Would You Ride in a Driverless Taxi?

- Two-hundred-and-forty driverless taxis have hit the streets of San Francisco. They’re part of a company called Cruise, owned by Detroit-based manufacturer, General Motors. The cars are deployed by an app, and unlike competitors Uber and Lyft, Cruise cars are only available at night. Just like a regular taxi, the cost of a Cruise ride depends on how far you go. Prices start at a base rate of $5, then tack on a $0.90 per mile and $0.40 per-minute rate.
Let me guess, they still ask for a tip?
But what happens when someone hacks the Cruise car and takes you to a different destination?
What if someone hacks the car you already drive and force it to stop while your driving on the freeway? That's actually something that can be done
That’s like saying what happens when someone hacks your computer. Bad stuff but the good the product does heavily outweighs the bad.
@@spol Computer can't kill you.
@reapertown9267 The first is a far more plausible scenario.
@@spolno it's not the same at all. You aren't physically in danger and far from any help with a hacked computer. Very poor analogy I'm afraid. Better luck next time.
I'd be too cautious and scared
I’d rather walk
The real question is would you piggy back ride a taxiless driver?
Can you imagine the look on a carjacker's face when he attempts to carjack one of these bad boys? 😂😂
Or can you imagine not having a problem getting a taxi because of your race
Carjacker is gonna end up being kidnapped LOL
Yes I see myself using the driverless taxi in the future safer than most drivers out here today
until people start hacking them

What percentage of driverless cars have had accidents compared to the percentage of people- driven cars?
Its a great system and new concept to be introduced to the nation, makes being a passenger feel safer and you can also control the music, temperature and more. I love it
Will you love the economic ripple effect of the jobless?
@@ElectricVehiclesAreGoodF-ti7xd unfortunately over the past years drivers have caused accidents, death, drug use and all sorts of other things, remember the #1 cause of death is by cars, imagine that being reduced in half with less drivers?

Putting taxi drivers out of business one of many more to come
I'll wait 50 years. 😂
hell no
Do I trust technology with my own life? Hell no lol,not yet anyway
They should do some tests on a mock intersection or highway. And see how the car reacts to driver unpredictability. Or even a car trying to hit it.
The company has. That’s the reason the car is safer then most humans it can react faster then most humans and take in more information and as the technology gets better the amount of crashes will become smaller.
@@Xmanopn9 thats awesome. Perhaps in the future the size of the sensors and cameras could he reduced while maintaining efficiency
They have in crazy San Francisco, and phoenix and Austin. They have glitches sin the system, the cars stop on its own in the middle of the streets, cause blockage of the roadway, able to be hit from any side, with or without people inside. Cruise know this, but lies to the public that it's just a automated response from the car if it seems like ther right be.a emergency issue with people in front of it. How can it be people if it's another car in front of it also? I wouldn't be inside the at all !!
You don't think they did when they invented this
Well I'm guessing it's the new wave of the future but I would be terrified🤔
I predicted driverless cars 2 decades ago. No surprise
Yep, cool seeing auto driving cars and I don’t gotta talk to anyone
Trust me I'm gonna become a driver. I hope I don't have to talk to people. Good drivers ain't talk to you if you don't talk to them.
Don't get out of the house much huh?
@@VonHohenstaufen nope never
Driverless Taxis might end up failing without the driver.
They sound so good but about a week ago one of them almost slammed (exaggerated) into another car... I am never going on one
Ther goes taxi drivers jobs
IT'S A ROBOT CAR!
Wondering if the driverless taxi has a license to drive,lol😅...
my mom freaks out when she sees these 😂 funniest shii ever
I am going to start my own driverless car company and call it Johnny Cab.
It’s happening isn’t it? It’s really happening! I’m both excited and terrified!
Bro imagine saying ayo taxi but then Siri’s voice just pops up
In greece there was a driverless bus that fell into the river. This was years ago but i wouldn't want to be at that bus
Here goes our jobs. Sooner or later we will all be jobless
They took our jerbs!!!
Yes but the only thing im scared of is they could easily be hacked
The company is taking a HUGE responsibility with these. When, not if, the computer breaks (and yes, electronics ALWAYS break) and it hurls people into the river or drives into a brick wall (like a Tesla did). Let hope thieves haven’t figured out how easy they would be to manipulate simply by blocking its path and robbing the occupants. It’s a machine. It’s doesn’t know what a threat is. It won’t know to put your hand over your eyes, hit the gas and whatever happens, happens as long as you can escape.
Yall need to sue at every turn.
Well well well
Only if I could be a character in the Black Mirror episode on this concept.
The Taxi Drivers: "THEY TOOK ER JOBSSSS!!!!"
I definitely wouldn't use it as mechanical faults and failures could happen without you realising it. If there's a flat tire, who's going to change it ? The passenger ?
They likely have run flat tyres, on which you can drive...
Only if it’s not from Hyundai or Kia due to safety reasons.
Big mistake trusting a computer with your life! And soon we will hear the tragedies! 🤨
I'll take my chances with the bot than a human driver have you seen those guys drive here recently
Can you imagine computer failure and you get locked inside omg,it's not for me...
@@cherylt8590 could you imagine your human driver being on some type of drugs having a heart attack or seizure behind-the-wheel I'll take my chances with the computer
@@cherylt8590 Unbelievable really, can you imagine the computer wants to run a red light! 😳😳
@@lan5142 lol...
It’s all fun until one taxi shouts “BEEP BEEP MOTHERF**KER!!”
No, don't let A.I. replace humans in their own country that our ancestors built.
Idk man, it can be done moderately without replacing too much.
A.I. is supposed to be making jobs easier, not taking away jobs
A robber’s wet dream 🥳
Which model and make of car???
So if the car was speeding who gets the ticket the passenger or the owner of the car ?
DRIVELESS TAXI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No. But I don't visit the crime imfested city of San Francisco.
so even tho half of the accidents happen at night they insist it’s an ideal fit
i’ve seen them during the day…
San fransico?!! I saw these today. Too afraid to ride one.
Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale maybe?
Hell no.
with enough testing and an established taxi being available then sure
Can it be stolen?
Introverts dream
I've seen these cars in phoenix
Yes I would use
If they ever bring them into my country I'm going to take free rides and flee without paying
That is a whole lot of NOP
In a Waymo yes, have been in one several times. Waymo has been working at this far longer than Cruise. In a Cruise no definitely not. I’ve been a Test Operator. The Cruise technology is not at the level of Waymo.
I am not comfortable riding a driverless car. Someone would hack the computer system!
I know you're probably under the age of 13 but we don't live in watchdogs.
they kinda late 😂 Shanghai already have this for like a while
Do you tip?
Hope there is UBI planned for all the jobs this is going to take. Transportation employs the most people.
I wouldn't but I'm an old dog. My grandkids would love to ride in one.
Somebody gunna steal one lol
I cant even trust myself to drive properly.. much less that so thats a no
no
No very unsafe to get ride 😂
It’s more unsafe for drivers to be driving taxis tbh
Not true
No
As long as I'm behind the wheel. I drive.
The basics of AI technology has finally started
What if it's anything like Tesla though? I've seen videos of some people crash in them.
Yes ! sounds fun fsf
Unless you want the car to stop automatically causing a huge traffic jam
They should be taxed 3x as much as the average worker to really give back to society.
For some reason it looks awesome and safer than a car with a humon ❤

Why don't you make public transport better first instead of self-driving cars...
Nope.
nope
You would think that they would charge much less money to get the frightened public willing to give it a chance.
Hell...NO!
Those that say no: 🗿
Bad idea, the car has limited technology and is prone to stopping in the streets at any moment, blocking the road or intersection, if it has people in it, and gets hit from any side, is a road hazard, and set for lawsuit by the passengers. It still has glitches in its system, the techis just not there yet. Even tesla can't figure it out. They stop alot Herr in Austin, have been Ina coule of wrecks, bug issue for the police trying to digure out who was at fault the robot car or a actual person??!
Inside Edition lied. I see these things work at day
No.
No, I've seen Upload.
I don’t even trust riding in Teslas.
Is someone (a human being/person) controlling/driving the car remotely????? Or is the car TRULY driving by itself by ai is it's claimed?
It's programmed by GPS and navigational devices input by humans
Heck NO
I wanted to scream at the 20 something Asian couple I seen last night. Stop supporting them! Why arent you calling an Uber or Lyft?
New ways to increase profits.....
Only if I can tip the driver ☠️
What happen if a carjacker tries to steal the car?
I got blown jobbed in one
Absolutely... none of you know how to drive.. have you seen yourselves out there.. driving test must be a multiple choice mail in test now
But again I’m still worry to those stupid rubbery people who will start to break the windows, n stealing it. Wish it should b in queens NYC, not in Manhattan NYC.
boeng 737 max nose dived because of a computer error im sure that it will take a few cathostropic accidents with innocent lives lost before they perfect this Driverless car.
I'm an Uber Driver, so I'm going to give this a dislike. Technology looks good, though. Keep up the good work.
The newest feature is it automatically converts into a coffin when needed.
No I don't think so I'd rather have a human driver just to talk to me
Who invented cars
There is someone its your dad
this makes sense.... they should put a psychologist robot ai implented in the car incase someone tries to steal a car without a driver lol... the theif can rethink if a robot can use its algrothim to talk to the theif into rethinking and give it all the consequences , if he were to conitinue :)
