Even though it has been changed and touched up, you can still hear how this would become Dark Matter. Always interesting.

I don't know what yall are talking about, this song is better than dark matter in my opinion. I don't care if it is an early stage of dark matter, I just wish this song went on for hours.

Good thing they successfully fleshed it into glorious Dark Matter, not a whole lot of action in this version. But always cool to hear intermediate works like this, glad I started listening to PT right with Snapper re-releases with those B sides bundled.

Honestly, I don't think Dark Origins was ever in contention to be on the album. The early version of Dark Matter (Tour Song) was played a lot in 1995, the time this demo was done. It's very possible Dark Origins is just where SW came up with the beat (hence the obviously retroactive name - origin of dark matter, etc) and then turned it into the proper song format later in 1995 before presenting it to the band. Interesting regardless

@@musicforthehead it sound like that stage of the work when all you have is one riff which you obsessively noodle over. I can sorta relate.

@@ZeeKat yeah exactly haha. I bet SW just had the beat and made this as an exercise to play around with it, fully knowing the actual song would be proper song
