The Overlooked Battle of Tebbs Bend: Civil War Kentucky

  • With names like Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant dominating the headlines, we often forget just how many different actions of the Civil War were happening at the same time. There is no better representation of this than the Battle of Tebbs Bend, which occurred on July 4, 1863 - one day after the conclusion of the Battle of Gettysburg and the SAME day that the Siege of Vicksburg came to a close.
    Join Kentucky native Taylor Bishop of the American Battlefield Trust's Youth Leadership Team as he details this forgotten battle, part of Confederate Brig. Gen. John Hunt Morgan's Raid onto Northern soil.
    Look for our numerous videos on RUclips over the next week, and special thanks to all the donors who helped make this trip possible!

    OUTSTANDING! Taylor did a superb job. This story really flowed for me. I googled the Tebbs Bend Battlefield Plan and it's a great PDF of the plans for entire site along drawings, photos and maps. Wonderful guys! I take it Kentucky deer hunting season in swing with muzzle loaders going on when you were filming and modern guns starting today. 👍

    As a proud Dad of two kids (are they still kids when they're 20 and 17 and far cleverer than me), I love learning interesting facts from them as much as I enjoy passing my historical knowledge to them. Watching this just confirms how great it is to see young people with a passion for learning. Great work in all your efforts to encourage them and make exceptional videos like this.

    Garry does a much better job than some of the older presenters on these presentations. One major complaint would be that he does not point to the positions where the various actions took place, nor does he indicate the directions of the troop movements. This is a major failing of many of these presentations. The best has been the Harpers Ferry historian. Location, location, location.

    • @blueblur6447
      @blueblur6447 3 года назад +1

      I want the history, the names and stories from these videos. I have many books, and internet resources to see the movements. If they did do what you are asking, I think it would be done justice with a drone and video editing with the arrows, exe. That would be a neat addition if executed properly.
