Just be careful out there. You never know how audacious someone can be. I remember when I was living in Spain, I was just sitting there, chilling at a café, minding my business. Two guys all of a sudden decided to walk up to me, gesticulating, smiling, going like 'heeey que pasa (nice to see you!)' etc. I was the only person there at the moment. Perhaps they were guessing that me as a foreigner wouldn't understand much, they were using confusion tactics. I did understand most of it though anyway - well, one of the guys kinda sat down beside me, was up in my face, smiling, chatting along - by chance I noticed he was fishing my wallet out of my FRONT POCKET, I got up, I told them 'Vete, venga, just go!', they continued to act surprised and act as if they didn't know what I was talking about. Thankfully nothing bad really happened, they went on their way, continuing to act surprised as to why I would behave this way .. well, yeah, didn't mean to write a wall of text but some point is, be careful when you're travelling to other countries. You never know what kind of things people might decide to do.
This sounds a lot like what happens in Colombia, where many foreigners are being drugged with scopolamine (the flower they get the drug from grows locally) , robbed, and in some cases overdosed & killed.
Hello my friend, Man oh man. . . I heard many things happening like this in the Philippines. When I was there I didn’t and refused to have any conversations with the local guys. I’m always suspicious and try my best to keep my distance away from people like them. It’s sad but it’s either me becoming a victim or just walk away. It’s a rude awakening. By the way, you look good my friend. I hope is all is good with your health and say hello to Lek for me. Take care my friend
Thanks that has always been my approach as well I will be friendly but I keep my distance . Im feeling pretty good now still have a way to go . I ll work on getting this steriod fat off after Im off the medication to raise my blood ..
Hello Bill, nice to see you in another great video. I am sitting here in British Columbia, watching your video well after dinner then I see Burg Republic and the menu, well, I know where I will be eating at the end of Feb. at the Burg, I am now hungry, thanks Bill, take care
Sir you are a kind person, I am listening, when you walking and talking , I can feel that you out of breath,my suggestion is when you talking , you can sit down and then you can breath better , and walking just only to show us the environment and you can talk a bit, I love your channel, and I care about you, hope you have a wonderful days in 2024 🎉
Bill! I can see and hear that your health is improving by each video you post. I am very happy to see that🙏🙏🙏. I remember 8 years ago in front of burgerepublic there was a building on that square. And 6 years ago it was gone and there was this big night food market there. 2 years ago it was sad to see that almost nothing was left of this food market. Only a few food stalls remaine. Even a few months ago it still was a very small food place☹️. Covid... It was nice to see the coffee lady again though🙂
The drug they use is scopolamine. It is used in Cambodia as well. I have a client that was drugged by a Cambodian girl and he had all the funds taken out of his account. The drug makes you give them anything they want like passwords to your phone and pin numbers to your ATM etc. They even tried to transfer monies from his UK account to his Cambodian account to take those monies. He lost US$17,000. The police did catch her and she had done the same to 4 other people.
Friendly local scams happen worldwide. One time my friend and I met some college students in the park in Ho Chi Minh City. We hung out and eventually went to a small cafe. They paid for us and we parted ways. Sometimes the friendliness is genuine but you have to be careful
It happens everywhere. I have lived all over. Traveled in Europe and Asia. But, I born in the Philippines, and only place I got pickpocketed was in Bangkok, Thailand in a Mall IPratunam). From now on, I inform Wells Fargo Bank when I am planning to travel outside the U.S. They limit my Debit Card withdrawal to $300.00 for security reason. Most Thai taxi drivers are dishonest especially if you are a tourist. It is better to take the bus, the ferry by the Chau Praya River or take the train (BTS or Subway). Don't take the taxi.
great tips there to be safe and not be sorry. Huge issues everywhere. Best to drink out of one's own bottle/can that you yourself opened. If not, then run away and live another day.
That would be easy to pull in the Philippines. The people are genuinely friendly in general, so acting friendly wouldn't necessarily raise any red flags. The thing is, don't take a drink from anyone you don't know. Bottled beer from the bar you got yourself is the only way to go. And don't get real drunk!
When I was a young backpacker the bus from Chiangmai to Bangkok Was famous for people getting drugged Late 1980,s I also had an attempt at drugging me at a bar on soi Diana about 15 years ago I take Valium for my anxiety and have a high tolerance too it it saved my bacon as she definitely drugged me but with I guessed about 50 mg and I can shrug that off I openly told her I knew what she had done too me and she hadn’t gave me enough 😂 She stormed out the room with no mention of money or anything Guilty as sin

Got your pyjamas on, Bill? Expensive burger place . You've got to watch this drugging. I always give anyone the brush-off if they come up to me at random. My assumption: they are after something. Nick
Hi Bill, dang, yeah, Coffee Lady had three well deserved days off. I have missed this part of my daily routine. I will be out there for my mango smoothie and coffee later today. I have caught up with Jaco a couple of times. Jon is too scared to visit because of the weed shop next door. Well that is what Jaco tells me. 😆
The coffee Lady must be the nicest person in T/L, one doesn't find too many like her in the West, not being sexist just personal experience - But they may have been going through a rough patch all 10million of them.🙃
Just be smart & never trust anyone you havent known for a good minute. Rule for all countries, its really unfortunate what the philippines has turned into, once a lovely place, now a giant scam portal.
Thanks Everyone for stopping in !
So great that you are feeling so much better! Happy New Year and the best of health in 2024!
Thank you !

Great advice when travelling. Wonder if you have done a story on "Death Island" down south for your viewers?
No I have stayed away from that one ...
I'm dying to go there

Happens in Bangkok. I know personally. Beware the bar girls.
