Hey! My bunnie went into GI stasis 4 days go and almost didint make it, he is home with me now and he didint eat or drink for three days at the vet (all he had was the fluid they gave him) and he is finally doing SO much better, he is even eating and drinking almost everything, I just wanted to let you know that your videos are amazing and you helped me get through those 3 hard days of him being gone.❤ but now he is home with me getting some meds but doing great
I buy a 50 lb bale of hay from tractor supply for $28. I bought one when I first got my bunny around Mother’s Day and it lasted me until about two weeks ago. It’s Timothy hay and I just add forage. My bun loves it!
The second to last tip is for picky eaters too! My bunny loses interest in his hay if is slightly less fresh than straight out of the bag 🙄 so putting small quantities but frequently throughout the day keeps him interested and I end up wasting less 🎉
Great topic, thanks for posting this video. My buns kept destroying the hay bags, chewed the bottom out. I tried 4 hay bags before I finally gave up. I resorted to a diy hay rack. Took 7 versions before I settled on one that works: used a wire dog crate panel that I installed at an angle on the wall. It works and doesn't look too bad either!
Something that I like to do with the small hay pieces at the bottom of hay bags is putting them in a food bowl aside the litter box. It can get a bit messy, but it does help to prevent hay waste. I also use the really small bits in the treats that I make for her. :)
I'm a weirdo, because I love the smell of hay. I also live in a small apartment, we only have one closet and we store clothes there, so I keep my bun's hay in a cardboard box on top of upper cabinet. I also mix hay myself, because here it's cheaper, so I buy him few kg every 2 months, mix a bit at the time and store it in a big paper bag, so it's dry. I've also seen fabric bags for hay storage and I'm contemplating making one. Also with the hay dust, you can make treats, with hay, some forage and banana!
The only thing I can think about that would utilize all the hay was to make hay cookies out of the scrap hay at the bottom of the bag. There are recipes online that use bananas and things to mix and make the cookies. Great video! From a fellow NC girl!
Can you make a video going deeper into rabbit hay, pellets, and vegetables like what kinds of fruit, vegetables, pellets, and hay can you give Cinnabun and how often and the exact amount to give your bun and good brands and good foraging mixes and the amounts and at what times do you give the hay, vegetables, fruits, and pellets to Cinnabun
I buy farm hay! Horse quality only! No herbicide and grass hay only! Pet store hay is such a rip off! As a horse person a whole bale is around 5 to six bucks where I live. 4 or five bales last me all year.
Need this video. I want to eventually get a rabbit but hay isn't accessible in my country. Pet stores have wack mixed bags (as in mixed Timothy and alfalfa), and buying hay online is really expensive because of my location in the Caribbean (customs and shipping costs is scary) and currency conversions are a killer. Our exchange rate is $7 for $1USD. Another tip I think from Lennon the Bunny is also using litter (make sure to use the right kind). Putting the hay on one side of the little box and the litter on the other side so the bunny when eating the hay will most likely put their butt in the litter and pee on that instead of hay.
Hey, so i recently got a month old bunny, and she is so scared of me and wont even come close to me, and i have try'd everything, i have spent most of my days on the floor trying to get her trust, and even holding out treats, and she only goes to a corner and just stares at me, can you help me?
It’s not true I see my rabbit wasting a lot of hay without the hay bag but then when I put a hay bag she eats very less hay so it really doesn’t work in every case and also in these cases I think I would go without the hay bag because at least she is eating a lot more of hay than with the hay bag
I have a bunny and I used to have her in a cage but now since I’ve watched your video she’s fully free roam eat spring mix has a big all the water in her name is Coco and she looks a little bit like Cinnabon
I want add this comment because this was my very scary experience. I used a hay bag for a couple of months for my three bunnies. I got the biggest size. One of my rabbits head got stuck in the bag itself and he couldn't get out, his ears that were standing up were preventing him from getting out. When I found him he was very limp and cold to the touch, I honestly thought he was dead! A very terrifying experience!
well i live in florida idk if people have like barn stores in their area but i buy hay for about 16$ usd it's like a hay bale stack its huge, it last me about 1 month and a week. I see mostly every channel have bags from stores but I advise you to get hay bales, instead of buying 20-30 dollars and going back to the store the next 1 or 2 to buy more. I love the hay bag I need to get that though.
Great video! The hay bag looks like a great way to keep things neat! I just had an idea… Can you do a bunny themed shopping haul like with the cool things you’ve been showing us on insta? ❤
I tried the same hay bags you use with my guy, but he just rips it all out of the bag, and then chews the holes of the hay bag to the point where it doesn't hold hay anymore 🤦♀️🤣 I've just taken it as a clue that he doesn't like hay bags lol
My rabbit has a good diet with plenty of chew toys but I’ve noticed her teeth are getting a little yellow. And now I’m starting to think she may be eating the hay she pees on, so maybe getting a bag for her isn’t a bad idea.
How can I stay on top of things with my bunny when I don't see her every day. I get to see her 3-4 days a week and 2 weekends a month which is when I constantly spend time with her. She free roams in my room, but how can I continue to make her happy and keep everything organized?
U have helped me so much my bunny died at 1 years old it was so sad but I watched your videos sins I got her and she free romed and everything! She was a frost lop I think that's what it's called u can look it up they are so cute I miss her so much but thank you and I like your hair slay!
Am I the only bun parent that does not put hay in the litterbox area? 😳 Lol. Once he chose his corner to go, I just put the litterbox there. All his hay and water fountain are in a different area.
@@SincerelyCinnabun great thank you so much. I’ll give it a try! One other question unrelated, where did you get that rug Cinnabon is always sitting on. Is it a sea grass rug?
G'day Bun lovers, with mine, i keep the crappy bits at the bottom, and put some of that in the litter tray and then sprinkle with the kitty litter, it uses up that hay and also i use less litter which is expensive here. I don't fill the tray right up and change it every cpl of days.
I use recycled paper or wooden pellets in the litter box and just add a bit of used hay in the box. And aside just at the edge of the box I put the hay they would eat. So their butt is in the litter box and head reaching the hay. I also clean the litter box once a day. I also like the smell of hay and especially the dried flowers I add on top of the hay. I don't use pads in the litter box because the girl bun will just eat it and also I want to be eco-friendly so a lot of the litter goes in the garden. I also refill the hay daily and the one that remains I put in the litter box and eventually in the bin to be composted.
Yes, I totally agree with these tips! Also, I have a BunBox and my rabbits love it! They don't chew at the litter box as much and can't get to the actual pee pad to ruin the absorbency. They also are able to focus on the hay more and not reach towards the comfort soft/paper pellets.
Hi Sincerely cinnabun I've been waiting all week for this video to come out. I've been watching you for years! Do you have any tips to convince your parents to let you have a bunny or could you please make a video about it? It would help out a lot✨
When you use the hay bag, you only use the litter box pad, correct? We tried a hay bag and not only did our bunny not eat much hay, but we were putting paper bedding on top of the liner and she would just fling that out all over the room!
Because rabbits tend to eat and go to the bathroom In the same general area and it helps with litter training to have the feeding area near the litter box they have to constantly eat hay since unlike dogs and cats they can't vomit so they have to constantly be eating high fiber yay to prevent a hair blocking and to keep there gut moving to prevent GI Stasis which is the number 1 silent killer in rabbits GI Stasis is where they're guy slows down or stops which is extremely dangerous of not given proper treatment another reason they constantly have to eat hay and they poop so much they also drink a ton as much as a medium sized dog so it's just in general helps to have they're hay and feeding area near or in the litter box

I wish my bunnies like forage material. They do not unfortunately.
Do you have an tips on how to make your Bunny less scared of you. I have had mine for 2 years and he still runs away whenever there is a loud noise

Put used litter box contents on a compost pile in the garden.

Yes I agree I keep the gay high, so wil stay clean. Thank you 😊

I grind up the bottom of the bags into powder and them mix it with banana and bake them at a low temp they love the treats and it’s fun to do

Thanks for the tips, I've been annoyed with the level of waste when it comes to our hay situation! PS you look GREAT! Your hair is stunning!
Thanks so much!!
My bun bun hates forage! I bought so much of it thinking she’d love it but noooo…

I have metal rack for my bun, because of the same issue 😂 it has holes big enough for his little mouf 😊

Awesome I also found a bunny hay feeder box on etsy
Anyone know why my bunny might be more chewy than most that I see online? I can’t use hay bags or puppy pads bc she rips them to shreds.😂
I like this … I definitely try to cutback during the week no treats and she eats more hay also feed her pellets in the hay.
First! Love your vids
Congrats!!!
NO; dont tell people to keep Hay ina AIR TIGHT container! :O Hay needs AIR! :)
Hay in their litter box???? How Rediculous is that ….

My girl just turned 4mo old, I feel like she’s not eating enough hay, can a bun that young eat forage? Any other tips to get her to eat more hay?
Since she’s 4 months, you can start introducing her to it!

Yes! I typically use paper bedding, I just don’t have any at the moment 😍
@@SincerelyCinnabun Thank you! Any tips on getting our little Bunbun to eat out of the hay bag?
Also make sure your hay has proper ventilation and check what moisture your hay was baled at! Hay can spontaneously combust if bailed wrong.
😮
What is proper ventilation?
Love This!! Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
I use the same hay bag to our rabbits. It is so good.

Cinnabun is an adorable bunny 🐰 🐇 😍 💕! It is fun to watch her eat her hay! Bunnies 🐰 🐇 RULE!
