For everyone sitting at home stressed and waiting a potential evacuation - take a video or photo of everything in your house. Open every drawer, closet, box, etc. Back it up to something not on your phone. This will save a lot of headache with your insurance company if you need to make a claim.
Put you pictures and documents and pets in the car, get a cheap out of area rental and take a couple weeks off. My family did this during the wild fires in Oregon. Our home was spared and it was a big expense taking 2 weeks off work and such but, I can assure you, it was entirely worth it.
When the punishment for unethically gaining money is only a fine, then that just becomes a business expense. A slap on the wrist will never sting for greedy people until it exceeds the amount they’ve earned.
unless the fine is a pretty good % of their earnings…. if they have a set number then it only effects small businesses, a percentage effects everyone the same
Fines should be income-based and also the crime. A guy with a minimum wage job may go to jail over a $200 dollar parking ticket, while a rich man wouldn't even notice. Driving violations aren't even a crime, it's just a tax to drive like an asshole.
The California fires have been a non-stop news story here in Eastern Europe. Most broadcasts have been using them as a way to talk about climate change and the serious impact it's going to have on our sense of "normal" in the next decade. My heart goes out to the west coast.
The difference between your news coverage and the states is crazy to me. Our news over here is so politicized and each side is trying to make this a red vs blue issue when it's a global climate change issue. The difference is depressing and stark. Says a lot about who controls the flow of information to the common people.
Its not "climate change" that caused this its lazy land management. Basically a bunch of hippies made the government stop doing controlled burns and removing dead underbrush because it was negatively affecting some animal back in the day. As a result we got piles of fuel in a dry desert environment. Some places all this dry dead plant matter is piled up taller than a person. The indigenous used to do controlled burns in the area to prevent these massive fires back before European settles ever arrived. Some of the trees actually requite fires in order to release their seeds while others have thick bark designed to protect them from fire.
And we are seeing it in Germany and central Europe. The past two weeks have been so low in temp. With wind chill, the western side of the country will hit -8C/16F tomorrow. And it will be like that throughout the week.
@@eryaviel The problem is that climate change is a politicized issue. And right wingers not only dont want to do anything to stop it, they want to keep doing things to make it worse. So it has to be politicized because around half the population dont want to fight the thing causing disasters like this.
Genuinely, the fact that the death toll is as low as it is so far is a miracle. Like, with fires this big, this persistent, this extreme, I would've expected a couple hundred dead, perhaps a few thousand injured. Stay safe yall
If the state would've employed more people in risk management and spend a fraction on what the insurances spend on predicting when there will be wildfires less people would've died... but that would require higher taxes and americans hate nothing more than evil evil taxes

A perspective on the LA fires I found to be incredibly thought provoking was Molly Burke talking about how she's experiencing the fires as a blind person. The LA fires are horrifying for everyone, I can only imagine how much worse that is for the disabled populace there and the amount they have to rely on others to make evacuation and safety decisions on their behalves.
So far, in all the stories I’ve heard about people that have died, there were all either elderly or disabled. I’m Australian and we’ve been told about a young man in his 20’s with cerebral palsy that lived with his mother. She had a broken arm and could not get him out of bed by herself. He told her to leave him and save herself. She refused but finally ran 400m down the road to find firefighters. By the time they got back to her property, the house was gone. It is extra devastating that so many of the victims were the ones that deserved the most help.
Those comments going “how can you be surprised they canceled fire coverage in an area with fires” peeve me off. How can you not? If I hire you to protect my property from potential damage, you don’t get to reneg and abscond with my money when you realize you’re going to have to provide the coverage I’m paying you for.
Deny the claim, depose the person in a state of shock, get them to trip up, defend your actions in front of a judge no jury. That's the summarized strategy of how.
As a Californian, my knee jerk reaction to the news about LAUSD was “Why are students being made to go back to school while the city is on fire?!” And then I remembered that for some of these students, school is LITERALLY their one chance to get three meals a day. Both realities are equally heartbreaking - on the one hand, these students may not even have a home to return to, but on the other the only secure food source they have is going to be the school system. Food security is way too difficult for too many to have and maintain, but I can’t even imagine the anxiety those kids might be going through because of all that’s going on. 2025 is turning out to be the very bleak start to a new year, and I’m already struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Id wish instead of paying taxes, we could just come together as a community to make sure kids have food, shelter, etc. the state always drags its feet for people.
The kids are probably eager to go to school, despite being extremely stressed. School is the only sense of normalcy right now and it is where they can receive support from friends, teacher, counselors, ext. Recovery is a marathon.
❤ I appreciate this insightful comment. It’s a dark reality I think many people would miss. School can also be the only stable and calm environment some children experience.
I lived in LA 25 years ago. We had a few fires in my area and they didn't cancel school. If the fire was too close to the school, we were bused to a different school. Edit to add: Looks like the Eaton fire is exactly where the one that was so close to my school was!
I love how the right is blasting the left for their failures in this catastrophe (criticism that’s deserved) and yet they conveniently forgot about how my state, Texas froze over and the right wing government failed miserably here and Ted Cruz went to Cancun.
Funny how this has been a growing problem for 50 years might want to start blaming some dead people for it man. I'm not being thing this has been warned about for about 50 years and not one side has done a thing.
What blows my mind is how multiple winters in a row tons of Americans have died from cold exposure. That's something that makes sense only in a 3rd world country or dictatorship.
I agree that both the left and the right need to be held accountable for their failures. What I have a problem with is people (on both sides...but truthfully more on the right) purposefully misrepresent reality or downright lie making false accusations. There really should be laws against that. Hold people accountable for their actual mistakes..not fabricated BS.
I can agree that it is a completely logical business decision not to provide fire insurance to homes that are in an area likely to have fires. But there definitely should be laws preventing them from making that decision, otherwise, it defeats the purpose of fire insurance. This is just as bad as back in the day when health insurance companies could deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.
This is because they are min maxing profits not anything to do with prevention, mitigation, or good heavens payout. Deny the claim, depose the the individual in shock, defend your actions in the court of law through a third party lawyer, without a jury present.
I feel like anyone who risks their life for the public good on a regular basis while serving their sentence should never have an issue getting hired after release. What more do people want from convicts to show they've taken a turn for the better in life?

Never used that crap, I'm kind of surprised and also not surprised Facebook isn't being gutted, too. Tiktok is poisoning the youth, and Facebook is poisoning everyone else. The only other difference between Facebook and TikTok is that lizardman Zuck owns a lot of our politicians
As an Australian, watching videos online of reactions to the LA fires is absolutely baffling to me. The chaotic evacuation process (ie. people standing around inside their houses while the smoke alarms are going off but not evacuating) and the blame game that's going on with politicians and pundits are both horrifying and heartbreaking. Education on bushfires over here is really strong and we have a standardised place to go for accurate up to date information. Within the past two weeks in my home state of Victoria we've had a fire about 6 times the size of the LA fires but with no deaths and comparatively minimal property damage (albeit partly because it was burning in a rural area not the middle of a city but having some of the best trained firefighters in the world and education for local residents on how to maintain their property to minimise damage does contribute significantly). It's absolutely shocking to see the flip side, where the general public have very little education/readily available sources of information and the people in charge do nothing but bicker about whose fault it is. Sending love (and also some of our firefighters) to everyone who has to deal with the shitty reality of this natural disaster
LA is known as LaLa Land slow talking delusional never prepared for anything The amount of pools they have only one resident so far used his pool and sprinklers to safe his home and a few neighbors home the rest just fled
Part of it is because of how polarized we are politically but a big part of it is also because of the location of the fire. For a lot of the country, wildfires are something you see on the news as a distant thing, the other half of the country is freezing at the moment , so a lot of the people you see bickering or spreading misinfo aren't the ones being impacted. Even for people in LA, wildfires are something that usually happen in more rural or less populated areas of California. Whats happening right now is spreading through more densely populated suburban and urban areas. There's been barely any rain there in the past 8 months, but that was directly after an extremely wet season, so you had a ton of vegetation growth and then several months to dry it out into the perfect kindling. The Santa Ana winds are blowing the fire at up to 70 mph (112 kph). Plus, because of southern California's topography, you have a lot of canyons that can end up causing the Venturi effect. There's been reports that some isolated gusts of winds are hitting 100mph (160 kph). The planes and helicopters can't really dump water on the blaze in these conditions, and urban water systems are not built to handle this magnitude of a disaster. In some cases the fire spreads faster then the people evacuating. It's literally the perfect recipe for an extremely damaging wildfire.
The final death count from the fires likely won’t be known for years to come. It’s not just about who gets caught in the fires or their damage. All that smoke and burnt infrastructure is likely bleeding into water supplies and will likely cause god knows what diseases. Remember how many people died after 9/11 not because the towers directly, but all the crap that got aerosolized by the collapsing and the fires. So many people will likely wind up with some kind of cancer or long-term lung damage. We need to advocate for some kind of on mass medical treatment, long-term for the victims of these fires and people in the surrounding areas if you live anywhere near these fires or downstream of them, you should also make sure your doctor checks you regularly for any signs of secondary damage.
That would be nice and makes sense to you and me that that’s how a government should act and operate preparing for scenarios decades in advance. It’s not real and won’t ever happen but it would be nice.
The way that the fires are being politicized is insane to me. The way that ANY national disaster turns into a political debate just leaves me feeling hopeless. People are suffering, and the suits on the Hill are play acting for the camera. We need real reform. We need representatives who care about the people and not about their bank accounts and those who pad it. Edit: I didn't think it needed to be said, but I'll say it anyway- Political affiliation does not matter in a time of crisis. Help now. People are suffering now. Political theater later.
My aunt lives in Altadena. She evacuated and heard that her neighbors house was on fire. That house is now gone. It burned hot enough the spontaneously ignight the curtains in my aunts house. Miraculously, firefighters were there when that happened, so they managed to put out the curtains and moved furniture away from the door. My aunt is incredibly fortunate and greatful, but absolutely devastated that her community is in ruins. Stay safe out there everyone.

Regarding the incarcerated firefighters, IT SHOULD STILL PAY THEM WELL. they are doing something positive for their community, they are literally paying it back for what harm they may have caused, they should also be paid well because it is SO DANGEROUS.
I heard that they’re only deployed in low risk areas, it’s clear from the way they refer to the program they’re more than happy to be there doing it. If you watch the full clip of Hasan interviewing them the prisoners were very happy about it so much so that Hasan had to literally interrupt them speaking and bring up their wages so he could soapbox it was so blatant.

The whole concept of denying someone healthcare for bad health choices is a slippery slope because who's to say that the someone doesn't find your choices to be reason to deny you healthcare coverage. Our health needs to be a right.

Also, who gets to determine that, say, heart disease was caused by someone being overweight or a smoker, and not by their genetics or some other factor(s)? After all, there are people who do "everything right" health-wise and still drop dead of a heart attack at 40. There are so many potential factors for various illnesses, including ones we don't know about or understand yet. If companies want to deny coverage or care due to lifestyle choices, they need to be able to prove definitively, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the behavior is the sole factor that caused the illness.
Also there would be a lot less hate and drug use in the US if there was not the looming fear of medical bankruptcy. You could then truly go after the people doing that stuff since that is what they like to do the most.
Personally, I think it's a sad reflection on reality when everything is so damned expensive that anyone even needs insurance at all. Like if a tornado knocks down my house, it should never cost so much that I can't easily build or buy another one. Inmates being allowed to work the fires is, generally speaking, the kindest level of exploitation the terrible corrections system provides. People getting outraged over it should have been foaming at the mouth long before now because inmates are legal slaves and have been for a long time.

A lot of people are saying they should've done controlled burns in that area before the fires. What they don't know is that the forested area is literally near populated cities (Malibu, Pacific Palisades etc.), which is a bad idea because the controlled burns would leave the terrain incapable of absorbing any water, which unfortunately would lead to mudslides and flash floods in those same populated areas the fires are burning in due to heavy rain. I live in Arizona, which is familiar with wildfires, and I've seen flash floods and mudslides come in to creeks and small communities as a result of burn scars from wildfires leaving the soil hydrophobic.
Silly liberals! Don’t you know the solution is to just level the mountains? That will get rid of the mud slides! And if you pave everything over until you reach the high desert, then there won’t be anything to burn! /s

We are not compelled to automatically look for the most negative take on something kind. They are our allies and they are willing to help, gearing up to send firefighters 6,500 miles away even as they are in the midst of an unprovoked war. That should be met with gratitude.
@ which is why I said it was kind hearted first. but not being willing to consider all motivations when it comes to global politics (bc sending aid IS always a political thing, whether it should be/those were the intentions or not) is naive. Not sure why you feel the need to argue about this.
I live right beside these fires. Whether or not Ukraine gets something back from their aid is a non-issue. That's usually how the world works anyways - we scratch their back, they scratch ours. I'm just appreciative of the aid.
@@soulechelon2643 yeah, for sure. I’m sorry you’re going through this - I can’t imagine how stressful it is. But my point definitely isn’t that the help isn’t welcome, it’s just a bit sad to think about how much of Ukraine’s future depends on the US (as much as I wish it didn’t) and how decisions like these might play into it. Like, knowing that Ukrainian soldiers were watching the US election polls from their bunkers… I can’t imagine that thinking about his country’s future didn’t play at least a small part in Zelynsky’s decision to offer aid.
It’s amazing that foreign counties can put their anger aside and ready to send in support in the US for the fires considering the threats of war/tariffs against them from Trump. Truly shows kindness and charity crosses all borders
I’m willing to bet at least some of them are doing it because they want to make Trump like them, because managing his personal feelings is the only way to manage international relations now smh
⚠️ CORRECTION: People on doctor prescribed and monitored long-term opioids ARE NOT considered "addicted" though we are considered "opioid dependent." "Addiction" implies you are doing something you SHOULDN'T BE DOING because it's harmful and/or illegal. There is a difference. Every pill I take is monitored by my doctor and my pharmacy. The doctor decides how much medication I can take, not me. Also, I get drug tested every 3 months to make sure I'm not selling my medication instead of taking it. Lastly, folks on long-term opioid pain meds don't feel "high" from their opioids. We barely even feel completely out of pain!
Good comment overall, but the only thing I would change is that addiction isn’t defined by “doing something you shouldn’t” it’s about direct problems with your health or functioning in day to day life because of substances. The other factors include dependence and then withdrawal symptoms. But personal problems are the big distinction because anyone taking any meds long term will experience a degree of dependence and withdrawal because that’s how the human body works! Thats why it’s so important to hear stories like yours because so many people assume that regularly taking meds automatically equals addiction when that isn’t the case. Chronic pain sucks. 💔
@haileyoslund Buffalo! I appreciate your thoughtful comment. My comment was definitely inadequate, but I try to be brief in this setting. Something will always be left unsaid, unfortunately.
@OverdramaticAngel You're surely not the only unseen and unheard "yeller" when pain meds are discussed by the uninformed (or misinformed). There's an enormous population of chronic pain sufferers in this country. Sadly, we disappear from our jobs, and from our former activities, and we eventually get forgotten because we suffer in silence... until we yell at the phone, that is!!! Thank you for your awesome comment! It's always nice to know someone else understands... although I'm sorry if you understand because you're in pain, too. This is a lousy club to belong to!
My best bud is Chinese. We've been talking about the recent wave of people transferring over to Rednote from TikTok, along with other friends who are either also Chinese themselves or married to a Chinese individual. As many have probably noticed Chinese people are chill with new members joining the app. They are very welcoming. However, they still want people to understand where they are. Understand that it is a Chinese app. All users, regardless of where they're from, are subjected to CCP laws and regulations. Do not assume foreign laws will give you a pass. Understand the Chinese people are not the CCP themselves. Do not mix their actions together. Do not disrespect their culture. They will not tolerate that. Remember you are a guest there.
As someone who downloaded RedNote, the majority of "TikTok refugees" I've seen are incredibly respectful. They've been asking for help understanding the rules of the app, they've been concerned about invading a Chinese space and becoming "colonizers," and they've even begun learning Mandarin to better understand those already on the app. Like sure, there are bad apples, but RedNote seems fast to act and those with infractions seem fast to learn (ie a creator got a post removed because it had their tiktok handle in the video since it was a repost, and the creator went "oops!" and told everyone else to not follow in their footsteps). I've also seen people helping each other with English homework, teaching silly phrases in Mandarin, and - most importantly - adhering to the cat tax. I think your concerns are valid, but I think the vast majority of TikTokers who have migrated there are the type of people who will respect the Chinese culture while we navigate this ~unprecedented~ time. As a bonus, RedNote's rules are inherently against the worst actors on TikTok, notably people who steal others' content, those who give damaging medical advice, those who push false information (flat earthers and raw milk advocates), and others. RedNote will catch those who are most disrespectful and yeet them anyways. Which I'm personally SO excited about. Doomscrolling has never been less annoying. Altho I do kinda miss the Reddit stories with Minecraft parkour in the background, especially TattleTale.
Something that really sucks about California's wildfires and all this destruction, is if you rebuild or build your buildings to be resistant to fires by not using wood, they become vulnerable to earthquakes which are also common in CA. And if you build to resist earthquakes, with wood, they become vulnerable to fires. We need to advance a lot in construction materials to find a good solution but sadly we just aren't even close to being there yet
the idiot who is claiming that fire insurance companies should be able to deny coverage or raise rates in a fire zone seems completely ignorant that CALIFORNIA IS A FIRE ZONE. insurance for profit is unethical.

My dad was a firefighter in So Cal. He texted me on Tuesday night to remind me it’s always better to leave early than too late especially with the population and roadways. Think about safety, for you, others, and the responders. 💙🧑🚒👩🚒👨🚒
Hello from Cali It's so windy today. I'm so afraid for LA. I'm in Riverside County, and i can see the smoke from here. This wind has been so fierce. I can not imagine the fear ppl must feel as embers blow all over. We've had fires here as well, but they've been able to control them so far.
Canada here we will forever be neighbour's but never neighbor's. I hope we will continue to help with the fire fighting effort especially as someone who spent years building parts for waterbombers. It's good to see our work helping our neighbour's.
Thanks Canada. It's embarrassing that we need your help after the orange douche talked all that shit but just know California never wanted anything to do with him. The US west coast appreciates you and would like to meet to discuss becoming a new Canadian province. 🤙
I wear a medical device that does very similar things to this new drug! I have severe nerve damage in my shoulder and have what’s called a PNS stimulator. It’s the same idea - interrupt the pain signal’s path before it can complete that cycle. It’s been absolutely life changing. While I’m not entirely pain free, I am now able to function with moderate pain when I used to be at an 8 or 9 on the pain scale every single day. If someone could have a similar experience without having all of the hardware I have inside my body, that would be absolutely game changing!
With all of the rebuilding in LA’s future, it would be awesome if there was something that could make these new homes both cheaper and more environmentally friendly. Architecture students compete to design that type of thing all the time. Maybe the big ten can get all of their architecture students to reach out to the land of their newest members and help out? I know university of Illinois usually does really well in those competitions.
@@Kordiana yes, but the real estate speculation is going to be bad enough that I don’t think it would be a good look to walk up to the single family homeowners and demand they rebuild as a duplex or better.
I really wish misinformation was punishable under the law. Cause people are likely to die in these moments of crisis and those peddling lies don’t care
I do wonder how bad it's going to need to get before we pass laws to reign in this nonsense. I doubt they ever will, we saw it this year in politics. People like Vance and Boebert getting upset about being "fact-checked". Plus all they have to do is say "Oh they're censoring us because they don't want the truth getting out!". The likely outcome is eventually they'll turn on each other and destroy themselves.
@ I was literally just expressing my sympathy to those in California. Wether you believe in religion or not, someone wanting to pray that a situation gets better is ultimately harmless and an act of good will. It’s weird that you think that warrants correction.
As a moderate sized TikToker, I'm fully pivoting to RUclips. I know it's going to be an uphill battle and not a lot of my followers are seeing the videos where I discuss the move, but I'm willing to start over again lol it's fun
I'm an Irishman, and I've been living in China since 2011, so clearly I'm satisfied with living here. I just wanted to point out that although "rednote" is an acceptable translation, the three Chinese characters are Xiao (Little) Hong (Red) Shu (Book), and that's how my Chinese friends say it when speaking English. I think it speaks volumes that so many in the U.S., especially in the government, are so "anti-China" and "anti-Communist", while so many more and perhaps even those same people are eagerly downloading an app named after Chairman Mao's Little Red Book, the handbook of the Cultural Revolution.
@@SprinkledFox Pros: Living in a city of 10 million, so there's excellent public transport, healthcare and education, as well as an abundance of high quality bars and restaurants serving cuisine from all over the world. High standard of living, my salary as an English teacher (first at a training center, currently at a university) is more than enough to support my family, so my wife is a stay-at-home mom, which is great for the kids. Helpful, friendly locals. I've picked up a functional amount of Mandarin since moving here, but I don't often use it, enough people speak English, especially in service jobs. Also, Chinese culture has a strong emphasis on welcoming foreigners, and so I'm often treated better than a local. Large, diverse expat community, so friends from all over the world, which has introduced me to lots of other cultures. Safe streets. I can walk alone anywhere in this or any city, 24 hours a day, without feeling nervous or having to be "on guard" beyond the common sense amount. Censorship of adult content. I'm personally ok with this, since it means that my 14 yo daughter is still a sweet teenager, and not trying to chase boys or sneak into clubs, etc. There isn't any sexualization of young women in advertising, music, social media, and so on, or what there is is a fraction of what exists in Ireland, U.K., and the rest of the West. Fast, reliable, comfortable affordable nationwide rail network. The express trains are genuinely world-class. Cons: The sense of security partly comes from the fact that murders, suicides, violent crime etc. are not covered in the media. Even traffic fatality statistics are difficult to find. So, is it safe, or does it just feel safe? The spitting! Oh god, the spitting! Noisy, prolonged throat clearing followed by a disgusting splat. #1 thing I would change if it was within my power to do so. I live in the N.E., and it's fair to say the people here are quite rude (esp. to each other). Littering, queue jumping, watching phone videos at high volume in public, public urination, not picking up after their dogs, and anything else you can imagine. It's not everyone, but it's at least 1/3 of the population, and considering how densely populated the city is, it's just a fact of life. Racism: The flip side of being treated as an "honoured guest". You will never be accepted as a local. My kids both grew up here, my daughter was less than 6 months old when we arrived, my son was born here, they attend public schools, and yet they will always be seen as "Laowai" (foreigners), due to how homogenous the population is. As a white European, I get treated well, but my black friends, whether American, African, West Indian and so on, often have difficulty finding apartments, jobs, romantic partners, etc. They can still do all these things, its just a LOT more difficult for them. Strict drug policy: This means that weed is really expensive, if/when you can find it. I've heard that meth is relatively cheap, but I just want to chill and play video games, not fry my brain and end up addicted. Also, if I fly to Thailand for a stoner holiday, I can be drug tested when re-entering China, and a positive result would mean a couple of weeks in jail, followed by losing my work visa and being deported. It happened to a BMW executive just a few months ago. They don't tolerate any kind of drugs except the taxable ones. Constant staring: Unless you live in Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen, you can expect to be a novelty wherever you go. My city has several thousand foreigners, but compared to 10m locals, we're still a fraction of a percent. Wow! I wasn't expecting to write that much! Hope it satisfies some of your curiosity. Also, these are entirely my own opinions, and thus highly subjective. I'd love to hear from other expats in China if they agree or disagree with me. TL;DR Pro: Safe big city living for a modest price Con: For me, there aren't any major cons, but the constant spitting is disgusting.
Of course prisoners have nothing but good things to say when there's nothing protecting them from extreme retaliation. Acting like being let out a bit early for risking their lives is a reward is horrific, the fact that their families are abandoned without any kind of compensation if they die just makes it so much worse.
Lmfao, no. Try that, and watch private landlords stop renting. If you can't afford rent, you definitely can't afford to buy. Nobody is obligated to give you a place to live. Especially not on land they own. If you have a trailer park income, you don't deserve to live in a luxury penthouse or a beach house. Learn to live according to your means, kids.
@@SkunkApe407 and maybe landlords just shouldn't price gouge. Why is it always the fault of the people being ripped off? Who is talking about living in a penthouse on a "trailer park income?" Or was the story about someone jacking up prices to take advantage of a horrible situation?
@@SkunkApe407 "landlords stop renting" so what? if all single family homes stopped being rented out you'd double the vacancies and now they have twice the property taxes to pay out
Unfortunately, that would likely lead to the massive rental management companies snapping up all the now-ownerless properties. We need to prevent corporations from further monopolizing housing. Price gouging becomes much less of an issue if there’s no collusion, and breaking up ownership helps a lot with that
@@SkunkApe407you know if they stop renting out the properties, they don’t make money? In fact they’ll lose money. Property taxes, utilities, maintenance, etc will be all out of the owners pockets. We’re not saying an average family of 4 should go into a 5bed 5 bath 4k square foot home for pennies. We’re saying that a 2bed 1bath 1,500sq ft apartment with no parking shouldn’t be $5k a month because the landlord can squeeze double out of the tenants.
As a 32 year old I've never once downloaded TikTok. I've never really had an Instagram or a Twitter or Snapchat or any of it. Just the ol' FB and I only really use it for messenger now. Most of my scrolling is done on RUclips cause I agree f*** reels. I feel far worse off and more upset when I watch reels in comparison to something like RUclips shorts. Regardless, honestly, I have never felt like I'm missing out on much, not having a TikTok.
To be honest, I have a deep frustration with California. When I see someone with California plates, I don’t automatically assume patriotism or integrity. Instead, I associate them with flashy cars like Challengers, BMWs, and Teslas symbols of a money driven mentality. It’s disheartening to admit that I feel little sympathy for the news about California fires. It’s sad because, at the end of the day, Californians are fellow Americans, shaped by the same red, white, and blue system as me. Living in Colorado, it’s infuriating to be forced to comply with California’s emissions standards. I strongly believe California lobbyists should focus on fixing issues within their own state rather than imposing burdens on others. They’ve created their own problems and should be held accountable for addressing them.

Finally someone said this! Pictures tell a thousand words and it will give them very few reasons to deny people.
Put you pictures and documents and pets in the car, get a cheap out of area rental and take a couple weeks off. My family did this during the wild fires in Oregon. Our home was spared and it was a big expense taking 2 weeks off work and such but, I can assure you, it was entirely worth it.
My insurance only covers 1000 in electronics and 5000 in jewlery
What claim? Most homes don’t have fire insurance.
When the punishment for unethically gaining money is only a fine, then that just becomes a business expense. A slap on the wrist will never sting for greedy people until it exceeds the amount they’ve earned.
Well there is also insurance so it might not be even an expense
I wonder if at this point 4hwy can just deduct it from their taxes.
unless the fine is a pretty good % of their earnings…. if they have a set number then it only effects small businesses, a percentage effects everyone the same
Fines should be income-based and also the crime.

Meanwhile in America the fire has been so politicized that I wouldn’t be surprised if some Europeans knew more than some Americans about the fire
Genuinely, the fact that the death toll is as low as it is so far is a miracle. Like, with fires this big, this persistent, this extreme, I would've expected a couple hundred dead, perhaps a few thousand injured. Stay safe yall

He told her to leave him and save herself. She refused but finally ran 400m down the road to find firefighters. By the time they got back to her property, the house was gone.
It is extra devastating that so many of the victims were the ones that deserved the most help.

Ah man I remember that garbage. And then the following summer they wanted us to not blast our AC because the power grid couldn't handle it. lol

LA is known as LaLa Land slow talking delusional never prepared for anything
The amount of pools they have only one resident so far used his pool and sprinklers to safe his home and a few neighbors home the rest just fled

After all, there are people who do "everything right" health-wise and still drop dead of a heart attack at 40. There are so many potential factors for various illnesses, including ones we don't know about or understand yet. It is extremely upsetting to me that the first thought I had regarding the size and location of the fires was: "Shit, Blackrock is going to come in and buy all this prime real estate once everything is said and done."
I've been thinking about this a lot this past week and I think it's just easier to blame (anything) instead of accepting we can't control nature.

Like, knowing that Ukrainian soldiers were watching the US election polls from their bunkers… I can’t imagine that thinking about his country’s future didn’t play at least a small part in Zelynsky’s decision to offer aid.
I know this happing is really really bad but Trump coming into office when after this happened is even worse.
I'd just like to remind everyone that oxys were also advertised as non-addicting.
These were the same promises we've heard before...
It’s amazing that foreign counties can put their anger aside and ready to send in support in the US for the fires considering the threats of war/tariffs against them from Trump. Truly shows kindness and charity crosses all borders

⚠️ CORRECTION: People on doctor prescribed and monitored long-term opioids ARE NOT considered "addicted" though we are considered "opioid dependent."
"Addiction" implies you are doing something you SHOULDN'T BE DOING because it's harmful and/or illegal.
Cosigned- by another chronic pain patient. I may nor may not have been yelling at phone on this segment.
@haileyoslund Buffalo!
I appreciate your thoughtful comment.
My comment was definitely inadequate, but I try to be brief in this setting. Something will always be left unsaid, unfortunately.
I strongly disagree with your definition of what an addiction is
@OverdramaticAngel
You're surely not the only unseen and unheard "yeller" when pain meds are discussed by the uninformed (or misinformed).
No
Americans are terrible guests. This will go poorly.
Wtf
Dude, Chinese people are cool. But. Ya'll can keep it. RUclips is the goat.

Hello from Cali
It's so windy today.

If they could change the zoning to include other options besides just single family dwellings that would be a huge improvement.
@@Kordiana yes, but the real estate speculation is going to be bad enough that I don’t think it would be a good look to walk up to the single family homeowners and demand they rebuild as a duplex or better.

What are the pros and cons of living in China?
@Panda42-ul5if That's awesome, thank you SO much for the detailed response. I really appreciate it 🙏💖

Of course prisoners have nothing but good things to say when there's nothing protecting them from extreme retaliation. Acting like being let out a bit early for risking their lives is a reward is horrific, the fact that their families are abandoned without any kind of compensation if they die just makes it so much worse.
Fun fact: The Constitution make slavery perfectly legal, if you're incarcerated.
Thanks News Daddy for the news
Simple way to block price gouging by landlords, punishment will be to lose property title with 0 compensation effective immediately.
@@SkunkApe407 "landlords stop renting"
so what?
if all single family homes stopped being rented out you'd double the vacancies and now they have twice the property taxes to pay out
Unfortunately, that would likely lead to the massive rental management companies snapping up all the now-ownerless properties.
The content there seems designed to stir you up or tear you down. Not all of it but most , and frankly I dont blame the creators i blame the platform.
Price gouging is theft, if I stole the same amount these gougers are I’d go to prison for a lot longer.
If you or I did it, it'd be called extortion.
