Written by James Hendricks, it became one of Rivers' top ten hits. I particularly like the B3 organ lick at 2:31 and referencing the Beatles' song. In the summer of 1967, EVERYBODY was listening to that album.
i was 16, in love and the world was such a beautiful place where horrors were happening. We were contradicting the horrors. I am 73 and these were the defining moments of my life.
I find it absolutely extraordinary that the lyrics reference Sgt Peppers, what other song does that? At the time this song was released in early 1968 the Beatles were not the legend band we remember today, they were just another of many successful chart topping artists and Sgt Peppers was still in the charts having been released only the previous year. Its like the guy who wrote this could predict the future.
Always LOVED this....especially the reference in the lyrics to the Beatles Sgt. Pepper album..💙💜
I especially liked that part also. He sang so many great songs with his great voice.
Came out during a happy time in my life so it makes me happy. It also made me aware of Johnny Rivers' talent.

one of the few singers that sounds better each time I hear it
Fantastic orchestral backing, that stuff costs $$$MONEY$$$, only the very elite artists signed to the top record labels got that privelige
For many years I did not know the name of this beautiful song. 🎶💞
Around the same time Frank Sinatra had a hit record called "Summer Wind"
The music has a 007 feel to it.
Awesome
