the M in STEM actually stands for Mathematics (and not Medicine) 🤦♀️ Complete silly mistake that I let slip during filming and editing
Hi Claudia!
Following your guidance all the way.😇
I am going to take admission in Queen Mary this September. Could you please review the QMUL Business Management, especially how is it valued by the employers and what median salary should I expect within how much time after graduation?
Thanks for commenting, Another great investment scheme in which you can never go wrong with is bitcoin exchange with my administrative Mr Washington Thomas.
I guess medicine comes under science so don’t fear future Doctors you can still claim the STEM badge
This is the kinda Dumb shit a biz major would make
I'm kidding no offence it was right there
I always thought when I was younger business was always about math and a math based major. I thought more math was going to be involved in it. That’s why I never took business as my major.
I choose business and management degree because I have no idea what i want to do. Now years later, I still have no idea what I want to do.
@Jenjen K The exact same thing happened to me here lmao
The exact same thing happened to me here lmao. As for I know, I would like to pick a major which allows me to work/sit in an office with AC in summer and heat in winter. Next, the major allows me to learn something related to business trading because maybe I can create my own business in the future.

i will tell you now what you should do since you choose business management and that is study hard study really really hard focus in your study's because this is the key of your success and happiness i know is hard but when you do that you will see your self as a big winner everything and everyone will betray you that not the knowledge because the knowledge will make you wise also will give you skills and then you will find a good job in a big company and you will get a big salary and also you will be famous because you will became a skilful person is hard to do that also you gonna feel tired and you will want to give up but you shouldn't give up this is what i would like to do but is hard. I want to tell you a story of my last year of the college in Greece i did study really hard 4 hours after school every day and some subjects i knew it better from the teacher i had some knowledge and in every test i was the best when my class mates ask the teacher about something in the subject the teacher told to my class mate to ask me i want to tell you that it feels good having knowledge
Saaaaammmmmmeeeeee HAHAHHAHA 😔

Studying Business isn’t about only opening a business.
It’s true, you can learn lots of stuff about Business without the degree. However, don’t underestimate it, there’s a lot of things you can’t google, Business can be very hard and having the degree is completely worth it.
Business can easily get you money because of the skills you have that you studied in uni, it depends on the place/skills you’ve got, if you work hard, you put things into your mind, you can easily achieve them.
The last 2 points shouldn’t be a thing tbh, you meet ugly people everywhere, these people you’ll encounter in your life a lot, especially during work, and in every other major as well.
Too many students are entering business? Half of the world is majoring in medicine. ?!! It’s what people are passionate about. The more the people doesn’t make ur major bad.
The fact she said ugly people were a negative to her just proves she’s dumb
@Sonic Hedgehog I don’t think they meant it Litterally. And it’s kinda true almost everyone of my friends and people that I’ve met are in the medical field while I’m trying to do business.
@@hiraali2917 true actually

yes, it depends on the person. If you have basic business knowledge then leave it, if you have not lean it with Giving money to the university. At end of the days, people will judge you by your skill and experience.
Business management is not for everyone. Especially her lol. You take Business if you are an entrepreneur and have major goals to run your own shit and be your own boss. It's also not all about having the degree, you have to have the right attitude for it. Not everyone will succeed bit it's a good career path to take.
Here in the US, business majors are really attractive to employers and are one of the best majors.
Depends on what type of business degree

Learning by yourself just some basic courses, won’t open the same doors as a degree obtain at university. I am studying Global Business and I can’t complain. It definitely fits my future goals. I could be stuck in an office on a low paid starter job waiting to progress (IF I DO) while some younger person comes along after University and gets the job that someone without a proper degree is fighting to get. And also, once you are promoted, they will still ask you to do some course to have a legal foundation for it. And the University degree can open that door immediately. Now if you want to open a business that has an international target, it will also help to have this type of degree. There are many pros to this course
I’m late to the party but just found your channel. I have a business undergrad and MBA. I work in Japan as a Finance consultant. Business degrees are still very essential for organizational development and resource management. Depending on your industry you can get certs in things your career specializes in that are more specific and marketable than some STEM degrees. Also, I don’t know your experience with straight white males but it seems a little wrong to judge someone based on their money, race, gender, and sexual orientation rather than how they behave and treat other people. This video is still getting a thumbs up from me though LOL.
Hey that's great, would you mind sharing how you did that though?
If you don’t mind me asking where did you study and what advice would you give to someone who’s studying buisness management and marketing
@@bsyxbxpxd_2713 I went to state schools in the United States. Park U in Missouri for my Undergrad, University of Maryland for my MBA. In addition to my school, I also gained a lot of experience in my US Air Force career. If you are a business student, my advice would be to get as much exposure as you can to different industries so you know what you want to do when you graduate. Also, make yourself an expert on something like a Database language for example i.e. Python. Or become an expert on something like Excel. Make the most of your time as a student to explore and define where you want to take your career.

@@athena679 Business is not interesting for everyone. Some of the classes are boring. But a lot were engaging and interesting. What is it you want to do and would a business degree help that? Business classes focus on organizational development, finance and accounting, marketing, and strategy. I took classes on online and social media marketing and that was one of my favorite
Classes in undergrad.
So a kid straight out of high school can get into banking right away. Ha yeah right, the degree is meant to open the door. Unfortunately that’s the way it works
You don’t need a degree to do anything. It’s just required or it’s not. No matter what career you choose, 90 percent of the useful info you learn will be on the job.
There WAS a time, back through the 80s, and into about the mid 90s, where one could actually land a middle management position in a corporate office at around $40K-$50K to start, and NOT necessarily have to major in business or accounting... Many then would acquire "Easy Breezy" type majors, such as Psychology (first four years only), Marketing, Liberal Arts, Philosophy, even the new (at that time) "Gender Studies"... With these majors at hand, students then could still party, breeze through the curriculum, graduate with a halfway decent GPA, and land a job in a business office environment somewhere with a very good starting salary... The thing was that companies then didn't really care WHAT you majored in, just so long as you had a degree, and knew just enough to be "promotable"! That all ended in the late 90s when companies decided to drastically downsize (and offshore and outsource) because they started to discover "there were too many Chiefs, and not enough Indians"... Many college admissions STILL have this 80s "the sky's the limit" attitude and will convince the potential student that whatever choice they make is an excellent one, and that they "can and will" make their ROI in just a few years! As we see, this is NOT the case, but you've already signed on the dotted line!
Unfortunately, I can't get a job without a degree. Experience doesn't matter to employers, as long as you have a degree in magical arts, you will be considered for the position over someone without a degree
Facts
In the US business degrees are still the highest paying undergraduate degrees.
Lmfao that’s a straight up lie, stem degrees are better in every single way

@@lmboca3458not everyone has the work ethic/ interest or iq to be an engineer
In my opinion it really depends on the subjects you’re studying within your business degree. Ofc things like management theories, accounting 101, consumer behavior, some basic economics you can learn by yourself if you want it’s not very hard. However, if you choose to concentrate in finance for example, then this kind of knowledge would be quite hard to sustainably learn outside of class. Or if you concentrate in econ, I doubt you would have learned even basic econometrics outside of class just for fun. Overall, it’s possible to learn anything by yourself, we can then say that the CS major is useless, law major is useless, ohhh and all the humanities also cause what stops you from reading history books by yourself and taking coding classes online.
I mean, what I don’t like about a business degree, is that it is really ambiguous and you need to actually dive deeper into what each person studied cause 2 business degrees even from the same uni (even from the same course - speaking out of my personal experience) aren’t equal.
nothing is IMPOSSIBLE my dear . its just some people fear to walk . just follow your passion and grab hold of it. remember no one else can make you successful . its only you

Years ago maybe worth it. However we live in a time where the world is more connected and rapidly changing. Businesses are based on products or services which is why its better to learn something like say Chemistry/Med or Programming. From there get a basic business book to start a tech or biotech startup.
I wish this video was made several years ago. I would’ve gone with another course. I graduated in BBA last year and still can’t find a job (im not picky when it comes to what jobs i get and is actively applying for jobs). I realised that i only took this degree because 1. It was the most affordable 2. It’s easy 3. My friends were taking the course 4. No alternative option aside from Accounting & Finance (which i was in before this). After being unemployed for almost one year after i graduated, I can totally say that a business degree isn’t the smartest move for me as an introverted individual who doesn’t have the best self esteem and have a difficult time networking with people. Also keep in mind the students in my college mainly went to college because their parents wants them to get a degree 😅
Don't lose hope! There are so many pros to business (I just uploaded a video about it!) and if you can definitely leverage your degree to break into the job market. It's extra hard this year due to the pandemic freezing headcounts, but it's definitely still doable. You got this!
Show I ho through with this degree? I'm a introvert too and now I'm starting to have doubts.
So should I*
why don't you learn more about ways to work on your self esteem? if that's the main issue.
funny guy
I have to say that the 5th reason shouldn't have been a reason at all. I hate when people say things like that. It's like saying, don't start a business because there's a lot of businesses out there. Yes, it might be a lot of businesses and business majors out there, but there are also a lot of business related jobs and if your not starting the business just to make money, your business will eventually start to grow.
As much as I'd like to just learn things on my own, unfortunately I need a legit certificate from a college/institution to actually get a job. It's pretty hard for me to find a job with no proof on paper. A company won't just take my word for it. A business degree is affordable and more useful for me personally. Everything has pros and cons.
This is very uk specific. Here in the US business majors make a lot of money.
Plus she didn't mention other countries just UK

I am half way into your video I agree and disagree with you but here in the U.S. having a Business degree helps you get a high paying business jobs and some like the fact that you are more advanced of having more skills than ppl who don't have a business degree. Some business may be a waste of time if the business doesn't care if you have a business degree or not. I personally want a Business degree I am currently going back to college in the Fall to continue to get my Business administration degree I want to own my own company. Also it will help me to get a better paying job I am tired working for less and I want to start working for high paying company and branch off into having my company. It does depends on where you live of the business market of what the demands on business jobs and the pay.
Exactly!!! 👏👏👏

I beg to differ from her,If you are going to business as a degree you,you are wrong. There are thousands and thousands option in business, and management just gives you a brief overview as to what the business do.If you are going to talk about niche topics like, accounting, acturial science and economics degree in General only then it will be fruitfut. One thing is would like to mention is that I'm from India and meaning of business might be different than the one in UK.If you are gonna be investment banker,we are adviced to learn data science, and heavy math skills. The reason why it is uncommon because our degree doesnt allow us to do so,the enginnering math is very very different from a bsc mathematics degree from Delhi University and majority of us business students don't know how to think in terms of math, even always know like you said a lot about the markets and sometimes were not even adding a value to the company. And even in that there is different type of math. For example in accounting you may use arthemetics more,in statistics you tend you use more probality or bionomial theorem. The reason why I think recruiters tend to prefer Engineer or Medicine students is because they trust their degree."transferability of skills" being the right term.I won't lie,it does put us into a disadvantage,as unless and untill you don't wanna go into core accounting, business may or may not work out for you.Financial mathematics is one such degree that anybody can do,but again because I live India and because of LETHAL COMPETITION,it has put us business students into disadvantage as there are IITians for computer science background sitting with acceptance rate of mere 0.00047 percent, chances of being placed in those degrees is close to imposibble as there is an "eligibility criteria" to these degrees to gain one india.
Folks just remember one thing
The scope does not depend upon the degree or profession. It depends upon you so work hard
I chose business cause I wanted to. I didn't take it cause it was easy or cause I didn't know wat to do, and I don't mind dealing with douchy people cause everyone has to deal with atleast a few of them in their life. And yes u don't need to have a bizz degree to do business but at the same time y do u need other courses when u want to do business? Opt for business if u r interested in doing so, don't choose business if u "don't know wat to take" or "cause it's easy"
This hurts to watch. I just switched from accounting to business management because accounting is getting too tough. Might just do finance. Idek..

I am enrolled in BBA and we have very useful units that could help people avoid mistakes in business.
this was a very useful video but I think it also depends on the area you live in and the content they teach at uni for e.g Analytic economics, applied contract law etc.
what you said about learning yourself is 100% true. whatever Ive learnt so far on marketing is all youtube.

Really sweeping generalised statements! Many graduates from other disciplines in UK struggle to get paid jobs anyways. At least Business graduates can get into many areas and are not limited. If you regret doing business degree then why did you do a Masters in it!? And the M in STEM stands for Maths. Medicine already comes under Science.

@Sea umm what do you merry by International relations?😅sorry I didn’t get it , but thank you for the options that you gave me 😊
@Sea ohhhhhh Now I get it , thank you for the explanation 😅
I am also in your position XD. I want to do either global business or economics
Thank you for sharing, let me give you my insight, so you have another point of view.
1) Your MiM degree is not comparable to an MBA.
2) The career centers of most European universities do not do “business” (excluding INSEAD). They only do “administrative” work. Unlike US Business Schools, where their job is to ensure students who pay a lot of money will get the highest possible returns.
So, I recommend also hearing from those who graduated with MBAs from Top-15 US Business Schools in the US to find out why you should or shouldn't get a business degree.
In the US if you are considering business as a degree and feeling confused by vids like this, just know that being raised buying items at the store in no way prepares you for how to do accounting, analytics, the finer points of finance, economics, applied statistics, or business law. It doesn't build your skills, opportunities, and network like a degree. It doesn't teach you what truly effective marketing looks like or metrics or intricate corporate structure and product management. And let's not forget the computer side of things. Lots of these subjects are far too broad and complex for the average person to just "look up on the internet." You won't get the perspective you gain in a classroom, either.
I agree that if you aren't serious about business, maybe you shouldn't pick it as a degree. But a business degree is so foundational I have a hard time believing anyone who really got one would be able to say "I could've looked up all those four years on google." Without doing it first, you don't even know what you need to know! No job is going to hire you for a job requiring a business degree on the basis that you were raised capitalist.
I was thinking of doing the course because I want to start my own business.
I m still young to tell my opinion because I don't have a real experience but starting a business without studying business it can be hard .I feel that business degrees can show a lot of experience in business world so will not wast time on taking risk .my dad didn't study business and he took 30 year to run a successful one . But my brother did study it and he have more experience then my dad . This is what I think

you can get into a consulting job with an engineering degree! I think it'll depend most on your work experience
Why am I watching this video. I m already studying business management. My thought is just to drop this business management. And 3 years down while I will seek registration fees for other course that is better than this!
Its your own fault for not looking in to what you would be studying first with Open University they give you loads of options to pick from. You do need a buissness degree to get in to work in finance or open your own finance company. You don't need it if your going to work for a company and want to start on flat rate wage for not having any qualifications.
Ngl I'm studying business management at the open university UK I'm just doing that to have a degree so that it can help me get hired faster
Agree with what she says. Business degrees teach superficial stuff, things you pick up in a book. If you are smart, studying such things makes you get "dumbed down"
Its very interesting, the salaries for US business positions are much higher
Yes, that's true. Salaries in the US are higher than the UK in general

im an incoming college student for the next academic year but planning to take a finance major. as to what cloud said on her video about the pros of business degree, the program is broad that leads to some who doesnt know what to take for college. but studying business related subjects are not easy at all, as an individual you should have the confidence because you'll be communicating to different types of people, presenting reports in front of many audience (i.e. business plan, marketing plan, pre feasibility study, etc.)
idk if this helps :(( but yeah learning business is fun because you could deeply comprehend the things that are happening around you/us in terms of money, marketing, and many more.
Hi Ryzah, have you thougth about doing some job shodowing before choosing your degree?Talk to other professionals about their jobs and their majors, this can help you find out more about the possibilities out there
me a ABM student right now did I really messed up? I actually plan to take International Business and international business law but this whole video makes me rethink my decision in life😭
Me watching this video in my 2nd year of studying business degree!
Still not understanding anything!
Just blame the pandemic 😑corona
No, way I would have been able to learn accounting on my own.
I guess she only means business management
Here is the thing,I have already tried mechanical engineering and now i am trying computer science,i'm an international student & my dad wants me to major in either of these careers. He looks at Management as an easy and useless major so I am not sure what I should do at this point
Which one are u good at. He isn't lying
Some people choose business not because it is a path that will easily lead them to wealth, but rather because they believe that one day they will feel worthless or uninspired by their work and that instead of hiring a professional Business chuchu, they will build a business on their own because they already know how to run a business. So why waste time getting into a sector you already knew was a waste of time when you can establish a business while studying business?
Well this is my level of understanding. And I decided to take a shift and take a business because I wanted to build on my own, well when you have a business you can be a boss on your own moreover you can handle your time.
Some successful people succeed because they invent a thing that is useful to everyone.
Just a simply research into “HR jobs” just told me this girl doesn’t really know what she’s talking about… £19k is far from the salary
So far, number one isn’t necessarily a con because all college degrees really have some kind of unnecessary load onto it (can be null options), it’s a systematic structure setup for debt and profits. Yet, since we’re the ones in need, we become educated. And that’s the formation of becoming allegedly professionalized. In short, it is what it is. Anything for the paper (diploma/s) & for the bag (job security: hopefully). | Of course everyone who’s with a true personality, has their own positive dreams and reasons behind choosing (especially to help out loved ones and leave a meaningful legacy) But it’s just also fact in the end of the day, is what I mean.
The M in STEM is Maths... not Medicine xD
OMG I did not even notice this mistake! Yes you are absolutely right, my bad 😫
thanks for being transparent with your points
There’s 5 reasons you shouldn’t study every degree. However, there’s reason you should as well.
Please, I need recommendations on technical related courses an economics graduate can take for masters. Thank you.
The degree don't have to be what makes person rich, it's what you do with the money more.
Already i have been study a bussniss management for two years😪 but tomorrow i Will begin year 3 but i have a choice for the other 2 years Will you advise to be an accountant ?
Watching your video from Switzerland . Very interesting video.
So you have 1 video telling us why we shouldn't study business and another 1 video telling us why we should study business. Ok im confused 😕
Everything has two sides, as well as pros and cons! I just want to provide both the good and the bad to give people a holistic perspective of this course so they can make the most informed decisions.
@@cloudsjoo What sounds harder to your ears? 1. Masters Degree in Mathematics or 2. Masters Degree in Statistics?
I graduated high school last year but i took a year off just bcz i didn't rlly know what iam passionate about and after finally deciding to choose business in uni ...this video comes in my recommendation 🌚🌚already tired of overthinking and now I may reconsider my life decisions
Literally going into a mental breakdown💀💀
Are you suggesting that you should of done a medical degree because you can’t google it very easily?
I just learning 8 question business management and marketing manager course online
This is so helpful, this has made me evaluate my decision and I feel way more informed
I love Management degrees, but it alone is waste of the time. Take part of it marketing or fiance example for. There's even more options additionally.
here in Egypt, Business major is considered a worthless degree, you can't even find a job with it, and Egyptians call it the people's major because literally everyone who fails in high school major in it. in college they don't teach us anything useful the professor go in the lecture and just read you some slides.
U'R CONCEPTUALLY & TOTALLY WRONG! Business degree is very essential since business industries is always on demand! Having business degrees can equip u many jobs! U can be a teacher, manager, representative and much more! U just need proper mindset. People don't be discourage hehe
Haven't best jobs vacancies for the Business Management Degree ? 🙄
Basics in analytical skills are not hard to acquire though! Studying economics and business gives some perspective on society on the economics level which is great to start off depending on your background…
I studied economics and then business…
Do you think someone who have no prior knowledge of math can major in business administration!? Or ( The math you can acquire it while studying )
well now i am motivated to not go to college
i love your video! i finally undershtand now! haha
much love
Thanks for commenting, Another great investment scheme in which you can never go wrong with is bitcoin exchange with my administrative Mr Washington Thomas.
One thing you did not mention is that a lot of my business classes were older students complaining about their jobs in class and the professors complaining about their jobs and other students. Yes, you will pay 10s of thousands of dollars to hear a lot of complaining which is depressing and useless. Because the of subject matter being about jobs and money, you will encounter this more in a business class than in a math, English, chemistry, or history class
Hello, you are true, However if you study business management you can make new friends from another country and you can have access to willpower and strong knowledge
Can you tell us what was your first job salary was like after lbs MIM ?
I studied 4 years business, got a first class degree and can confirm that it is absolutely useless! All the effort, time everything has gone to waste. the job iv been doing for the past 6 months, I could have very easily got without my degree.
Edit: I exaggerated a bit too much y’all. You can make a business major useful if you get experience within a certain market or industry. Business major + experience and skill within a certain market = leadership roles
Hello! I’m currently a freshmen majoring in Business Management! If it’s okay with you, can you please go into detail about why it didn’t work out for you?
@@sandybasaka6007 i think one of the main reasons why it didn’t work out for me was because I failed to get experience. If I could do it all over again, I’d study and at the same time somehow get experience within a certain market or industry. eg if you want to get into banking. Get a summer job or something as a banking intern or whatever. Basically whilst doing your degree, get experience too. you can make ur degree useful, just make sure to get experience aswell. And decide early on what industry you want to get into too. do a tone of research
@@sandybasaka6007 yeah I think exaggerated a bit too much with my original comment. Don’t be demotivated by me. Your degree can be useful. Just get experience. And make sure to specialise in a certain market or industry
@@wafflinglad Thank you for the advice! I was so scared that it might all be useless 🥲 I like the major a lot so hopefully I can get a position with it somewhere
@@sandybasaka6007 just remember to get as much experience in a certain field as possible... you can make ur business major really useful
For me it's not the degree but the person that is the difference between a successful career, an average one or none at all. Certainly helps if you pick a degree wisely though, no one wants to take on a £50K debt lightly.
Thanks Clouds. You're a Star.
I agree. Came up with the same points in your conclusion.
7:46 The second highest oayit job- Economics, isn't it a business degree?
Stem is overrated. In fact, in some stem major, math(quantitative skills) is not as much as people thought. For example, chemistry, medicine, even physics. Instead, in a good business program, quantitative business analytics are well developed and directly designed for the market demand, for example, financial engineering, etc. Business major should be confident that you have the right skills, as long as your curriculum is well developed.
STEM majors in which S (science) is the weakest part
But Business management has concentrations. So take business management, but concentrate on something. So study BM with a concentration on management, public admin, marketing, stocks, etc. I think you were led wrong.
Is it possible to work in a company even if you just graduated with an education degree and not in business management or related courses in business?
Is the 18k annually? That's very low. Most entery level sales position in Canada starts around 40~50K.
I’m really torn between my major for BBA. I initially thought about going for a marketing major but with mixed feedbacks from other about opting for finance instead. Now I’m just so confused between marketing and finance. Can anyone help out?
Some companies just want that paper. Business degree is great for since im already in management and want to increase my earnings potential.
business degree is actually helpful to me, especially my accounting major. haha
Is it beneficial for a STEM undergrad to choose Master in Management? Are they considered for a better pay than non-STEM students?
I have a lot of friends who did STEM for undergrad and then pursued a MiM and they are doing very well! I wouldn't say the pay is better, it usually is the same for all starting graduates, however STEM students sometimes look better from a hiring perspective
I love your content thank you.
