My lessons are FREE, but I would appreciate a small donation from those who use them regularly -- $5 to $10. That's a one-time payment that will help cover the costs of my spending time on this instead of giving regular lessons - that would cost you a LOT more. I cannot continue doing these free lessons without it paying off a little. Thanks!

Thanks to all of you who have donated so far!
Keith Richards had been searching for years how to play that Jimmy Reed V chord ,, "a haunting sound" as he says,,, to me ,,is the combination of this minimalistic sound and his particular way of singing,, effortless,,the reason that made Jimmy one of the greatest amongst the blues scene..
you are such a good teacher! I love the jimmy reed and John Lee hooker lessons. You really taught me blues guitar singlehandedly! thank you
Thanks! I love this music and love playing guitar. I'm glad to share it with others .
Old School Blues Guitar you're welcome! I love all the old blues too. If I am looking to find a lesson on some relatively obscure blues musician, you always have them.
Old School Blues Guitar 😯
What about walking bass ie. in ( I ) walk the 6th str. with ring & pinkie on 3&4 fret then ring finger on 4fret & so on for IV hope I said it OK, loved the V in the 5 str. never saw before ! I like your teaching style, no e of that wise ass punk shit little hot shots trying to school ya.😯 Ciao
so much instruction for such an easy riff, complete beginners included.
A lot of guys say "oh, that's easy," but yet when they play it, it doesn't sound at all like the original recording. There is a lot of subtle stuff going on that most people miss because of that kind of attitude. If I had a dime for every person I've met who dismissed the Jimmy Reed shuffle as being "easy" and then could not play it properly, I'd have a lot of dimes. A lot........... of dimes.
Old School Blues Guitar ..your so right. No disrespect at all...Thanks for doing these videos. 👍🏻
No offense taken. IT sounds so easy, but it's not really that easy. If you listen to all the Jimmy Reed shuffles back to back, you will hear subtle differences in each - often within each verse of each song. Thanks!
thanks thanks thanks for the great lesson on Jimmy's style
Love that 'lazy 5' sound!
Excellent
What’s that hammer like move on each 1 beat?
thanks, good lesson.
Huzzah! This fella gets the V chord correctly. 99% of those pretending to teach Jimmy Reed get it wrong.
Thanks! It's one of those many little, subtle, mindfu$%s that you find all over the place in this music. Trust me, I get a lot of things wrong
It took me a while to hear it and figure it out. Thanks!
I like the open raspy sound of your guitar. What strings do you have on there (type and gauges)?
+lightninstrikes II use D'addario, nickel wound, blues/jazz strings with an .11 on the high E. I'll have to check the other gauges for you later and reply. Thanks!
+Old School Blues Guitar Thanks do much for your quick reply will try those 11's on my emperor regent, they now have 12's, might open up the sound and make it more electric.
Let me know how it goes. The one thing I don't like about the Emperor II is the low E string. I had to adjust the pickups to get it to sound the way I wanted. It was really "bassy" - to much so. Otherwise, I love the guitar.
What would be the name of that deliciously beautiful musical device you were picking so amazingly on? I'm not to familiar with instruments quite yet.
