This is the best written* Star Wars property ever, IMO. Not one part has been "phoned in" for this show. When I first heard they were making a show about a secondary character that is a prequel _TO_ a prequel my first thought was, "Why?" But, I watched the first episode to see what it was all about and, man am I glad I did. Once Cassian (Keef) gets into prison it becomes a different show in the best possible way (not that the first episodes up to the Aldhani robbery were a disappointment, because they were not). Several of my Star Wars friends have said they thought it was boring because it doesn't have Jedi, lightsabers, space battles or even the Force in it. But I strongly disagree. Slow pace at times? Yes. But boring? No way. "Lost" was also largely slow paced but I consider it one of the greatest shows ever put on television. Anyway, the depth of characters, storyline and environment is off the charts. For the first time we see imperial characters on a more personal level, even meeting Syril's mom! Usually they are portrayed as 2 dimensional bad guys with no explained motivations, but in this case we do. This, along with The Mandalorian is exactly what Star Wars needed. * and acted, directed and produced!
Count not agree with you more. It's "slow" because they take their time setting up and developing characters but I haven't been bored for a single second. I thought this show would be good, but I didn't expect it to be THIS good. We're finally getting to see what life is like for everyone that doesn't have a lightsaber or force powers and I absolutely love it!
I don't think we're going to know if Kino made it. If anything I'd be very happy to see him in the second season. And for such a long swim, the rate of survival may be very low. It was a brilliant episode with two epic speeches. Great reaction btw.
The ambivalence, the unknowing if Kino made it or not, is exceptional writing. It keeps you connected, invested to find out more, with all possibilities open in the mind of the audience. Did he jump? Did he stay? Did he attempt to swim? Did someone help? All possibilities are open.
@@gabrielestrada8523 And? No one complained. Btw it’s not that exceptional, it happens often. I loved the episode and I don’t think i needed or asked for a slightly patronising explanation of its ending.
@@Chilicat1 I was commenting on the exceptional writing that set up the moment, leaving the audience wanting more. You don’t see that in the other Star Wars shows, where they give you an resolution for every dramatic moment, whether it makes sense (the Mandalorian) or not (Book of Boba Fett).
Not that I escaped many prisons, but if you do a great escape with this many people, you always have to break up and go separate ways, otherwise you are easy to spot from air and be gathered up.
As to why we see just the two in the end I assume everyone ran off in different directions. If they would stay as one big group they would be easy to catch.
I wasn't sure I was even liking Andor 2 or 3 episodes ago. This one made me feel things that no TV has made me feel since Tyrion's trial in Game of Thrones S4. Brilliant, brilliant stuff.
I totally understand the people that had a hard time getting into this show. It takes it's time setting things up. But the last few, especially this one, hit some really emotional tones. Speaking of Tyrion, it's crazy how much I miss that character. One of my favorite characters/performances of all time.
@@KevinReactsTV I was missing him from about S5 onward. We never really saw him hit heights again once he joined up with Daenerys. Oh I defended the show from the off - my rational mind knew that the slow burn was what we'd all been crying out for and would make for a much more compelling story in the long run, my head knew that the show was onto something. My heart... Took some convincing. Largely I think because I never rewatched Rogue One after seeing it in cinema and thus had no connection to or interest in Cassian going in. Definitely looking forward to a rewatch of R1 after they finish this, though.
Haha that’s awesome, I have Office quote going off in my head to almost everything. Have to reign them in sometimes lol. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
I think it was a nice place to leave the story of Kino. The audience, like Cassian, never knew what happened to Kino. Maybe he mustered up some courage and jumped. Maybe he drowned, maybe someone helped him reach the shore or maybe he doggy paddled his way to the shore. We will never know and nor will Cassian.(unless he returns in S2 which I hope he does Andy Serkis is amazing)
It was so unexpected to see him in this show. The more I think about it, I doubt that we learn anything this season. Maybe we never find out, but I hope that he is in season 2 as well. I'll never get tired of seeing Andy Serkis on screen, especially as himself.
The longer I think about it, I think you're right. He probably either died tried to swim, or was there when the Empire got to Narkina and secured the prison and was either killed or locked back up.
@@KevinReactsTV Realistically, I think you're right. Kino Loy's story ends just as Luthern's monologue proclaims. When Kino threw in with the escape plan, he knew the prison was surrounded by water. He knew he couldn't swim. Like Luthern, he fought for a sunrise he knew he would never see. I have heard that Andy Serkis will appear in the next season, but with Andy Serkis there's no telling what character he might portray.
So... Narkina 5 is a moon. Narkina Prime is the planet...a gas giant, like Jupiter. The moons in the sky at the end of the episode are some of Narkina's other moons. We only see Andor and Melshi because probably only a third or a quarter of all 5,000 prisoners actually made it to land (or some other facility they could steal transport from), and they all would've split up immediately after getting out. Sticking together inside the prison was the smart play...overwhelm the guards. But outside, such a huge group would become a liability, easy pickings for any military operation to recapture or exterminate them. Splitting up forces the Imperials to divide their own efforts to catch them, and gives the escapees greater flexibility in avoiding and responding to those efforts. Even if Kino got out (and I sadly don't think he did), he wouldn't have been with Melshi and Andor later. Those two were long gone by the time he would've ended up jumping (if he did). He'd wind up with some other group.
I was just caught off guard that it was only the two of them, but that totally makes sense, they would definitely split up. But like Cassian said, just getting to the point of jumping means they made it out. I'm still holding out hope for Kino, hopefully he pops up and runs into Cassian at some point in Season 2
It makes sense that all the escapees would not necessarily go to the same place considering how they swam away from the prison in different directions. Maybe the ones who ended up on the same piece of land decided to go their own way for various reasons. We will almost certainly see many of them regrouping in season two and possibly in the last two episodes of this season. Fantastic show!
It does make sense, I just was surprised that it was only Cassian and Melshi, figured they would have a few more of their tablemates. I think that they will run into some in Season 2, hoping Kino is among them!
@@KevinReactsTV 💯! That reunion has to happen. I think it will have the same impact, or more, than the Luke Skywalker at the end of Mando season two finale.
*Great reactions. The acting in this series has totally over compensated for making that AK47 mistake that initially gave me no hope... now I have "a new hope" for this show out preforming even the mandalorian.*
Heeey, I see what you did there. New Hope. Nice. Yeah that was a weird choice with the AK blaster. It very well could outperform Mando, which has(was) been the best live action Star Wars we’ve got in AWHILE.
@@KevinReactsTV Yeah, HotD was quality, but for me this show had the same rich production quality, and the same great writing and acting, but has more meaning (at least that I can connect with). I mean I'll never sit the Iron throne, but I was really feeling a connection when Kino said, "Wherever you are, right now, get up. Stop the work. Get out of your cells. Take charge, and start climbing.” It seemed like he was speaking to me.
In the case of the two command center techs, there was nothing they could do anymore. They shut down the main power, and I highly doubt the backups allow for total lockdown. If you do a lockdown and the backups also fail, then the guards are completely fucked too. The Empire generally doesn't care about its own any more than it cares about anything else, but it's highly unlikely they'd deliberately design a prison to kill its operators. As for calling for help, the Narkina system didn't seem like it would be regularly patrolled, so it would take a solid while for help to get the message and arrive. They're not going to send a star destroyer, and most other Imperial ships just aren't that fast. Which is why we see Melshi and Andor running away from searchlights at the end. It's hard to say how long it had been, without knowing that particular moon's day/night cycle (we know they had two 12 hour shifts in the prison, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything). Odds are it had been a couple of hours since they got out of the facility.
You're definitely right about the Empire not caring about their own. Damn near everyone is expendable to them. The guards seemed to be pretty comfortable controlling them through fear alone so they for sure weren't expecting a prison break. I was just surprised they left those two alive since they were pretty much taking out every other guard without thinking about it. Thanks for watching, can't wait to see happens in a couple days.
I think kino makes it. Last episode the doctor said "I can't save anyone", then during the prison break they focused on the doctor. I feel that's a little foreshadowing on how kino gets saved, buy the doctor who thought he couldn't save anyone.
Oh yeah, that is a good point. They did hang on him for a second, they had some kind of relationship too since Kino said that he hadn't seen him in a while. Fingers crossed!
Cassian and Melshi still have to escape the planet. I wouldn't be surprised if Cassian & Melshi are confronted by a Imperial ship thinking they have been caught only to discover it is Kino who stole the ship (since he couldn't swim) and is there to escape the planet with them.
12:31 Cassian Andor does not kill unless he has to. Back him into a corner or stand in his way, sure. But if the job's done, he's not going to senselessly kill them when the whole of Narkina 5 is already alerted to the status of the mission and the power can't be turned back on. It would have been useless and against his character.
True, we haven't seen him kill anyone needlessly. I was just surprised that they left them alive since they were basically the ones in control of the facility and I'd guess they were probably the ones who made the call about Level 2. But you're right, there wasn't much they could at that point.
I know you’re probably right. During editing, seeing how he was kind of nervous before speaking to everyone. since the escape happened so quick, that might have been the first time it dawned on him that he wouldn’t be able to leave. But… I refuse to believe it!!! 😰
It is a shame, but it seems like it is picking up momentum. I think that it'll have a strong finish, more word of mouth will spread and people will catch up before next season. I think the interest at the start of Season 2 will be much higher.
If I’m not mistaken it’s already been green lit. They know it’s only going for 2 season to lead into Rouge One. They could decide to scrap it but I doubt they would.
Thank you so much for watching! ❤

Heeey, I see what you did there. New Hope. Nice. Yeah that was a weird choice with the AK blaster. It very well could outperform Mando, which has(was) been the best live action Star Wars we’ve got in AWHILE.
@@KevinReactsTV haha, thank ya. I totally agree. : )
My favorite show this year.
Probably between this and House of the Dragon for me, but they're like 1a/1b. It's absolutely amazing!
Kino sacrificed his life for a sunrise he would never see... like Luthen.
Such a powerful episode!
Beautiful reaction brother. Love the way you felt every line
I really appreciate that 🙏🏼 that was a special episode that I won’t forget for a long time!
amazing reaction
Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Cassian and Melshi still have to escape the planet. I wouldn't be surprised if Cassian & Melshi are confronted by a Imperial ship thinking they have been caught only to discover it is Kino who stole the ship (since he couldn't swim) and is there to escape the planet with them.
I absolutely LOVE that idea and really hoping you're right!
Kinoooooooo! 😢 we need to know what happened with him. That ending was too bittersweet it hurt
I have a feeling we won’t find out until next season unfortunately 😔 such an amazing episode
I´m sorry to tell you, that Kino has very much likely sacrifice himself knowingly he couldn´t swim. 😭
I know you’re probably right. During editing, seeing how he was kind of nervous before speaking to everyone. since the escape happened so quick, that might have been the first time it dawned on him that he wouldn’t be able to leave. But…
I refuse to believe it!!! 😰
❤
Thanks for watching ❤️
The currents could be really bad on that planet, the escapees are all spread out...
Didn't even think about the currents! Even if they did want to stay together that would make it tough.
#kinoloylives
I really hope so!
Unfortunately the show is dying off. Truly one of the best streaming shows but no one is watching it.
It is a shame, but it seems like it is picking up momentum. I think that it'll have a strong finish, more word of mouth will spread and people will catch up before next season. I think the interest at the start of Season 2 will be much higher.
@@KevinReactsTV I really hope so. A Season 2 would be wonderful
If I’m not mistaken it’s already been green lit. They know it’s only going for 2 season to lead into Rouge One. They could decide to scrap it but I doubt they would.
TV Gold. Everything else is mediocre at best now.
