Great video! I wish I liked Maplelea dolls more than I do because they are very cute overall and I like how they can be more easily posed. I'm just one of those people who get the Uncanny Valley feeling from them 😭
Thank you for showing us in more detail the comparisons between these two doll brands. I really like them both but I collect more American girl. I am Canadian so I would love to add a few more MapleLea dolls to my collection. I only have Taryn right now. I really appreciated you showing how they can hold their hands together in a pose. I did not know that! Right away I changed Taryn’s outfit, posed her and gave her a mini OG doll to hold. She looks so cute!❤ I will post a picture on my community page. Thank you!
If Saila ever restocks (the date keeps getting pushed) I’ll definitely add her to my collection-but I don’t know if I’ll keep her on this body, just so she matches the rest of my dolls. She’s got such a pretty sculpt.
I don't own a Maplelea doll so can't take measurements but own several pairs of the shoes and boots and a lot of the clothing. Here's what I think just by the fit. Maplelea boots are narrower but fit AG dolls. It seems like they are 1/2 inch longer than AG doll shoes. I could put them sole to sole and measure to get an accurate measurement but haven't done so yet. The narrowness isn't noticeable and fits fine. The only shoes they can't wear is open back like sandals and slippers because you can visibly see the overhang in the back. The extra length in closed shoes is in the front. They just look like they have bigger feet when two AG dolls are side by side and wearing the different brands. AG tends to make their sleeves on the short side (drives me nuts). Maplelea doll's arms (again not measured) are 1/2 inch longer and so the sleeves fit better and go to the top of the hand instead of half way up her wrist. Pants aren't as noticeable but I think they are 1/2 inch longer, too. All in all the Maplelea clothes are made better (Kudos to the Canadian manufacturer), fit better, and are cheaper per outfit due to the exchange rate. You can't drop photos in RUclips comments so I can't show the comparison but it is visible on the dolls.
I don't believe they come with underwear, however, you use to be able to buy underwear separately. You can still find them on second hand markets like Facebook groups.
I'm glad I bought Saila a few years ago and a lot of her indigenous clothing. She and some of her outfits are now unavailable and I am wondering if they will re-release her. One thing I missed out on is her Pang hat, but it is still listed as sold out for quite a few years now. Does this mean it will be manufactured again? Does anybody know? Thanks
I don't know when it will be manufactured again, but I do know those are one of the pieces made traditionally by Indigenous people who then ship them to Maplelea, so they are made by people and not machines so it is a little harder to make them. So it could be a while but I guess we will have to wait and see! It is a piece I'd love to have in my collection
She has been restocked as have her indigenous made pieces! Idk if they are sold out yet. I plan on picking up the pang hat. She sold out because if I remember correctly first people/indigenous Canadian organizations buy them up for the kids in those daycare centers the pieces sold out because like just dream studios said they are handmade so they make less of them
@@justdreamstudios I herd about it from I dream of Johnny with some of his doll video's I know he talks about it in his opening his Kit kittredge doll video. He Collocts First edition/first run pleasant company and he also has some of the newer dolls like historicals and some girl of the year and CYO and some newer Truly me dolls he mostly collocts pleasant company.
This is only certain years. Kinda rare actually. They’re called fortune cookie 🥠 dolls in the AG community and it’s pretty specific to late white body pleasant company dolls. Only happened for a few years Some AG dolls have shoulder tags but also not too common

That is definitely one plus of Maplelea girl dolls, the ability to hold their hands is a game changer!

If you do decide to do that, I'd love to see the results! It sounds like an interesting concept 😊

I like the Maplelea doll than American girl.
Interesting comparison. I know that most American Girl dolls come with their own underwear, but what about Maplelea dolls?
No undies!

@@Anon4a2cp yes I found out yesterday, thank you
What about comparing the hair on both dolls. Which hair is easier to comb and manage? thanks
Both are very comparable. I think they have very similar textures and both require metal brushes to take care of.
I herd if you take the head off an American Girl doll theirs something inside the head or something printed that says when the doll was made
Interesting! I wonder if I should take some heads off and see. 🤔
