- I recently had the pleasure of staying at the most sumptuous castle hotel called Glenapp Castle, on the Ayrshire coast in Scotland. It was one of the most beautiful, classy hotels I've ever stayed in and I felt like a princess (or Duchess) whilst I was there. This is my video review which shows you what it's like to stay at the castle (gourmet food included) as well as the huge amount there is to do nearby. The suite brass name plate wasn't very clean was it not up to my standard 😥
I had no problem with the suite's name plate - everything in this hotel was spotless...
I agree. I also noticed the brass wasn’t shiny clean as you’d expect from a top place. It’s the little things like that which lets a place down.
Did the castle smell musty? …most castles usually do.
No it did NOT smell musty in the slightest!!!
Did you see puffins?
I was a couple of days too early for the puffins. I'd been HOPING to see them and they were due to arrive from their travels (I think this trip was either late March or early April) - but I was told by the person who took me to the island that the puffins arrived a couple of days later. I have SINCE seen puffins in the Shetland islands - I adore those cute birds!!

Sorry that ruined your enjoyment of the video. I blame my son who was filming a lot of it and, alas, didn't have much patience for retakes! It really is a gorgeous castle though...
If i am not going to a 5 star resort in the caribbean then the next place i want to be is staying in castle in the scottish highlands.
But it is SUCH a stunning castle and the Scottish Highlands are also stunning. Different to the Caribbean but still gorgeous - in a rugged beauty way!
And this is a VERY nice castle!!
Normal size bed and hotel room in the US. Not for a princess...
The size of the bed and room might be the same as the US, but remember this is a historic castle, so room sizes will be different. Also the decor/view/setting is VERY different to most hotels I've stayed in in the US...
