He was fast but didn’t finish his pit cycle because of JHN wreck so he stayed a lap down then got back to lead lap but was caught with that dirty air in the back and then idk how he drove all the way through lol
I rate this about 85% because of: Elliot, Larson, Hamlin, Brad K, Chastain, pit strategies and the track oddities. I really enjoyed the race despite Fox not sharing why Chastan and Blaney losing their lead in the pits. 😊
Watching from the condos may have impacted my views on the race but I had fun and I am very glad my home track did better than the short tracks. It was nice talking to you again on pit road.
As a Brad fan, it’s tough seeing him come up short again trying to end his winless streak. But no question he’s helped turn RFK back into a weekly contender again and seeing victory lane with Buescher multiple times since Brad got involved with the team operations. That team though needs to improve their qualifying efforts. Tough to end a winless streak starting outside the top 10 every week
@@MegaMr46He or Penske might get off the snide next week. I am not big fans of either, but Brad I now would like to see win next of guys needing to end long losing streaks.
Also a Brad fan, and I don't think he takes the risks he used to pre-owner. Early in 2022 he was more aggressive, had some bad finishes, and I think saw it threaten the success of the team. Ever since, he's been more about ensuring a good finish than risking it for a great one.
I'm chastain's biggest fan and as Dale Jr would say, he came off 2 and about busted his ass. I hate that Byron couldn't miss him, but that isn't really on William I don't think. Like he said, he had a run on the last lap and couldn't really afford to lift there to let Ross gather it up. Just part of racing where cars sometimes just end up at the same place at the same time. Texas really rewards precision and aggression, but it punishes lack of precision and aggression also. That is why ross always excels there, but the track does bite back sometimes.
Hey Eric I was there for the first time I've been wanting to go to my local racetrack for NASCAR and I had a great time tickets for my birthday to this race I was excited and now I'm very happy and I want to go back again when my mom and dad and two brothers since I was here with my aunt
Can we talk about FOX. I think they had a Nascar race in their commercials. If I am not mistaken, they missed multiple accidents. That happens if for every 10 laps raced, you get 5 laps of commercials. WTF
As a chastain fan, he slightly lifted cause he slid up a bit. Byron could have checked a bit but decided to drive through him because at the very least he knew he's gain a spot and let his team mate secure a victory. At least it's my take. Which is worth nothing 😅
That and Byron had such a huge burst of speed that there wasn't really enough time for him to react. Probably a difference of 20 moh coming out of 2 with Chastain lifting and Byron running through with it pinned to the floor
Your 100% correct Byron is an a****** he's a dirty driver he moved Chastain all the way last week and then he says he's just racing I hope Chastain takes him out big time he's a jerk🤨
Brad keslowski has been kicking butt too, happy to see him out there. LOVED the kulwicki callback, you could tell it made him emotional. Wallace fighting back for a solid finish as well! You should use the fancy mic for the interviews if you can, kinda hard to hear the drivers over the noise. Maybe texas world speedway shoulda been THE track...
And you didn't really explain that Larson lost his tire after a pretty long run under caution before they came down to pit which was very strange. He ran the entire run and didn't notice anything until the car slowed down
Hendricks on Instagram said you probably couldn't blame the pit crew for Larson's Wheel coming off. Seems like the Single Lug Broke, Really Liking those 5 Lugs with all these Wheels popping off.
Single lug was the dumbest idea for nascar...no stock Toyota, ford, or chevy has a single lug...and I'm sure it has cost teams more money that staying with 5 lugs.
Correct. I've told people this for awhile. Most of the wrecks Ross cause is the other was just to slow. Hopefully Bryon doesnt go slow infront of Ross the rest of the season. Free game to run him over.
I can tell Eric is trying hard to get a broadcasting job and he deserves it. Especially more than Bob Pockrass who looks like he’s holding back a giant shit everytime he speaks
I thought that Sundays race was by far more entertaining than the most recent short track events that NASCAR has managed to bungle (other than Bristol of course). My one complaint would be the way that NASCAR seems to perpetually burn laps under caution towards the end of the race, even when there is literally zero wreckage on the track.
Not just at the end. They always do...full commercial break...then pit...then full commercial break...every time....including stage breaks. Probably spent 100 laps under caution...though fans paid for 400 laps.
I know you probably didn't get a good look at the Chastain/Byron incident at track. But Ross got lose on corner exit and got way out of the gas and Byron was just coming with to much speed at that point. Ross made the mistake and caused Byron to run into the back of him
In Fort Worth area too so it's my home track! Best race we have had in years still not perfect but getting better. Also, the fan attendance was finally good again!
@@rebelsoul5980 for new Texas standards it was great. But still not a lot of passing and lots of cautions that nascar extended for way too long. I did really like that lots of drivers were driving on the edge of control though
I would've gave the overall race a 78. The bumps in turms 3 & 4 need to be eliminated, regardless of what it may cost (or take), however. I heard the NASCAR official say over the radio (post checkered) that Byron was p2 and Keselowski finished p3. I assume they switched it back to Bad Brad ending the race with a p2 finish, since both, you and Bologna Burger, reported a p2 for Keselowski. Being a "Just Joey" fan, its not important to me! Great report, as usual, and keep up the great work, Eric! ❤💛 🏳🏁 💙 🖤
The way Busch and A Dillon were able to get top 10’s was because of them not pitting for a very long time during the final stage when everyone else but like 12 drivers including them hadn’t pitted. Caution came out while they were still trying to not pit. They got to use the caution pit time as their pit time and got to make a lot of drivers do a lap around. Then they did their best to not try to lose spots and stay steady thru the rest of the race/restarts lol! - from a KB fan
@@easyenetwork2023 honestly I wasn’t watching Logano too closely but I believe it’s when they pitted under caution that Busch came out ahead of Logano. Also all ik is they need to figure out the shi for Kyle. I’m sick of him having to push a bad car to the limits to get a decent finish. He’s a great driver in bad equipment right now.
I was hoping the 8 would stay out in the 1st stage like the 9 and 6 did. Those guys got track position early and got to adjust to being up front. 8 obviously wasn't going to pass 35 cars legit so...I was bummed when they pitted and then caution came out a few laps later. Glad they had the opportunity to do it later in the race
To me this race ending under caution just seemed right with how the race was going from the second stage on. Though they need to do something to fix this track and I would like to see all four corners brought back up to equal banking. At the very least the track needs a repave and a dirt reworking in turns 3/4 to minimize the formation of the bumps.
every single time McDowell has a decent car this season its always something that happens. Daytona his engine failed, Atlanta he crashed onto pits, Bristol he blew a tire, Cota he lost power steering, and now, Texas he crashed being aggressive, Its just annoying. and most of these aren’t his fault.
After this race, I think Ford needs to find their footing in Nascar. It's been 12 years since a manufacturer went winless in all three series after a quarter of the season went by, that was Dodge back when we had 4 manufacturer. It's the first time a manufacturer has gone winless running in all 3 series with only 3 manufacturers competing in each division of Nascar.
I'm sure that Ford is not caring about NASCAR. I think they are waiting for F1 next year with Red Bull. I think you might see Ford leave it. They need to get more Xfinity teams, especially if SHR leaves....
@@arthurpasseri4761I think Ford is staying, but that is likely why NASCAR is talking with HONDA and Andretti so much. Ford leaving is a massive blow to NASCAR.
Sure am glad Truex rebounded from being 32nd at a lap down and then get a 14th finish. That loose wheel almost ruined his day, but he salvaged a good day.👍
I think not adding traction compound might be smart. It takes away that false sense of grip too. But this car has been tricky on grip since the Next Gen, especially at Texas. The playoff race in 2022 was wild here.
What a choas, Bowyer hangover talking on national tv like he is on bar with his friends, my fantasy pilotes going from 1st to last to 1st to last to crash... what en eventfull night it was for me
I believe this is the second race now where they did not apply any compound on the track. It is going to take forever for that compound to fully wear off. I believe this is why the racing at Texas is improving along with the track aging
I was listening to the race via my NASCAR app and I can tell you my heart rate was through the roof on that final restart. To me the only experience that gets close to radio is actually being at the track. Once chase crossed the line to start the final lap I knew that if a caution came out with chase in the lead that the race would be over and I let out my emotion when I heard the caution flag come out on Radio.
@@Evom777 I get what you’re saying Texas is awful to watch but also Charlotte has a bump in 4 and that doesn’t always end days. It’s just one of those racing deals sometimes it falls your way sometimes it doesn’t even when it comes to track conditions.
And then they'd come back from commercial break and either show a single replay, or just talk about what happened. Don't even get me started on how many times they'd start talking about someone only for the camera to pan to a different unrelated car.
I'd like to disagree. I think they spend way too much money ( nascar)... no need for all that technology...I mean, what other " sport" has sponsors ALL OVER the players uniform,? Sponsors on every car, every wall, every camera...and then 84 commercials in 3 hrs? Cmon...
He even said on hos recent appearance on The Dale Jr. Download that he has been running Super Late Model races to get better in the Cup car. O don't think he would want to get better if his heart wasn't in it.
So Byron's lame excuse was just mumbling "I had a run and it was last lap". This wasn't Daytona. He was going for 2nd at Texas. Ross needs to get payback on Byron soon.
The way Hendrix keeps winning I doubt you'll ever see a Ford in the playoffs something's up with that car and the Chevys in the Hendricks camp are perfect you can't beat him😂
I think Bowman is driving a little scared too. Concussion and back injury in back to back seasons. That could affect your confidence a little. Plus, he lost Greg Ives who seemed like a calming factor for him.
Thanks Eric for saying you never bought into the Chase Elliot won’t win again narrative. Neither did I. A leg break is serious. I had no doubt he would win again and even this year. 🏁🏁🏁 #9 😎
Did Ty Gibbs ever get penalized for the first green flag pitstop he made, when he took the wheel socket with him onto the track. I watched the race and they said he had to come back down under the yellow flag because he had a socket on his wheel. Isn't that removing equipment out of the pit box? Like a wedge wrench. I just never heard them mention it as a penalty.
It's hard to say with NASCAR and their silly rules on that stupid one lug wheel for 54 they might have just decided it wasn't a penalty cuz they like him and I'm surprised they penalized Larson he's the best driver in the world they should have gave him the benefit of the doubt😊
@EricEstepp i actually agree with that score- the racing was a little lacking with the 3 wide part( restarts were best place in my eyes) but the on edge of whos gonna spin next or whos gonna go to high and go around definitely brought the intensity up.. kyle loosing a wheel probably brought a viewers spike because ( and im not 100% ) i believe thats the first hms car to have that happened? Especially on track
I wanted to attend but hubby wanted to watch on tv. It was a long race and a lot of wrecks. Maybe it’s time to dig up the track and reconfigure it. This track has been a wreckfeast since the first race! I’m thinking something different like a figure 8 with an overpass.
Ross checked up on exit and Byron had a huge run. Even on the broadcast they were saying that there wasn't really anything he could do there. Gained 10 car lengths in half of turn 2 and probably a 20+ mph speed difference between them
Say what you will about Chastain, but he’s good about understanding that mistakes happen. I mean, he’d have to be, given his record. I expect he’ll cool off.
My favorite part of the race was looking at the scoring on the screen and seeing the Reddick line flip spots with the Hamlin line and wondering for ten minutes what happened
Eric, another great video! I was unhappy with how NASCAR handled the cautions at the end of the race. Too many laps run in between restarts. What are your thoughts?

He and Briscoe both had fast hotrods wrecking to top 10s at checkers
He was fast but didn’t finish his pit cycle because of JHN wreck so he stayed a lap down then got back to lead lap but was caught with that dirty air in the back and then idk how he drove all the way through lol

Normally when you choose to stay out and hope for a caution it backfires. Well not today.
Good race ! I didn’t start watching until the end of stage 1 but it kept me watching.
I rate this about 85% because of: Elliot, Larson, Hamlin, Brad K, Chastain, pit strategies and the track oddities. I really enjoyed the race despite Fox not sharing why Chastan and Blaney losing their lead in the pits. 😊
HMS/JGR have 95% of the wins so far.....they ain't gonna show anybody else till they win. Lol.
I really hope they don't remove the bumps in the corners. Texas isn't beloved by fans already and the bumps add character the track desperately needs.
Not to worry, Talladega will be the spot for his 7th win at the track.
Ford is just a little off as a whole besides Blaney. Though Briscoe is overachieving big time right now.
@@Imspammedout He has gotten more conservative with his driving compared to in the past.

WTF
The commercials suck!
Ross wasn't catching Chase
@@JWC924 never said he was.
If you watch the in car camera Byron had no where to go since Ross checked up and went down the track.. he was headed for the wall regardless
Maybe Talladega can be helpful for Bossman Brad
I underestimated the power of the boobies. Make any grown man cry. But I understand the Kulwicki love too. Alan was well respected in that garage.
Happy for Chase's win.Goos to see JJ complete the event. The bumps in the track took some great contenders out and robbed us of a hard fought win.
you’re doing a awesome job with this channel i find myself here all the time i appreciate you don’t post nonsense for clicks thanks man
And you didn't really explain that Larson lost his tire after a pretty long run under caution before they came down to pit which was very strange. He ran the entire run and didn't notice anything until the car slowed down
Yeah, no way it was left loose
Great call by Alan Gustafson to get that track position early in the race!
Funny how people were once calling for his head after the whole Watkins Glen ordeal.
@@lets-go-larson5Alan has gotten better since then, somewhat. They have more qualifying speed which might be Chase adjusting. I overreacted to Alan.
@pennstatefamilyoninstagramAnd I wonder if them swapping crew chiefs would have worked. It might have helped Bowman.
Hendricks on Instagram said you probably couldn't blame the pit crew for Larson's Wheel coming off.
Seems like the Single Lug Broke, Really Liking those 5 Lugs with all these Wheels popping off.
Yeah I thought no way it was left loose and ran that long before coming off
Single lug was the dumbest idea for nascar...no stock Toyota, ford, or chevy has a single lug...and I'm sure it has cost teams more money that staying with 5 lugs.
Byron did not make a mistake Chastain was simply way slower than byron.
Correct. I've told people this for awhile. Most of the wrecks Ross cause is the other was just to slow. Hopefully Bryon doesnt go slow infront of Ross the rest of the season. Free game to run him over.
Just a matter of time. Between his snowboard accident, recovery and the shoulder issue he’s been grinding and it looks like he’s back!

Thanks for the coverage, Eric. Always top-notch.
Elliot was super aggressive today, it was a nice change and look how it worked out for him
Texas was an okay race but Talladega's next! My first in-person race since 2019! Can't wait to be there!
If you think this was an "okay" race your expectations are sky high. This was a damn good race!!
@@rebelsoul5980 for new Texas standards it was great. But still not a lot of passing and lots of cautions that nascar extended for way too long. I did really like that lots of drivers were driving on the edge of control though
@boilercoasters8442 not sure what you are looking for in a 1.5 mile track!!
This was a great race. This, combined with the amazing Xfinity finish on Saturday, made for the best TMS weekend in years.
Been sitting here waiting on this upload Eric! I look forward to your race reviews every week. Congrats on your shoutout on Denny's podcast!
Was sitting right at turn 3 and 4. Holy hell Bubba saving that car was pretty impressive to see
The way Busch and A Dillon were able to get top 10’s was because of them not pitting for a very long time during the final stage when everyone else but like 12 drivers including them hadn’t pitted. Caution came out while they were still trying to not pit. They got to use the caution pit time as their pit time and got to make a lot of drivers do a lap around. Then they did their best to not try to lose spots and stay steady thru the rest of the race/restarts lol! - from a KB fan
But Logano and others did not really take advantage like RCR did. RCR needs to probably go to HMS and ask for direction. Or Trackhouse.
@@scubasteev agreed!
To me this race ending under caution just seemed right with how the race was going from the second stage on. Though they need to do something to fix this track and I would like to see all four corners brought back up to equal banking. At the very least the track needs a repave and a dirt reworking in turns 3/4 to minimize the formation of the bumps.
MOST of the on track incidents (at least for the first 75% of the race) occurred while fox was at a commercial break.
My spouse said it best, Hamlin is driving a yahoo car because he is a yahoo 😂😂😂
every single time McDowell has a decent car this season its always something that happens. Daytona his engine failed, Atlanta he crashed onto pits, Bristol he blew a tire, Cota he lost power steering, and now, Texas he crashed being aggressive, Its just annoying. and most of these aren’t his fault.
As a McDowell fan I feel the pain, preach man

Hot take - this was way better than Martinsville last week
Who cares? Ford sucks.
Briscoe even got wrecked and was able to stay out of any more messes to finish in the top ten
Sure am glad Truex rebounded from being 32nd at a lap down and then get a 14th finish. That loose wheel almost ruined his day, but he salvaged a good day.👍
Yes, me too. He did not deserve that bad pit crew.
I think not adding traction compound might be smart. It takes away that false sense of grip too. But this car has been tricky on grip since the Next Gen, especially at Texas. The playoff race in 2022 was wild here.
William Byron will drive through anyone. He did the same thing at Daytona. What a punk.
I don't blame him for Daytona but he can take the heat for today. He was dumb to poke the bear bc Chastain will start wrecking Hendrick cars once more
What a choas, Bowyer hangover talking on national tv like he is on bar with his friends, my fantasy pilotes going from 1st to last to 1st to last to crash... what en eventfull night it was for me
I believe this is the second race now where they did not apply any compound on the track.

Chastain checked up exiting turn 2, Byron had a major run on him
So Byron's lame excuse was just mumbling "I had a run and it was last lap". This wasn't Daytona. He was going for 2nd at Texas. Ross needs to get payback on Byron soon.
I'm ready for Talladega next week. I think we are going to have a underdog weekend for smaller teams. I think Ford also has a chance.

Respect for ty Dillon he was in the top 15 all day long
Even with 42 race winless he still out preformed Bowman.
Can’t argue with you there
I think Bowman is driving a little scared too. Concussion and back injury in back to back seasons. That could affect your confidence a little. Plus, he lost Greg Ives who seemed like a calming factor for him.
Wonder if Alex Bowman can break his winless streak too?
This race was chaotic

Byron better keep an eye out for the 1 for the next few weeks. Sounded like Chastain was on the warpath following the race.
Byron used him up
Byron dumped his ass, Ross can be mad
Ross checked up on exit and Byron had a huge run. Even on the broadcast they were saying that there wasn't really anything he could do there. Gained 10 car lengths in half of turn 2 and probably a 20+ mph speed difference between them
Say what you will about Chastain, but he’s good about understanding that mistakes happen. I mean, he’d have to be, given his record. I expect he’ll cool off.
@gavinwinkler1147 and if he was a good driver could of lifted and avoided him. He dumped him square.
Chase is on the case! 🏁🏆
