me too. Executive track was my favourite in original game.
when you get promoted to middle management and your brain is like...
1:45 is what got me hooked, some variation of it started playing right after I killed some gorilla tigers.
Possibly the best track in OST. Hits very close to prey 2017 which is exactly what I needed

This is so good it almost comes close to the original
medical and executives ftw
Executive is the best theme in this and the original, mainly because it actually has the DNA of the original song in it.
I love how the System Shock Remake just busts all over everyone with its art deco.
we making it out of citadel station with this one
This one gave me Prey vibes, which is funny cause i know SS inspired Prey
executive is veri prey (2017) for somethiesreasonings
Nothing like entering combat on Exec level..
заебись👍
soundtrack is very very good in this game, almost better than the original one
This whole soundtrack is a an utter disappointment... nightdive had one job... and they gave us this garbage!
Imagine thinking this is garbage
yeah i know. the music sounds like something from a terrible superhero movie trailer
Bitch I love the OG soundtrack as much as the next person, but even I can't deny that this soundtrack is gold and fits just fine!
You're here. So you seem to like it in some way or just getting a rise out of others.
