The stupidest part of these over the top meals is the edible gold, which has no taste, texture, and no meaning other than having gold on your food.
Also its not that expensive at all. People think because theres 24k gold on their food its gotta be expensive. You can buy a pack of in on amazon for 20 bucks. Lol.

@@1216jimmyz the difference is that only the outer layer of the fibers is indigestable while the containing nutrients are still absorbed by the body, gold doesnt have any nutrients, its just a foreign substance to the body

One thing i love is, with the Worth It series I've noticed that any kinda American dish that's expensive, it's like someone tried to dump as much truffles, caviar and gold onto it as they could, and that's literally every expensive dish, yet when you go to other countries, for instance Japan, like sure the ingredients are "better", but there's no gimmicks, none of this stuff, it's just more about the way it was prepared and your general experience there, it's just funny seeing that here haha
Also, INSANELY shocking the price difference, like, $2000 for a pizza that doesn't even cost £200 to make? Con-artist if I've ever heard of one

Wow Japan is so unique and amazing for picking really expensive and great ingredients-just like most expensive foods in America. They just picked some of the most ridiculous ones they could find for entertainment and ones they knew would be able to be recreated at a low cost

rule of thumb on fancy-ass foods. if it has gold in it, its a rip-off. gold has no flavor, it has zero nutritional value. there is a reason professional tasters for companies use gold or gold plated spoons to sample flavor tests, because the spoon does not provide anything or take away from anything. gold is completely neutral and inert. so if gold is added to a food, its purely for the bragging right of saying it has gold in it and marking up the price, nothing more. some expensive things are delicious, some foods require exotic ingredients to work and therefore quality will cost more than cheap processed things, but at some point you are just adding crap to make it sound fancy. caviar is very often added just for pretentious mark-up, but it does have a bold flavor, so at least you can say in a recipe that it adds something to the dish, maybe good or bad, but it does something that only IT does and thats saying more than a flavorless nutritional-void gold trick. lobster is delicious, truffle is extremely flavorful and rare, wagu beef is a difficult product to create for a specific reason and there is some points to the chef making the thing, but caviar is most often just hype and gold is the most worthless food ingredient in existence. i dont care how rich i was, if i order food and it comes with gold flakes, i'm complaining, because someone is trying to con me.
So buzzfeed's "Worth It" is being overdramatic when they're creaming in their pants over gold flakes on a cream cheese pizza
you don’t have to complain when you have soft serve ice cream with gold leaf as the topping where I live, it’ll only cost you around $5
Gold leaves are super cheap so the rip-off is not only that they charge you huge amounts for it, but they charge you huge amounts for the status symbol rather than the actual "ingredient". That said, I actually like to eat gold leaves, its got a satisfying feeling in your mouth.
