I bought my first bike 2 years ago. Last year for the first time I ventured past Loch Lomond. It was a sunny warm summers day, all those brown bushes on the landscape in your video where bright purple heather in bloom, lush green trees and grass, clear blue loch waters. Seeing the mountains in the sun and the wild flowers covering the ground, it was breathtaking. Its the first time I've been to Glen Coe since I was a toddler, I fell back in love with Scotland that day. Never forget it.

Did the pass of Glencoe on my little Honda CLR-125 a few years back, used all the back roads the cyclists use to get up there from Sheffield, after pass of Glencoe I went across on the Corran Ferry and right out to Resipole campsite at the edge of Loch Sunart, was a wonderful journey and being on such a little bike out in the massive expanse of the Scottish islands just felt amazing, the last day I rode all the way back to Sheffield from Resipole in one day, around 450 miles with the route I took, got home at 10pm and climbed off the bike fresh as a daisy, what an amazing little bike that was, watched your great review of the Suzuki Vstrom 250 and went on to purchase one 👍🏻 another amazing little bike that I’m hoping to do this journey on later in the year, Scotland is a wonderful place to be on a motorcycle but it can be hard up there, the bloody midges will eat you alive and there can still be snow on the tops in summer, the weather can turn like that, but once you get past green welly stop, your eyes are just on stalks 👍🏻

I had to watch this in between chores so the pause button was used quite often. Worth the time to watch it again as those roads up north are just cracking! I've actually done some of the roads down south when I visited Fort William and now wish that I had ventured further north as those mountain roads are just awesome. This is turning to be quite a trip to watch. Thanks for sharing and yet again a great video blog if I may say so. Looking forward to the scary bit! Oh, that policeman was really nice...

From 85-92 I worked on the North Sea oil rigs for around 7 years and lived in Aberdeenshire...We worked 2 weeks on and 2 off and I regularly got in the car and took off to the highlands and rented a cottage for a week or so up on the banks of Loch Ness...They were such god times and there were some cracking roads to open up on...Cheers...

TheMissendenFlyer Yes, we went to Kyle of Lochalsh, Portree, Armadale, ferry across to Mallaig where we spent the night. Next day back to Fort William then down to Oban, Lochgilphead, Inverary and on to Bute for the last night in Rothesay. Last day was ferry back to mainland and back to Liverpool.
Absolutely superb trip with a long single track, B8000, section between Leachd and Otter Ferry below Inverary. About 250 miles a day, about the right distance for that type of riding I think. Next time we'll do your route!

Fantastic series of videos, brings back good memories.
Born in Oban and growing up in Argyll, I love this scenery. I used to drive to Glasgow and back on my GS550(great bike) frequently, and to Aberdeen Uni, all fantastic roads for a bike. On the other hand, the old Loch Lomond (not the new one you used here) used to run right along loch side. It was much narrower so navigating the tight corners with oncoming traffic, particularly lorries was 'fun', and sometimes skidmark-inducing lol.

Hi Mr Flyer. Just back from, Scotland and what a fantastic trip. We clocked up 1:990 miles, and my Tiger 1050 sport, was a dream. I just found the cruise control a god send ;-) One of our day trips out, was over to Applecross, and what a road. It was GR8. We couldn't of timed it, better with the weather. As the rest of the country, was in the 30s, we had it spot on, not to hot, and not to cold, (If any one is thinking of going. Do it) looking forward to your next trip. ride safe!

Excellent video, looking forward to part three. On lunch, something ive taken to doing recently is grabbing a sarnie, drink and a bag of crisps from a petrol station, stick it in the topbox and for less than a fiver you can pick your own restaurant with a view whenever you want. Also stops that tired feeling you get after a heavy lunch.

Another cracking video Mr TMF! That scenery is beautiful - grand and wild in a truly unique way. Funnily enough I was going to reference the Brit, Blonde, Bike duo as this section of your trip reminded me a bit of one of their rides through Central Otago, and then 2 minutes later you mentioned their channel! You'll have to make it over here to NZ one day - if not to live then for some serious motorbike touring. Henry Cole did an episode of his "World's Greatest Motorcycle Rides" here, which you might have seen, that gives a good sense of the variety of scenery we have.

Ok so this is getting really confusing. An absolutely masterly epic part 2 that is motivating viewers to head to the Highlands to follow your tyre tracks. I did part of the route today with some pals in 22 c. The confusing bit is you make it look so tempting watching part 2 this evening makes me feel I must do that but already am doing it! Now that is quality video. Suggestion- 5 x 25 mins equals full length DVD. A Xmas hit without a doubt and you are doing tremendous work for Scottish tourism. Fabulous Sir!

I know it was said in jest, but interesting fact. These wide loads were moved daily for nearly 2 years. They're turbine blades for two wind farm developments near Fort Augustus. The police were brought in from Police Scotlands special escort group based on Fife on the East Coast. 😊 99 wind turbines in total, so 99 gearboxes, 99 nacelles, 297 blades and 297 tower sections. The loads were split between Kyle port (where the blades in the video would of come from) and corpach near Fort William. Quite a large operation, and carried out with very little disruption 😊

Quality video mate! I'm in Dumfries, lots of good roads round me but I do need to get myself north!
If you're ever passing by make sure you get yourself along the Dalveen Pass, Beeftub->St Mary's Loch loop (along Talla Resevoir), Kirkstone->Ambleside->Keswick-Honnister Pass as well as the Hartside Pass (Incredible on the street triple) they're all absolutely incredible!

Fabulous road, great video (as usual), I did just north of Glasgow to the top Loch Ness and back in a T5 van last year, not quite the same but nice when it rains. Had to laugh at your internal quandary re. sandwich and sausage and mash. I would have done what you did though. I now have to go and watch part one as I jumped in halfway round your trip.

Another excellent video my friend. I've done this route many times (and have videos on my channel) and never get fed up with this part of the world. Good advice from the Police, I have rode on those single track roads to Ullapool (which I presume is in your next video), and know how tiring it can be at the end of a long ride. Spring and Autumn are the best times (in my opinion), as you don't have the holiday maker traffic. Looking forward to part 3.

Hi TMF, just happened on your video as I'm researching footage of the BMW 1200 GS. The reason being, you may or may not be aware, depending on your taste in music, it's the same machine ridden by the late Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist of Canadian rock band Rush. The same BMW was a favourite of his that he had ridden for tens (maybe more!) of thousands of miles around various parts of the world wherever Rush happened to be touring. He would generally ride in between venues and take in the scenery and the localities and wrote several books about his exploits. I was also interested as the videos you have made are excellent depicting one of my favourite parts of the world, Glencoe is a particular special place that I have driven through many times. (Sorry I'm not a motorcyclist!) Liking the videos, albeit a bit late to the party!! :-)
