That's exactly how we prepare the chicken curry in Sri Lanka. Along with the ingredients stated we also add tamarind extract and pandan leaves. Thanks.
"Sri Lankan Chicken Curry - Authentic And Easy Chicken Curry Recipe - Smita" in itself is very telling that this is a Sri Lankan dish, so not sure why it should not have conformed to Sri Lankan methodology. Thus your comment is redundant.

When Smitha ma'am makes a video I don't feel like she's just making it for a show, feels so real like a friend teaching you cooking :) lovely recipe one of my favorites :) kudos ma'am, lot's of love.
Thanks for you made Sri Lankan chicken curry it is correct . I am a Sri Lankan and I like very much Sri Lankan curries also that’s are delicious . Next time try to make another Sri Lankan curries good luck.
Just made this and it tastes fantastic! The only change was adding a bit of lime juice at the end, to balance the richness and sweetness of the coconut milk.
Looks good but at 2:27, that doesn't look like lemongrass but rather pandan leaves. With Sri Lankan curries, I think both lemongrass and pandan leaves are used or are often used anyways. Nice job.
Hi. I have only canned coconut milk here in Japan. When you say adding thick coconut milk, will you recommend to separate it by putting it to refrigerator?
This is pretty much how my mom makes the chicken curry. Damn, I miss that so much! You nailed it. Also your Sinhala pronunciation when you said "kukul mas curry" was on point! 👌💯
Yes you do!! LOL! I knew this dish was going to be really hot when I saw the deep red color of the finished dish in the thumbnail picture. Lol! My guess was confirmed when she put the two or three tablespoons of chili powder in the marinade and then the three green chilies in the sauce. I haven't finished watching the video yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if she puts some other hot pepper in the dish before it's finished. I will try to make this delicious dish, but my version will be low heat. :-D
Stephanie Maybin yes ,u can add just 1 tsp of chilli powder and use the Kashmiri chilli powder to gain colour! All the best with the preparation , & enjoy !

Method for Sri Lankan Curry Powder: 1. Dry roast the coriander, cumin, fenugreek and fennel seeds in a frying pan over a low heat, stirring constantly. Do not allow to burn. 2. Cool and place the spices in a grinder with the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom and curry leaves. Blend to a fine powder. Store in an airtight container
always ask myself what they are doing with the hard spices in there at the end. Do they just pick them out before eating or can you somehow chew through it. Must be super annoying to dissect ur food for hard spices before eating
A Sri Lankan right here. We NEVER use paprika. And it's pandan leaves. Correct it next time❤ Edit: Another thing, we usually add water before coconut milk and let it boil, after that we add coconut milk or often we don't add coconut milk. Still it's to die for😍😍
everything was ok except for paprika. Paprika has no place in Sri Lankan cuisine because the curry can become bitter if you use it. It's more like a garnishing spice. Better use kashmiri chili powder instead of it if you want less spiciness and a hint of sweetness.

Sayani Basu in Sri Lankan the authentic name is Rampay , we never refer to it as pandan leaf which is a name used By Chinese origin countries .
